History

Established in 1972.

«Darcey» Folkerts, founder and CEO of AWT struggled through the early 70’s operating A Womans Touch Painting and Decorating in a predominantly male orientated industry.

To compete, Darcey developed her own ‘style’ of painting and customer service, solving customer fears of color and finishes with a satisfaction guarantee. Thus the ‘Darcey’ personality, quality and customer service approach to painting and decorating was born.

As the years have gone by… Darcey has helped thousands of homeowners, and renters, choose color combinations, finishes, and design techniques, to make their house become the home of their dreams.

Darcey F.

Business Owner

Darcey was born and spent her childhood in Garner Iowa, that would be the small town just past the third corn field on the left outside Mason City Iowa.

Darcey got married just out of high school and had two wonderful children.

Darcey began her working career at Winnebago as a quality control manager on the third shift (‘YUCK’), so she could be home for the children during the day.

Darcey got divorced in the late ’70’s, and as a single mother of two children, came to Chicago, knowing she had to come to a more populated area to follow her life dream and passion of painting and making peoples dreams become reality.
