The only«good» thing about this place is that you can get whatever you want and eat as much as you want. The food is always pretty gross there though. Everything tastes like its been under a heating lamp for hours,(which it is). If you have kids, this is a good place to go. But otherwise, save your money and go get some McDonald’s instead because this place is pretty gross.

This weekend we stopped in at this Hometown Buffet while in the Pittsfield area. When we walked in all signs pointed to move on, but I guess we didn’t catch the drift. Here is the overview of our experience. 1. The credit card machine was down, we paid in cash and they didn’t have change. We ended up walking away short a few pennies but not a huge deal. 2. The selection at this restaurant was lackluster and a lot of their items were overcooked. The mashed potatoes refused to come off the spoon and a lot of the food was salty. 3. At one point an employee cut herself at the carving station and there was blood everywhere. Luckily it didn’t taint the food. Although gross, this didn’t affect our dining experience but what was frustrating was listening to the manager complain about having to call corporate and complete paperwork for an injured employee. 4. The bathroom was freezing, the restaurant was dirty and the plates were caked with food residue. The one plus about this restaurant was that the staff was polite except for the manager and their biscuits and gravy were delicious. Also, I can’t let go of the fun memories we used to have at Hometown as children.

Horrible experience. We got here at 1pm on a Saturday. The place was busy but not packed by any means. The carving stations were down, they ran out of sliders & dessert??? JIM the manager was out on the floor so I kindly approached him asking about these items, his response«We’re all out!» so my response was how does a buffet run out of food Jim? He simply walked away without a care in the world. We won’t ever go again. Very disappointing overall

We partaked in a breakfast outing at OCB. The kielbasa wasn’t to my liking. The bacon was very crisp and paperthin. The decaf coffee was very good. The cinnamon buns and pastries were delicious. The floor was a bit messy but the lady taking care of cleanup was busy. The french toast was yummy and the belgian waffles were good. The buffet was hot and fresh and was cleanly. The music was too loud.

The management is helpful, the food is hot, the place is clean, the ambiance is low-key(except sometimes during peak hours), the salad bar is fresh, the lunch price is exceptional($ 8.49, or $ 7.49 w/coupon. They even accept coupons that say«Country Buffet» instead of «Old Country Buffet» on them), the Friday salmon is to die for. I always feel nostalgic and comfortable here. A great place to take the folks out. Outings to OCB are some of my favorite memories from growing up. Be warned, though: A negative to note is that the dishes out on the buffet are usually not clearly labelled.

It would get one star if not for the dessert bar. I love their bread pudding with ice cream on top. My family, on the other hand, would give it more stars, possibly three or four. They like the variety and the multiple trips to fill their plates. They are growing boys! I give it less because of the focus on grease. That seems to be their specialty. Deep fried food. Also, they charge a lot for drinks on top of the high priced meal. As a positive, the young man who cleared the table was very friendly and efficient.

Not a bad place to eat. Moderation is key. Only problem is the people that work there might be breaking into your car while you eat.

The last time I went here was when I had just gotten back to the US after a year in China. Perhaps that was part of the reason I was shocked by the low quality of the food and the depressing obesity/ignorance of the patrons. The people who work there were OK enough, but they are sticklers for the rules on coupons so make sure you double check the fine print before trying to use one. If you target your food correctly, you can eat decently well with the salad bar and the on the spot carved meats. Most people fill up on processed and flavorless foods that will likely lead to an untimely death/hypertension. Good for high school kids that don’t know anything about nutrition, are hungry, and poor. To sum it up: I don’t mean to really tear into this place, they aren’t intentionally bad or rude or anything, but it’s a place that’s only purpose is to fill you up on low cost factory food ingredients.
