I was so impressed with A1! I called for an appointment for a broken hinge based on my dad’s recommendation of A1. The scheduling was a breeze and the tech showed up exactly on time. He reviewed a couple of options for our garage door and let us know about some issues that «may» happen in the future regarding the lifespan of our setup. There was NO heavy pressure at all, and we decided to upgrade our opener. Our tech was prepared, completed the upgrade and repairs quickly and efficiently, and we could not be more pleased with our new/​improved garage system! They even sent a nice thank you note in the mail and a referral «bonus» to my dad who recommended them. I would not hesitate to refer my friends to A1!

I called them because the spring broke on the garage door and they came out promptly to fix it. The technicians were real nice and even gave our garage door a tune up where it’s now so quiet when it opens and closes. Reasonably priced and will definitely use them again when I have more troubles with the door.

We got home at night only to find that our garage door had a bad dent that prevented the door from opening. I called them after-​hours with the intention to leave a message and was instead greeted by a very polite receptionist who took my information and set an appointment convenient to my schedule. The repair technician showed up and with just by looking at it already knew the problem. He explained my options then repaired the door in 15 minutes. It works fine now. Great customer service.

Came out in a reasonable time and gave us a fair price.

We originally met them at the Allen home and garden show. A few days later one of the springs on my garage door broken and being a do it yourself person I headed off to their store to get some new springs. Found out they do not sell the springs directly due to liability concerns (totally understandable) however I started asking question after question and learned quite a bit about garage doors. The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. It was around 4pm and they sent someone out that same day to fix my door!
The tech came out and was awesome. He replaced the spring quickly and even gave me some tips for keeping the door properly maintained.
The price was very reasonable and I will definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

Arrived on time, very polite, work was good (not great). Amount charged was OFF THE CHART HIGH! The tech was on the job about 45 minutes, used about $ 50 in material, and charged $ 384.00!!!
I commented to the General Manger who said they are worth it. I think not. If you use A1 Affordable, I recommend a second quote or opinion before proceeding.
I feel then need to take «Affordable» out of their name.

09÷03÷14 — Kris, if you really cared about customers, you would not have responded to my email with a «form type» answer. If the technician was good he would have diagnosed the problem rather than «pad the bill». I now have to remove the trim installed by A1, correct the problem, and reinstall or replace the trim. I can’t afford to use A1 Affordable. I will use another firm and get it done right. — Peter K.

10÷10÷14 — Kris, I just read your comments of 09÷30÷14. There seems to be some misunderstanding. I initiated the service call because my garage doors were «sticking». I felt is was due to paint on the perimeter seal and best to replace it. I showed the A-​1 technician what the problem was he preceded and replaced the seal. Even if the seal was not the problem, I don’t have a problem paying for the work. I have a problem with the fact the doors stick worse than before the repair. I have never been offered by A-​1 to «fix the problem» or «make the proper repair». You did offer to «make an adjustment at no cost». That is not the same as «fixing the problem». If I am misunderstanding you than tell me you will have a technician out to «repair my doors» so they will not stick at no additional cost. I only want one thing, the doors fixed.

Highley Recommend A1 Affordable Garage Door Services. I called them at 9:45AM and they had a tech (Dan) on site within 30 Minutes. Dan was very professional and explained everything (in detail) on what he’s going to repair for us. He had our garage door up and working within 45 Minutes. They are very honest and I would highly recommend A1.

Courtesy and nice. On-​time. Knowledgeable. Then the bill came. Charged me twice as much as I expected. informed me the torsion springs were at a price. After quick search… the actual price for the parts are 75% lower than the quoted price. fail.

I had a major garage door problem over the weekend. I called A1 early Monday morning, and not only did they work with me to make it convenient to arrive with respect to MY work schedule on the same day, they called back to see if it was okay to come even earlier. Their technician (JP) worked in the cold weather quickly and explained everything. 90 minutes later, I had a working garage door and everything was done efficiently and of high quality, I told him I hope I never see him again, but if i DO have another problem with my other garage door then A1 will be the first company I call!

