History

Established in 1985.

Der Dutchman is part of the Dutchman Hospitality Group, Inc. family of businesses. Formerly known as Dutch Corporation, the company is family-run corporation first established in 1969 in Walnut Creek, Ohio.

In 1985, Dutch Corporation built Der Dutchman in Plain City. This area was home to an Amish population for many generations but as farm land became more expensive and methods of farming more competitive, the Amish population gave way to a Mennonite community. We still have many Mennonites working at our restaurant today.

Der Dutchman has been a hub for local guests as well as travelers from the Columbus metro area. Plain City’s proximity to Marysville and Dublin make it destination for dining, bakery and special events.
