I am still heart sick and heart broken. On Wednesday, May 4^th, I called Dr Deutsch because my dog Jojo (an aprox. 4 – 6 year old rescue cocker spaniel) was shaking, lethargic and off her food. I was told to bring her in on Tuesday May 10^th, at 2:30. I was concerned but Deutsch assured me that it didn’t sound serious. I trusted him. On Sunday evening the shaking seemed worse, so first thing Monday morning, my husband called and said we needed to bring Jojo in and we did, at 11:30 am. He examined Jojo and asked if he told me last time she was in (8 months earlier) that she had a heart murmur and we said no and he said, well she has one now. I told him I was concerned about her kidneys (I had been doing a lot of internet reading over the weekend) and he checked her BUN values from last time and he said they were a little elevated but nothing to worry about. She was very uncomfortable when he palpated her abdomen, so said he would keep her for observation and do blood work, and ultrasound and and echocardiogram. I kissed my furbaby goodbye and never saw her alive again. I had a Dr. appointment myself that day in Manhattan and while I was with my Dr., my husband called to check on Jojo. At this point in time, the technicians hadn’t come yet to do the ultrasound and echocardiogram but she was «doing OK». He again said he wanted to keep her under observation and continue to give her fluids, so we left her with him. We trusted him. Our phone rang at 8:30 on Tuesday morning and it was Deutsch, telling my husband that Jojo had passed away. We went immediately to Palinview Animal Hospital where I cried on the dead body of my dog. He said she died at «about 6:30 am». I asked him why he didn’t call us and his answer set my teeth on edge. He said «I’m not in the habit of calling people at 6:30 in the morning.» Almost a week passed and we hadn’t received a call from him giving us an explanation for her sudden death. We called him at 2:30 on Monday 16^th. He went over the results of the ultrasound and echocardiogram and still, in my estimation anyway, he didn’t give us a definitive cause of death, just that she «had chronic kidney disease and it’s likely her liver and heart just gave out.» I was suspicious and said «but did she seem OK overnight»? to which his answer was «uh hu.» I knew something was not right but bided my time. On Tuesday the 15^th, they called me to say I could pick up «the remains», my Jojo. When I went to pick her up, I asked the nurse who the person is who stays with the animals overnight, as I wanted to talk to them about Jojo’s condition through the night. She said, «Oh, the last person leaves here at 8 pm.» I flew into a rage!!! «Are you telling me that a deathly ill animal was left alone for at least 10 hours???». All she could do was look at her hands. I asked for a copy of my Jojo’s chart and it was handed to me in a sealed envelope. I fell for it! I didn’t open it until I got home and when I did, I just found the results of the ultrasound and echocardiogram, neither of which indicated the possibility of the sudden death of my Jojo. As a matter of fact, the echocardiogram said no medication or treatment was needed and she should be tested again in a year! The ultrasound results had a recommended treatment section, suggesting aggressive fluid therapy, pepcid, and antibiotic treatment. HOW can you treat an animal aggressively with fluids if they are left alone for 10 hours??? How do you honor your word to the owners and keep her «under observation» if there is nobody around to watch her for 10 hours??? This man did NOT do what he promised when we left our Jojo with him. This man did NOT take care of our furbaby. My dog, died alone in a cage in a strange place with nobody taking care of her. Nobody giving her the love and compassion she deserved and this man is responsible. We were mislead by this man. We would NEVER have left her with him if we had known he would leave her alone to die, which is, in effect what he did. I never read his reviews because my husband’s dog has been seeing him since she was a puppy. I wish I had a do-​over. I would have see that this has happened numerous times with this man! I would NEVER have left her. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FUR BABY TO THIS PLACE!!!

Dr. Deutschs a fantastic vet, he really cares about the animals, he’s not in it for the money. Many vets are in it for the money. I have experienced the worst treatment when it comes to vets. I have been lied to and taken advantage of. I used to go to Bellrose Animal hospital but they had lied to me about my pets illness, billed me for things that were not performed. $ 20,000 worth! I went for my first visit to Dr. Deutsch because he was close by and diagnosed my dog with simple anxiety and gastritis. Which is curable! Thus far she has been in great health. He NEVER overcharges or takes advantage EVER. he recently put my childhood dog to sleep, he was wonderful and his staff was also wonderful. We really like and trust him a great deal. He is wonderful.

I recommend Dr. Deutsch to everyone that has an animal. I originally found Plainview Animal Hospital when I adopted my cat and since then I take both my Great Danes to him. He really cares about animals and he always asks about my dogs when I am there. When it comes time to paying the bill, I do not feel like I’ve been taken advantage of like I did in the past at other vets.

Stay away my experience with him n Plainview Animal Hospital was brutal n I wound up with a dead dog because, as per the doctor, «he missed something». Missing him wl do ur pet a favor

I have been going to Dr Deutsch for years. He was able to assist in caring for our Great Dane who had SLO. Every other vet tried milking us for every dollar we had. Dr Deutsch went the holistic route and truly cared for our dogs well being.
We have recommend him to others who quickly fell in love with him as well.

Dr Deutsch was extremely caring and helpful. My dog was choking (which I thought) on a bone. I went to a vet right up the block from my house which is called Page community vet and they said they couldn’t help me. No one was there. Well, why is it 4:00 and your door is open? Plus the vet lives there. Anyway, I will never go there again. So I drove to Plainview animal hospital and went right in and said my dogs choking. The very friendly woman went and got the doctor and put us in the room. Dr Deutsch immediately took the bone that was stuck in the back of my dogs mouth out. He was super friendly and didn’t even charge me! I said how much and he said don’t worry about it! Now that’s a caring vet! I Would highly recommend his office!

I had a similar situation as Neil L had. I took my dog in to see Dr. Deutch and he admitted her for having a stroke which later that day he claims she had vestibular disease. I looked up information on my computer pertaining to strokes for dogs, and the computer said vestibular disease only imitates a stroke «but its not itself a stroke».
I left my dog in Plainview hospital on Friday and on Sunday DR. Deutch called me and told me that my dog had passed away, but wasn’t aware of the time or day my dog passed away. In addition, the doctor also informed me he didn’t feed her because he was afraid she going was to choke. I had feed my dog on Thursday and had given her a treat upon admitting her and she ate without any signs of chocking.
He also claimed that she was having mini strokes but didn’t inform me until after my dog had passed away.
Dr. Deutch had no concern for my dog and I would highly recommend STAYING AWAY from PLAINVEIW Animal Hospital In addition my dog passing cost me $ 600.
