Holiday Inn Plainview-Long Island

Initially, I was super apprehensive about booking a room here because I read multiple reviews about bad, rude customer service which I HATE but I ended up not having to deal with check-​in and my fiancé said everyone was really nice so there’s that. Interesting hotel, the windows open up into the hallway which seemed redundant to me but okay. I actually liked the room and the pale blue/​green accent wall and the muted colors of the room. It was small though. The layout was confusing and we walked the entire hotel looking for the ice machine only to find there was one of our floor but the signs would lead you to believe otherwise. There was a mini fridge but no microwave. I did like the lighting, some hotels are so dark so even though the lighting wasn’t crazy bright, it was good enough. If I had to, I would stay here again, but only if there were no other options.

We had 192 for a wedding… and it was a debocle!
From the point of losing or shall I say canceling, mine, the mother of the brides reservation to ½ our guests not being served our dinners until after 10:30pm…for a 7pm wedding… AND the food was like rubber, disgusting! It was obviously over cooked. There were only a handful of servers for 18 tables! The cocktail hour was so cramped and hot you could not navigate through to get to the bar at all. ONE BAR… I wouldn’t be surprised if the room that they used for the cocktail hour was way over capacity, a fire hazard for 192 guests.

We had to hire our photographer to stay later as he was looking to take the pictures of the bride and groom cutting the cake at 1030pm… but half the room hadn’t eaten. They couldn’t do the father daughter dance, either as the brides dad had not eaten yet.
The food, was not only terrible, it was not uniformly cut. One steak was as thin as a pancake and another a big chunk and all fat! The salad was wilted… as if it was prepared the day before.
Also, in the special room for the wedding party… no plates, utensils or glasses for us to eat or drink. My sister had to track someone down to help her. My sister also walked into another party, as they had too much going on that night and to navigate where the cocktail hour was, was all the way on the other side of the hotel.
To make matters worse when we requested Amex to help us in possibly receiving a discount, the catering manager called my daughter, while she was still on her honeymoon, taking her completely off guard… as we tried very hard to shield her from the mess of a FAILED wedding, and questioned her as to what the problem was!
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE RELATIONS!
I will get my lawyer involved now… I refuse to pay in full for the shoddy job they did on an over a years worth of planning for such a major event!!!

I will not come back here. I would rather stay at Econo Lodge than be treated the way this hotel treats guests. We came here not realizing the hotel had a restaurant and picked up food on the way since it was late. I was with a coworker and we wanted to sit at a table in the lobby and eat together than huddle up in a room. That was absolutely unacceptable and we were told with a nasty and rude attitude we would have to eat in our room. We were tired and hungry and had just checked in so this was a terrible way to be greeted. Next night I went to a light meal at so called restaurant and had to flag down the server (who was too busy socializing) on 3 different occasions to pay attention to me, just to order was a hassle. I tried to have breakfast the last day, they would not take an order over the phone (apparently the menu is different than the one I had) WTF? So I went down to order and was short on time, I asked if I could take a plate from the buffet to my room so could get ready and eat quick. Shocker — the answer was once again… NO. The buffet is ONLY for seating in. No matter how «convenient» the location might be – I would rather drive an extra 10 miles on the LIE to avoid this place. It took 10 minutes just to find my room each time (odds and even # rooms are spread out like a T and you just walk and walk not knowing where the heck you are. DO NOT BOTHER! This hotel has no clue how to treat a guest.

The hotel was great, and I otherwise wouldn’t leave a whiny review as an outlier to bump down the rating, but this breach of hospitality seems too important to ignore. After checking in earlier in the afternoon I returned to the hotel around midnight, and I found all the parking lots were filled. A parking attendant told me to park somewhere else and wait for the ballroom to empty out. After a nine hour day of work and 4 and ½ hours of driving down to Long Island, that was the last thing I wanted to hear.

Checked in around 2:30pm. Was given the incorrect room #. Someone was occupying the room we were assigned to. Needless to say they corrected the issue eventually by putting us in the correct room. We got an apology from the smug front desk manager and was offered nothing else for our inconvenience. She clearly does not value her guests. But then again this isn’t the Four Seasons. We’re only here for 1 night for a wedding. Will NEVER stay here again. Will certainly be escalating this feedback to corporate district level.

Close to major highways, right off the expressway.
We had a weekend business conference late September ’15. Rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious. Our organization arranged for buffet breakfasts and lunches, and a banquet. All were more than adequate.
I must say, all the Holiday Inn people were pleasant, and a pleasure to deal with.
My only issue: I’m a Pastafarian (Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster). I was startled to find a Gideon Bible in the dresser drawer… untouched, of course. But still.

