Chris and Team took care of my tuned Audi Q5 when my CEL came on. Car wouldn’t start from the initial start up, without crank. At this point after scanning the car, I made the decision to take it to FMU. Chris was very prompt and accomodating. Very appreciate of the attention to detail and his follow up updates. They eventually diagnosed the issue to be a bad relay. Car has been running great with no more CEL. Cudos to Chris and team !!

This shop is phenomenal. This was the first time I’ve needed to take my Volvo in for some work and having moved up here from Texas not too long ago, I spent quite some time doing my research. Not every auto shop can work on European vehicles much less do a proper job, so my search was fairly limited. I settled for this shop and was ever so glad I did.
Chris was knowledgeable and responded to each of my emails promptly and professionally. When I dropped off my vehicle, they started on it right away. On my return, Chris went over everything that was done and didn’t push for any other unnecessary work. He merely discussed what he recommended was needed to be done later on based upon his inspection.
As I got into my vehicle, I found that it had been vacuumed without my asking! There was also a card with a lottery scratch off thanking me for being their customer as well. First time any business as ever given me the kind of personal attention like what I received from Fluid Motorunion. I believe I’ve found my go-​to mechanic shop!

Couldn’t be more happy. I’ve had a mix of maintenance, performance mods, and repairs done on my car. They do an excellent job of treating me like I’m the most important customer they have when I’m on the phone. Plenty of insights on optional upgrades, and they worked with me to make the more expensive repairs economical. Plus, a comfortable waiting room!

I’m very happy with Fluid MotorUnion. Turns out they not only work on high-​end imports, but they successfully removed the spark plugs out of my 2004 Ford F-​150.
Might not sound difficult… but they are notorious for breaking in the engine.
I’m not a mechanic, but that sounds like it would be expensive!

Go to Fluid Motor! They have done a lot of work on my vehicle within the last 2 years (it’s an older Infiniti). They are always up front, honest and priced fairly. Today is a great example. They gave me a free estimate, $ 600, and said I would be ok for a little while if I can’t afford the fix right now. I went to get a second opinion (as always), Bartel’s quoted $ 1,200 and said that the problem is severe and most be fixed immediately. I brought it back to fluid, who drove my kids and I home while they worked on the car. They fixed it, called me to let me know that the part was less than expected and the cost is $ 100 LESS, took my payment via phone and brought my fixed car back to house with the receipt and a smile. Service is fast and polite. Place is clean and welcoming.

We have been customers of FMU for over eight years and had four of our German vehicles serviced there religiously. I’ll echo all the comments regarding fair price and knowledgable staff but even more important is the EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Case in point — I recently had a panic situation requiring emergency work on a Saturday afternoon. Without hesitation OJ and Marilyn invited me to the garage and immediately proceeded working on my car. The shop closed at noon, yet work continued for nearly two hours into their afternoon until the issue was remedied. FMU is the reason my 11 yo BMW runs like a clock at 200,000K! Bravo!

I called Fluid MotorUnion to request a quote to change the leaky transmission fluid, pan, filter, gasket and sleeve on my e90 335i BMW a week before. Lady on the phone couldn’t give me an accurate quote because she wasn’t sure what parts the car required to be changed in this job even after I explained to her what I needed. Change the oil pan, filter, gasket, and seeling sleeve that goes inside the tranny, which the Bentley manual states have to be changed when servicing this transmission. Therefore, the lady told me to bring my 335i in so they can look and make sure what I needed since she didn’t know if I would need to replace my oil pan which she had quoted me an extra $ 700 to replace the pan on top of $ 800 for just changing the transmission gasket and sleeve. I clearly asked if there was a charge for this, and she said no, that this would only take 5 minutes to put it in a lift and take a look under just to make sure whether I would need to replace the pan. So I took my car in on Saturday and it took about 20 minutes to lift and look under the car. When I get my quote, I also got a bill for $ 97 for diagnosing the issue on my car. I was appalled because I never came in for a diagnosis, I came in to get a quote which the lady who’s in charge in giving quotes, was not knowledgeable on the parts that I needed even after I had clearly explain when I initially called that I needed the pan, gasket, sleeve and new fluid. She also did not give the the quote until after I signed a document giving them permission to charge me and repair my vehicle which at the time I was under the assumption that I would not get charged. To me, this seems shady on behalf of the shop because it needs to be clear on what they charge and don’t charge and they don’t stand behind their word. Since I had asked when I called if there was a charge and the Lady told me no. Then, their quote was $ 900 which was $ 250 more expensive than other BMW shops I had called and knew what I needed just like the Bentley manual called for, as I, entail ed above. Almost as expensive as the dealer. Only reason I decided to come in to Fluid MotorUnion shop was because it was a close location and assumed their quote would be very similar to other Indy shops around the city and suburbs. When I asked the lady why she was charging me $ 97 to look at my car, she explained that she had to charge me for her mechanics time, 20 minutes=$ 97 to diagnose which was not the reason I was there for, I explained to her that I came in so the shop could give me an accurate quote which she had mentioned when I called that I needed to bring the car so they could see what’s needed. Even after I had told her what parts were needed to be done. I understand you need to pay your mechanics, but don’t be dishonest with your clients. Say one thing and then change things around. She also said they topped my tranny with fluid which I never saw the mechanic do when he had it on the lift which was another reason for her $ 97 charge. Another lie! The reason I am upset is because I’ve taken my other BMW’s to other shops and had them look at the vehicle to give me a quote and never been charged a penny for this. Even to get a diagnosis that have taken 3 hours to diagnose the issue for three hours, I didn’t pay a penny. In the future, I will just stick to my regular BMW Indy shop and not deal with rip off shops. Fluid MotorUnion seems to be charging just like BMW dealer (stealer) ships.

