History
Established in 2010.
Erica, a prodigal Hoosier rennovated the 1890’s property that houses the store and opened the doors for three rooms of fiber fun in July 2010.
A year later, her husband Dave, a souvenir from the UK joined the team and the two wanderers have made Plainfield their home.
In 2013 the store expanded to 6 rooms of yarn, tools, patterns and other fiber arts goodies.
That year saw us published as pattern designers for the first time, in a book by a major US yarn company.
Also Nomad Yarns was voted Best Speciality Store in Hendricks County and second in Best Customer Service beaten only by one considerably larger company.
Nomad Yarns continues to add more products, a larger range of classes and hosting fun events all year. Drop in to add to the history of our little store and it’s much older home.

Erica K.
Business Owner
Erica took the long road to owning a yarn store.
Born in Indy, she studied Anthropology in Ohio, then in the UK where she met her husband Dave, also an anthropologist.
Along the way she has visited, lived and worked in a variety of places from outdoor schools in California, to a monkey sanctuary in Florida and a Buddist monestry in India.
Through it all fiber arts have remained her passion, leaving academia to design, teach and play with yarn back in her home state.

«The great little cupcake store next door. Great for treats to eat whilst crafting in our sit and knit space.»
