Fencing is an NCAA sport. All best colleges, such as Stamford, Cornell, Yale, Princeton, Duke, UPenn, and so forth, have fencing teams and every year they are looking for new athletes. Fencing is a highly competitive individual sport derived from the duel and is a most exciting and safe modern combat sport. At the same time fencing can be an excellent recreational activity for those who are bored with ordinary gym exercises or jogging. Island Fencing Academy is proud to provide the best coaching on Long Island.
Our graduates have become members of US National Teams. Many of our students have been accepted to prestigious universities such as Princeton, Columbia, UNCA, Ohio, Yale, Brown, Brandeis and others.
IFA Mission
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for modern Olympic Fencing both for competitive and recreational purposes. Our club is open to anyone with an interest in fencing and is located in Plainview, NY on Long Island.

Whether you are an experienced fencer or new to the sport, you are welcome to visit the 6,000 sq ft facility located just off the LIE in Plainview…
History
Established in 2002.
Island Fencing Academy is one of the largest and most successful fencing clubs on Long Island and in US. Founded in 2002 and lead by international level coaches, IFA is proud of their alumni, that includes National Champions, World Cup medalists and members of US National Team.
Our graduates has been accepted to prestigious colleges such as Princeton, Yale, Duke, Brown, Columbia, St. Jones.

Meet the Business Owner
Boris K.
Business Owner
Boris Khurgin was a National Men’s Sabre Coach at the 2008 Junior and Cadet World Championships in Italy. Boris started fencing in 1971 in Kharkov, Ukraine. His sabre coaching career started in 1981 at Fencing School of Olympic Reserve in Kharkov. From 2005 – 2007 Boris coached at New York Fencers Club. In addition, he coached at Manhattan Fencing Center — base of the US Men’s Sabre Olympic Team. Starting in September, 2008 Boris is at IFA full time. Boris has Olympians, World Medalists, National Champions and members of National Team on his alumni
