Lavender Fields Day Spa

This New Britain location is in a horrible spot traffic wise and that may have lead to it’s demise… Not happy about the fact that I and people I had gifted certificates to were left high and dry when this spa closed abruptly. In total I am out a couple hundred dollars. Upset about the fact that they continued to promote and sell gift certificates right up to the doors closing. Bad karma! And I guess we have no recourse. Disappointed that they didn’t call to let people who had appointment know personally of the closure. I was very ambarrased when I found out my mom showed up for her appointment (booked for the Mother’s Day certificate I gave her) to find a locked door. :((

The salon is permanently closed. It closed at the beginning of June 2015. There are some salons in the area accepting gift cards until the end of June/​July /​or August depending on the salon.

Just showed up for a massage to discover a note on the door that the spa has closed due to health concerns and the current business climate in Connecticut– whatever that means. Really frustrating since I only scheduled the massage less than a week ago and have almost $ 200 in gift certificates to the spa. They should have called before closing up shop!

Just getting around to writing this review. I had a hot stone pedicure back in December. It was a long awaited treat after just havering my baby. I reserved a hot stone pedicure with my friend. Not only did they not seat us together, even though it wasn’t busy, I only received a regular pedicure. The stones were there the whole time and she didn’t use them. I wasn’t sure when they would come into play so I kept waiting. But nothing. My friend didn’t like her services either. Her finger nails were cut really short after she specifically said not to beforehand. So basically I paid for a service I did not receive and my friend was unhappy about hers. Even though the spa is super convenient to get to, I probably would not return.

My first experience at this day spa was mediocre. I figured I’d give it a second chance to see if maybe it was just the nail technician’s style that I disliked. When I arrived, I was quickly reminded of how terrible the location is. I entered the spa to find that nobody was at the front desk to greet me. Right off the bat I was once again unimpressed. I proceeded to my pedicure after just waiting a few moments when the nail technician greeted me like she would rather be doing something else than my pedicure. I liked the way she shaped my nails, I must say. BUT she barely filed the bottoms of my feet as well as not pushing my cuticles back enough. The spa was clean and I did like the polish I chose. Unfortunately I would not recommend this spa nor will I be returning.

I’ve been a customer at Lavender Fields for many years, and have always returned because of the same girl who did my waxes. She did an excellent job every time, and I was always offered a discounted price for booking my appointments ahead of time. However, she recently left and I switched to another girl who works there. While she was pretty good, the wax felt very rushed. The biggest problem about Lavender Fields is that they are almost ALWAYS over booked, which I feel makes these women rush during their appointments so they are not late for their next one.
Recently, they have employed new receptionists to work at the front desks, and the service from these receptionists has been the most terrible service I’ve ever had at any spa I’ve been to. These girls are rude to the customers, are sitting on their phones texting while people are waiting to be taken in, and are completely unprofessional. They have also on multiple occasions left a reminder call saying my appointment was on a certain day and time, and when I show up, they say my appointment is on a completely different day or at a completely different time. Even the reminder cards they gave me didn’t match up with the reminder calls! I never got any kind of compensation or gift certificate or anything for their mistakes either, just an «Oh, I’m sorry.» There is maybe one or two receptionists who actually know how to do their job, but the rest are just unbearable.
I STRONGLY recommend to NOT going to this spa. The service is terrible as well as the location (on a busy street in a renovated house with a law firm underneath. Yeah, because that SCREAMS relaxing.) and it’s really not worth the money or the time. As a regular customer for many years, this place has seriously gone downhill. Unless they get new employees that are capable of making a simple phone call and have some sort of professionalism, I will never be returning to this spa.

The masseuse was excellent, however the facilities are rather chilly. Also one of the employees speaks obnoxiously loud. I like the complimentary tea. It’s unfortunate because the spa has potential. Not a relaxing location because you can hear the cars passing on the highway.

Clean and modern. Best services in Plainville. But pricey.
Recently the Lavender Fields Facebook page had a political posting which I found offensive. I consider myself rather easy going… the comment was deleted after multiple complaints from a variety of subscribers. Sadly, it left me with a sour taste in my mouth about the company.
I used to enjoy their Facebook posts which were often about healthy eating, daily services open for filling and general spa updates.
I no longer subscribe to their posts… Haven’t been back yet to the salon.

I really love this place — I’ve only been twice and don’t have anything negative to say about it. Both times I was treated very warmly and was offered beverages. The first time I went I had a gift certificate for a massage, pedicure, and manicure and was pleased with all 3. I just went again, for the ultimate spa pedicure, and LOVED it. It was super relaxing. As soon as you walk in, there is a peaceful, calm atmosphere. Left feeling quite refreshed.