The Holiday Inn Long Island — where loyalty goes to die. All kidding aside, this is a nice hotel but they fail miserably in recognizing members of their loyalty program. The check-​in process was very rushed and impersonal. The agent failed to recognize my status with IHG, didn’t offer any of the published amenities, and made me feel like a beggar when I inquired. If I’m required to stay 75 nights per year just to attain the status, I don’t think taking 10 seconds to recognize it is a lot to ask.
Ok, rant over. This hotel won some sort of renovation award back in 2012. I guess I can see that. The lobby is grand; very bright and spacious. The hotel restaurant and bar right off the lobby looked nice, and was offering some specials. There was an outdoor pool which looked very well maintained and very refreshing. I probably would have gone for a dip if I had the time.
The hallways and rooms are nice. Updated and clean. Just a few notes/​complaints. The bathroom faucets are extremely loud. I was woken from a sound sleep when my neighbor turned theirs on. Same thing when the doors slam shut throughout the night and morning. Another thing to note is the mini-​fridge. Don’t put it on the max cold setting or everything will freeze.
If I was back in the area I’d probably stay here again. There are some issues but all in all it’s one of the better Holiday Inn properties.

The worst hotel ever full of noise you cat sleep in the night no insulation the heater makes a lot of notice customer service is awfull

Very nice front lobby and great staff. Restaurant was good with a very friendly staff. Rooms are nicely appointed but have no exterior windows. They face the hallways thus they are very dark and noisy. Cannot open curtains to receive natural sunlight as every guest that passes by will have all full view of your room.

This Holiday Inn is more Motelish than Hotelish.
We stayed here to go to a cemetery.
It’s a couple of stories tall with faux indoor corridors.
We got a substantial deal on an internet website because it was low season, but had we paid full rack, you would have had one unhappy David on your hands.
Staff is fine, very accommodating.
There is No Indoor Pool or Spa.
Our King rooms was tight, and in the back of the building, our window looked out onto an interior corridor with dim lighting where people pass.
Dim enough that we wanted to move into and out of the room quickly in case someone may be lurking…
The thermostat was a 1970’s non-​digital slider. The type that you can’t tell what the room temperature currently is, nor can you accurately set the temp what you want it to be. It’s trial and error and we just left it off.
The room and bed were cozy comfortable.
This Holiday Inn’s biggest selling point is it’s location, location, location… It is right off the LIE and Northern State. It’s close to all the Pinelawn Cemeteries as well as tons of businesses.
We would probably not choose to stay here again, but if there was another spectacular deal – sure. It’s not bad for a night.

I recently stayed at this hotel and my experience with Holiday Inn has been hit or miss, this one was a hit. Not sure when this one was built, but it was a very nice hotel — and was very current, and did not feel ‘old’.
My room number was 14 which at first I found to be odd — it was on the lower level of the hotel. The rooms are a bit strange as they have windows facing out into the hallway (make sure you keep those curtains closed!) but the hallway was enclosed. It did not matter I found the entire interior of the hotel to be nicely updated and clean, the room was incredibly comfortable with nice furnishings. They put cookies and little desserts (quite tasty) out each evening on the right hand side of the front desk.
The lobby area is lovely and open, they have a full service restaurant and bar that serves pretty tasty food. If you go to the bar during happy hour they have half priced appetizers and drinks. The bartender (Cindy I think was her name?) was fantastic. She asked me my name once and despite a full house of patrons remembered it and called me by my name with each interaction.
The staff was really nice and accommodating. The only small criticism I have is that I was checking in the same time as some other guy. The older gentleman that I got was nowhere near as good as the young gal checking in the other guy. He was super slow, never asked me my name (strange right?) and never called me by my name. He kept staring at the screen and did some seem very efficient. While the other guy was being told about all of the amenities of the hotel (breakfast, restaurants in the area) the guy checking me in just earnestly stared at his computer screen. He was very sweet and nice, but maybe needed a little more training or something.
Wifi was strong, in-​room stuff (towels, plugs, toiletries) were great.
This was a good stay, very good. I would totally stay here again.

This afternoon I enjoyed an excellent French dip for lunch at the very comfortable and affordable restaurant in the Plainview Holiday Inn. Very attentive service with an enjoyable and well stocked bar. This is a most convenient place to meet for a business meal. It’s right off the Long Island Expressway. I like it here.

This hotel is mediocre — but that’s basically what I expected from a Holiday Inn on Long Island that’s fairly inexpensive. I wouldn’t spend more than 100 bucks to stay here. Rooms are smallish-​normal-​sized rooms, with the weird windows that view into the hallway. None of that is a big deal, they were nicely decorated, and the staff were all really nice.
HOWEVER, it was comically loud. And by comically, I mean, when I checked into my 2 rooms (one for myself and my sister in law, one for my mom and aunt), I received a list of rules that I had to sign, with a section HIGHLIGHTED about noise issues. I received our two rooms, which the kind woman at the front desk informed me were right next to each other. I responded «great! I can keep my mom in line so she doesn’t get too noisy!» (in a very joking tone), so which she soberly responded ‘yes, we take noise issues very seriously.’ I quickly explained I was joking and that my 60 year old mother was not exactly a rambunctious hotel guest.
Imagine my SURPRISE when I was kept up the ENTIRE NIGHT by noise! The hotel had an astonishingly LOUD live music performance in the bar (or karaōke, who even knows, it was terrible), to the point that I could make out EVERY WORD IN THE SONG in my second-​floor room, and the music was still going strong even after 11pm! For that reason alone, I wouldn’t exactly call it a family-​friendly establishment. We also had a wonderful next-​door neighbor who repeatedly opened and closed his door at 4 am non-​stop, which was strange, but I can’t blame the hotel for that.
All in all, totally fine for a young (ish) person like me who can sleep through some noise, but terrible for anyone who actually wants or needs to sleep. Comfortable and well decorated, but yikes… who is so serious about noise and then plays music you can hear in your room all night??? Definitely regretful about spending the money since my mom and aunt didn’t get ANY sleep at all… might as well have just shared a room if we’d all be up all night!