These folks are just awesome. I moved into my new home on Saturday and I immediately broke the garage door (the previous owner left the manual lock engaged and I, unaware of this, tried to open the door with the garage door opener from the outside). That did it in.
Being new to Texas, I don’t know anybody or any companies (yet), so I got on Unilocal the next day (Sunday) and found A1 Affordable Garage Door Services. They got good reviews, so I called them.
I was surprised to find a human answering the phone on a Sunday, and she was pleasant and helpful. She said she could have someone out within two hours. I was stunned. I was expecting Monday if I was lucky, but I’d planned on hearing they’d be out Tuesday… and best of all, there was no additional charge for a Sunday dispatch!
The technician arrived right when I was told, and he was friendly and he explained everything thoroughly. He fixed the problem quickly and made the recommendation of a maintenance item and he disabled the manual lock so that I wouldn’t have a repeat performance down the road.
I would highly recommend A1 Affordable Garage Door Services for your garage door needs.

I have never received paid services here, be aided when I explained what was going on with my garage door, they advised me how it was an easy fox to do myself! The guy said he did not want to charge me for something I could do! That’s a class act right there. If I ever have any serious garage door problems, these are gonna be the first people I call!

I have used A1 on two occasions for repair, door came off the tracks and the original spring broke (two separate incidents). After the spring was fixed the door was hitting the door frame at the top and making a loud noise. I ignored it for several months and finally decided it need to be looked at after a small crack developed in the wood trim. I called on Mon and they were out on Tues to look at it. A small adjustment, unrelated to the previous repair, was needed and the problem was solved, no charge. They are more concerned about customer service than any other company I’ve dealt with. I would give 10 stars!

My garage door had been working sporadically. I had their technician come out to check. He was on time & polite. The door operation was still in good shape… just needed some quick cleaning & oiling. I appreciated the honesty in his diagnosis. I will certainly add A 1 Affordable to my regular home maintenance list.

I called late on Tuesday night. The lady I talked to was extremely nice, helpful and understanding. We determined it was not an emergency situation but she would have someone out to me first thing in the morning at 8:30. The repairman was actually early, extremely nice and professional. He explained the situation and quoted a price before doing any work. He replaced the springs quickly and everything is working perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend A1 Affordable! As a single mom, finding a company you can trust means a lot. Great job A1!

I used A1 affordable because of all the reviews at Unilocal and they were FANTASTIC!!! Here is what happened. I called Saturday at 3pm, DAN came by 30 minutes later, (yes, i was lucky enough to get him), got an honest quote, and they replaced the whole system on Monday. Very professional, punctual, courteous, and there work was great. Would definitely use them again. I searched a lot of places and there prices are good, along with quality of service.

After I worked on the door to get a roller back the track on one side the door would still not close all the way. A1 Affordable came on the day and date advised on-​time. The tech watched the door close partially. He then took his cordless socket and tightened one bolt bracing the roller track and said now try it. It worked. He said that will be $ 59.00 for a service call. I said well while you are here grease the tracks. He said he could do that, but the price would then be $ 89.00 because that would qualify for preventative maintenance. I replied dude you did a repair that took less than 5 minutes all I asked you to do was grease the track. Now I am a rude customer for daring to ask him to provide a bit of service that apparently would have added another 5 minutes to this job. Oh well, I am now a rude customer because I suggested he was trying to price gouge for a small amount of grease. So much for customer service in today service industry.

