Mel’s Service Center

When you bring your car here, you feel local. This shop has been around for a long time — it’s an old gas station, I’m sure — and Mel was a previous owner. Our present car pro Tom is a great mechanic who takes his time to investigate issues, get the right parts, stay accurate on the labor time, and do what it takes to make sure the job is completely done.
This job was a biggie (at least to me!) with a replacement of a timing belt, water pump and some serious exhaust system work. He topped it off with an oil change. I tell you, when I got into the car it felt different — better, quieter, safer. I knew it was an investment in more mileage for my old PT, so the price was fair to me.
Here in Plainfield it is nice to have a local alternative to the chain-​based operations. Thanks, Tom, for your work.