Checked in this afternoon to be assigned a room in the dungen. If your room has a 0 in front, yes its the dungen and feels that way as you enter. As a single woman traveling being put in the dungen corner does not invoke safety. The blaring tv next door and dungen withcurtains not closing all the way make a motel seem safer.

I stayed here one night for a conference. (Got the room via Hotwire.) My room was on ground level — which concerned me at first as I was travelling alone. But the room was gorgeous! The room and bathroom must’ve been renovated recently — both were outfitted in a sleek, contemporary style. The bathroom was pretty roomy.
The location was great for getting on and off the thruway.
Overall, a great value. I’d return, but would prefer a non-​ground floor room next time.

Check-​in was quick and painless even though we arrived early at 12pm. The water pipes (faucet and shower) and air conditioner are VERY loud. Toilets are intended for midget use only. Found a metal clothing pin between the sheets. Breakfast buffet was okay, but wouldn’t have been worth the money if we had to pay for it (we received complementary food vouchers at check-​in for the event we were here for). The restaurant staff wasn’t super professional; they were openly gossiping about how the bartender in the hotel charged $ 110+ on a $ 29 bill for a guest the night before (so beware). The beds are adequate for a restful night of sleep. Our room come equipped with a bug screen TV, wi-​fi, king size bed, fridge, clock radio with an iphone docking station for playing/​charging, and plenty of easily accessible outlets for all of our electronic devices.

I would definitely reccomend this hotel. The staff was super nice and helpful. They went out of their way to help me with some issue I was having with my priority membership.
A nice little extra is that if you are a priority member (its free you can sign up on the spot) you get a free drink at the bar, discount on diner and breakfast, and I even got a nice little welcome goody bag with treats and water!
Oh and those who are looking for a good bar scene — it was crazy down there! I guess maybe it has to do something with their happy hour, but for a Tuesday night at a hotel bar, I was surprised.
Keep in mind, its not a 5 star hotel — you get what you pay for — but the rooms were clean, spacious, and the hotel staff was definitely enough to keep my coming back.

I like what they did the the remodel. Lobby looks updated and the freeway sign is fixed. What once was Monroe’s Supper Club is now Bistro 46. Rooms are cozy and there’s still free wi-​fi.
Well done, Holiday Inn.

Hotel is recently renovated and very clean. The bedding is upscale and had an assortment of different firmness pillows. The rooms were quiet as I didn’t hear anybody in the adjoining rooms.
Wi-​Fi is free, but barely usable bandwidth for even email.
Service in the restaurant is terrible, check out my review on Bistro 46. I had a colleague join me for dinner and I was profoundly embarrassed. The front desk was clueless on the so-​called «Satisfaction Guarantee» in this situation.
With no other restaurants within walking distance, I would choose another hotel unless you had a car.

As a Road Warrior I stay in a hotel, or two or three, just about every week. Even though I’m an active Unilocaler I don’t have the time to write a hotel review unless I’m really impressed and that is the case with these folks. I spent a week here so I feel I know this establishment quite well. Here are my observations–
* I was out and about each day and parking was a breeze every time.
* This hotel has recently undergone a multi-​million dollar remodel and it shows.
* The lobby is beautiful in an understated way.
* The front desk staff was unfailingly friendly and courteous.
* My room was spotless and kept that way every day.
* The restaurant is a notch above most hotel eateries and the breakfast is especially nice.
* The bar deserves special mention. It’s nicely finished with plenty of HD TVs. I found the bartenders to be efficient and competent. During the week there is a 4:30 to 6:30 happy hour that is amazing! Drinks are ½ price but the real star of the show is an incredible and extensive tapas menu that is also ½ price. When I visited it had 18 items including roasted chorizo with caramelized onions, beef and pork meatballs with Manchego cheese, and Ahi tuna tacos. These plates among others were wonderful and the portions were large. Order two and you’ll have a decent dinner. I saw one guy order three plates and he was stuffed. These plates are usually around $ 8 so for $ 4 bucks each and ½ price drinks it’s a hell of a deal. This happy hour is so good that if I was in the area I’d make this a destination trip.
If you need a room on this part of LI I’d highly recommend these folks.