Buyer beware. I called A1 Affordable for a blown opener starting capacitor. I declined $ 150 for a $ 20 starting capacitor install.
The A1 Affordable installer inspected the tracks, door and rollers adjusting them all at my request. He stated they were all fine.
My garage door was off it’s tracks less than two hours after the affordable installer inspected the door, tracks and rollers stating they were all good. I called A1 Affordable. They sent a rude installer out who denied denied denied and refused to be of any help. He stated I had refused service on the opener starting capacitor, which I had and that A1 Affordable had done nothing else. I have a hard copy the installer left stating the rollers, tracks and door was checked and the conditions. I’ll be filing the hard copy with my BBB complaint.
Installer two stated I had raised the door by hand since the opener was dead that A1 had no liability and would not put the door back on the tracks.
This is how A1 Affordable treats a customer that has spent $ 450 for spring replacement four months ago. Beware the $ 100 roller up sell. These people are crooks, they will overcharge, up sell and will not be there. This was a new garage door which has had no problems other than the spring install which A1 Affordable performed four months ago.
The positive is I have found a family run, affordable, reputable, garage door installer who will stand behind their work. My garage door is now running better than any time after A1 Affordable service. Pictures, documentation along with a reputable company are available upon request. Buyer beware. These people are slimy.

I was extremely impressed with Dan and A1 Affordable Garage Door Services. They provided a free quote and did not try to pressure us to fix that day. They followed up with phone calls to make sure we were happy with our quote. Two months later I called and got same day service. Dan was on time and was done in less than 1 hour. Super nice people and outstanding customer service. They even called me after to make sure I was happy with my service. I got tons of garage door repair coupons in the mail, but did not even care to get a second opinion. The level of service was outstanding and that is what matters to me!

I came home from work and my garage door stopped opening near the top. What would most of us do? I pressed the button again, the door started coming down until it jerked to a stop about half way down. Lesson 1: If your door is stuck opening or closing… check what happened first instead of pressing the button again, I think I made it worse. The cable one side that is attached to the torsion spring came off the spool and was now wrapped around the bar the spring is on — probably exacerbated by me trying to close and open the door again.
I figured no big deal, if I push that side up I could give the cable some slack and try and feed the cable back into the spool. Seemed to be going ok until one of the rollers on the opposite side came off the rail. I decided it was time to to take to the internets for help and basically every DIY site advised against messing with the torsion spring yourself as it could severely injure you if something goes wrong. That’s lesson 2: finding a good place to stop and call for help before you make it worse or hurt yourself.
I called A1 Affordable and spoke to Crystal who was very polite and helpful, she informed me that she could have someone out to look at it within 60 – 90 minutes. She also informed me that the technician would come and evaluate the situation, and then tell me how much it would cost. No fee for coming out, and if I didn’t want him to fix it there would still be no charge for him to come out. She called me back in 40 minutes telling me her technician was on his way and would be there shortly.
Kevin, the technician, arrived in another 15 – 20 minutes and took a look, told me what was wrong, and how much it could cost to fix it. I told him to go ahead. He was very professional and seemed to know exactly what he was doing (as he said he had done this many many times). He even took the time to explain everything to me in detail and answer all my «I’m a n00b homeowner» questions. He put the roller back on the track and the cable back in the spool. Reset the torsion spring, tightened everything on the door, and even made sure to tighten everything on the garage door opener itself. Then he sprayed lubricant on everything and gave me some general advise about routine/​monthly/​quarterly maintenance I can do myself to ensure the door continued to work properly.
If everyone who worked here is as good as the 2 people I dealt with last night, I’d recommend this company to anyone. First house and first time I’ve had trouble with my garage door so I have no real basis for comparison, all I can say is that if I have problems (that I can’t fix myself) with my garage door in the future — I’ll be giving these guys another ring.

I had used their service twice and both time in an emergency situation. We accidentally backed our car while the garage door was not completely open. The first time we called them it was late evening on a stormy evening. As during the storm they were too busy, but the person who answered the phone was very courteous and assured me that someone will show up the same night. They did at the promised time. The second time also the person showed up as promised on time.
On both occasions the technician was very professional and did not try to push me to make the decision or try to up sale. They provide me with enough information and gave me enough time to make up my own mind.
I was very impressed and happy with the professionalism and work provided with this company. I will highly recommend this service to anyone looking for garage door service.