The massage I had was good. Really overall no complaints about the place. It is set up kinda weird. I only gave it 3 stars since I have been to many Spas on vacation and those placed were much more elaborate. One thing this place is missing is a shower and sauna. After I have been lathered in oil, it would be nice to shower before I leave. Its also nice to sit and relax a little right after a massage instead of getting right up and leaving. At least that has been what I’ve seen and done at other Spas.

I got a facial here today and I was not that impressed. It was not relaxing at all and she left some of the mask on even though she scrubbed my face like a toilet. You are better off going to Botanicals Day Spa in Avon or the Art of Touch in Newington. Not only are these spas both better but the prices are cheaper.

* They didn’t offer me anything to drink and I had to drink out of my own water bottle. Then they still didn’t offer anything upon seeing the bottle.
* Four of my nails smudged right when I was going to pay even though I waited as instructed. And while one of the other girls superficially touched them up (as if she’s doing me a favor), they still smudged right after I got in the car. Ultimately I only ended up with four decent nails and what’s the good of that?
* They did not remember to take the 10% off for booking an appointment ahead of time.
CONCLUSION
* The manicurist is quite personable and meticulous but the bad experience today will not have me back for a long time if not indefinitely.
* Overall rating should be 2.5 stars

I was really disappointed by Lavender Fields.
After reading others reviews I decided to go with Lavender Fields even though I lived considerably far from its location. I think it should be noted that even though this is a spa, its location is inside a converted house and it shares space with a realtor. I found this to be a little less than glamorous, as well as the Christmas lights that hung on the outside of the building, in the middle of July. :-/​
I had only booked a massage. I was very happy that since I had arrived considerably early, they took me in early. However, the massage therapist had cleavage hanging out to here if you know what I mean and I found it to be off-​putting and unprofessional. Also, she was talking to me during my massage!!! Really girl? I’m there to relax, not to have a conversation, its a massage.
At the end, I found it a little rude that the receptionist asked me how much I was going to tip. Gratuities should be left, as cash, with the massage therapist. If I didn’t leave anything, I didn’t want to tip.
I won’t be going here again.

Took my wife there for her birthday… going in she had been stressed for quite some time… when they were all done with her she looked relaxed… she said she felt like she was on a cloud… I paid for a manicure, pedicure, and a massage… reasonably priced too… valentines day is coming so make sure you book your appointments!

I went here for a pedicure and ended up adding on an eyebrow wax at the end as well. The prices were very reasonable for the atmosphere, and it was all very well done. I walked in to make my appointment, since I’d been in the area and made the decision on a whim, but she was able to give me one in about a half an hour, which gave me enough time to run to Starbucks and grab a drink before heading back to wait.
Beautiful atmosphere, very comfortable waiting area with a couch, soothing music, they offer you a beverage and have complimentary muffins/​cookies/​etc.
The woman who provided the services was not very talkative, but I didn’t mind. She wasn’t rude, just subdued.
Very clean, parking available in a private lot, but one caveat — there are many stairs. I am not sure if there is an elevator somewhere in the building, but from what I saw, there isn’t. That said, I am marking this place as not wheelchair accessible, but please feel free to let me know if I’m wrong!
If you’ve got bad knees or something, you may need to rethink your destination for your day of pampering, but if you can handle the trek, I highly recommend Lavender Fields!
They have also participated in the Relay For Life of Plainville by offering manicure services during the event and donating the proceeds to the American Cancer Society, which is an extra special two thumbs up from me!

My original visit to Lavender Fields Day spa was a positive one. I received a gift certificate for a one hour massage from my husband and decided to get a deep tissue massage. I was very pleasantly surprised by the ambiance of the place an the friendliness of the staff. My massage therapist was well skilled and very thorough. I intended to return and did not hesitate to recommend the spa to friends and family. It was a great value for money!
Earlier this year I returned to Lavender Fields with a friend and the reception from the staff was tepid at best. I did have a wonderful massage however. My girlfriend has Lupus and found her room to be too cold. She was uncomfortable the whole time and didn’t enjoy it.
The reason I’m giving Lavender Fields 1 star, aside from the decline in service is because I made the mistake of «liking» their Facebook page. The page was quite benign for the most part and there were even some cool giveaways. I think I won a pedicure at one point. Well I recently logged on and the spa owner had posted something political. I responded that I didn’t really want to connect my spa experience to politics (without stating an opinion on what she posted either way). The owner promptly went on an unprofessional downward spiral.
There is something very wrong with a business owner who does not understand that customer service has to be extended to every medium that you use to engage customers. I had heard from a former employee how unprofessional and out to lunch this business owner is but having experienced it first hand I don’t see myself patronizing Lavender Fields in the future.