This place is fantastic. one of the very few shops that I have ever had work done at where you actually know they are trying to help you vs what you would typically expect at 99.9% of the other shops out there. This is a family business and it shows. Treating people like people vs dollar signs, don’t get me wrong, they aren’t free, but dollar for dollar, I would much rather spend my money here than the big dealerships. They have my business 100% as well as my business vehicles, I refer everyone I know to them, as well as every car I have personally as well as company. Great job… this is a hidden treasure inside Plainfield. a must try, then you’ll be converted as well.

Excellent service at a fair price. Just had a significant amount of work on my BMW and Mike was highly professional and communicated every step of the way. The car came back fixed and they must have washed it because it was spotless. They will be my go-​to shop from here forward based on the this experience.

Turns out a far superior business plan pays off. The staff are knowledgable, friendly, and their services are economical and fast! Never going back to the BMW dealership again!

Fluid Motor Union provides excellent service in a a short amount of time. Chris and Marilyn took great care of my car. I have taken my Audi there twice and have been very satisfied with the great work they do. I highly recommend tneir services. My husband and I are very imprssed with Chris’knowledgeable of Audi and Marilyn is very accomodating to my schedule and made it easy for me to get the repairs done.

I love this place. I have a porsche cayenne and not many places will touch the brakes or do the oil change for a reasonable price. The guy at Oil Depot referred me to this place and when I called Marilyn she took the time to price out the parts over the phone and brought it in same day. There is no loaner service so I waited but if I’m going to save 50% or more and get an honest opinion on other needs rather than getting up sold I’ll gladly wait. In the end I thought my car was being looked at by professionals who cares instead of a dealer that wants to crank out as many cars, charge you an arm and a leg, and tell me to do things that aren’t really needed.
Second time I brought it in was to fix the horn, rear door struts, wipers and spark plugs. I can tell you that they did all of that for less than what the dealer wanted to charge me for just the rear door struts. Again this place is great. The techs actually stayed a little late just to get my car done. Granted i was waiting over 2 hours but heck I watched a movie and checked email and in the end I felt great about what I paid for. I highly recommend for anyone with an import that gets ripped off my dealers.

Our best experience at a mechanic EVER! Driving on the way from Chicago to Peoria our BMW 550Xi started to make a horrible racket. We thought we would have to call a pickup to tow us home, but decided to check on the off-​chance of a BMW mechanic nearby. Thank god we found Fluid Motor Union — not only were they willing to take a look at our car right away with no advanced notice, but they knew immediately what was wrong and were able to get it fixed and us back on the road in minutes.
They could not have been friendlier or more welcoming to our family, offering us refreshments in their comfortable waiting room, and taking the time to look up the dealer parts cost and making sure when we got back to our regular mechanic they would not stiff us on parts or labor.
To top it off, because it was such a simple fix they refused to accept payment! Seriously! I know I am gushing here, but truly, in all my days I would never believe that you could have such a good experience at a mechanic.

Bad Part… I went there after reading other good reviews but I was very disappointed with the work they did on my car.
I assumed they would fix all the problems I had because of accident but they didn’t. They didn’t bother to even call to tell me the things that would not be covered by insurance company.
I believe if you have lot of cash you can expect them to do a great job but not if you want to go through insurance.

I was pleasently surprised at the service this place gave. Everyone knows their stuff here and I loved that they went over every detail of what work needs to be done and why. I was also happy that they were willing to work with me and gave me great advice on what work needs to be done and what I can wait on. They didnt try to upsell me which is hard to see these days. They seem to be very passionate about their work and it shows with the kind of work they did on my car.
The place is also equipped with everything to make ur stay enjoyable. They had an xbox and a bunch of games I could play as well! Not only that they had a desk for me and free wifi so I can work right there while I waited. I hope I dont have to keep getting my car fixed but if I do this will be the place.

If you live in Naperville or are in the outlying western suburbs, and you are having problems with your European vehicles and or just want to give it a look that sets it apart from all those other Chelsea Tractors out there. Then Fluid MotorUnion is the right RX for your vehicle. OJ and his staff are second to none in knowledge and support.
They have a great waiting area with a big screen TV, DVD’s, XBOX, Games, and loads of magazines. All of which to keep you busy as well as the wife and kids, while your baby is getting a check up in the garage. Now my wife’s grocery getter is tip top, and I would even take it out for a joyride every now and then.
If you don’t want to spend big bucks @ Perillo or Bill Jacobs and not get service with a smile. Then go to Fluid MotorUnion, get exceptional service, a smile, knowledge, and a bit of class for your vehicle! I can’t remember the last time i was looking forward to having a repair or custom work done on a vehicle. However, this place fits the bill.

My 2002 BMW had started getting the cold shoulder from dealers. i just wasn’t happy with the service attention. A friend recommended Fluid MotorUnion and I am very happy he did! The team evaluated my car and let me know what maintenance it needed. All work was done quickly and at reasonable prices. I asked about improving performance and was given options and recommendations. I had them tweak some things and it is like driving a new car! My BMW is a joy to drive again. I will be back with all my service needs.

Great place to have your BMW (or any make for that matter) serviced. Rates are lower than what Bill Jacobs quoted me. Everyone is friendly and informative and the waiting area is nice and clean. It is a much larger facility than I was expecting, great place.
