Best fish monger in DFW. From quality crawfish(and available in convenient half bags, no less) to fresh-from-Copper River, AK sockeye(not frozen) and beautiful, extremely fresh flounder, I cannot recommend Captain Dave’s highly enough! The entire staff is wonderful, very professional, and darned great at what they do. Prices are right in line and customer service is off the charts.

Came here to purchase lump crab meat to make crab cakes for my Baltimore bred boyfriend and I was more than pleased. About $ 22 for a pound of lump crab which is way cheaper than the Philippine caught crab in the cans at the grocery store and much fresher and sweeter. The employees were extremely sweet and greeted me the moment I walked in. Excellent customer service, and I will be returning.

Great seafood spot. Always fresh and a great selection. We are from around the Great Lakes and they have Smelt, Haddock, Turbot along with really good Cod and Salmon. Have always highly recommended this place. Oh and if you want monster Lobster Tails, they have them too!

Being from Maryland, and needing a crab fix, we REALLY wanted this place to work. After pre-ordering a bushel of #2 male crabs and 2 dozen oysters, we showed up at the recommended time on a busy holiday weekend, Labor Day. We were willing to pay the higher prices so that we wouldn’t have to drive around to various markets looking for male crabs. We transferred all of the crabs to ice chests for the long ride home and found 6 dead ones. When my husband approached the manager for replacements or refund he was treated extremely disrespectfully by the manager. It’s a shame because we would have sent a lot of folks his way and, heck, we just dropped $ 285 and he was too stingy to simply replace or refund for those 6 crabs. Bad business, bad customer service. After all Captain Dave you did charge me per pound for LIVE crabs!!!

We got here at 5:58, they close at 6… The door was locked and the lady came out to tell us she had already shut down the register and would not sell us any fish. We will not be returning.

I have been here to pick up crawfish 3 times and had an issue all 3 times. This last issue sent me over the edge. The past couple of times I’ve been there I have had horrible customer service. This time they told me they would only except cash and when I asked why they asked me to leave the store. When I called back up to speak with a manager he told me that the owner would say the same thing and hung up on me. This place is the worst… I wish I could give negative stars.

Hands down the best live crawfish we’ve ever purchased. Great size and quality sold by an extremely friendly and knowledgable staff. We have purchased many times before with equal results. I also purchase their crab dip, unfortunately it never makes it home for the rest of the family. Keep up the good work.

I am a Cajun food fan in general so if it has even the slightest Cajun flavor I’m likely to enjoy. I am from Dallas area, I am 35. I have been to various mud bug dives in Louisiana. I must say that after bring to more crawfish boils than I can’t remember and many more restaurants, cap’n daves by far had the best crawdads that I have ever had. Not sure if it was just a good season or what, but the size of these things were insane. Like mini lobsters. The prices were reasonable as well. The gentleman at the store kindly assist my green horn caliber cooking plans. Anyway, I won’t be going anywhere else to get my crawfish down the road. They were amazing!!! Thanks!

First visit. Ordered 1.5 lbs of the largest shrimp they had in the case. When I got home to grill them about 1⁄3 of the order was of the smaller size. Please visually check your order prior to them wrapping it up. I felt cheated. No more for me here. I will go Plano Central Market where a man gets the quality seafood he pays top dollar for. No more of Cpt Dave’s for me. Pound sand Dave ! God Bless and should the shoe fit, please wear it.

Review on Cooked Crawfish: I’m Cajun and haven’t had boiled crawfish all year until this past weekend. I didn’t have time to cook myself so we picked up from Capt Daves. One word… PATHETIC!!! They are selling ‘field run’ size at $ 6.00 per pound with no corn and potatoes. The crawfish were small and overcooked. 3 out of 4 tails would tear in half when trying to extract from the shell. Trust me, I know how to gingerly peel crawfish. These were the worst I’ve ever had and I will NEVER purchase from them again.

We recently discovered this place and started getting our seafood here. I recently became pescetarian and we now come here a lot. I was able to meet the owner(captain dave himself) and he told us about all these different recipes for what we were getting, and also offered to vacuum seal the fish we got in case we needed to store it. Very friendly and very delicious.

My family always buys their seafood from Captain Dave’s. The fish is always fresh and the service is so friendly. Their prices are comparable to the supermarket and usually the cuts look better.

I buy seafood here almost every weekend. They always have a great selection and everything is very fresh. Don’t be turned off by the small storefront, they have almost anything you need in the back. We hold an annual crawfish boil with 100+ attendees and I always order my crawfish from Captain Dave’s as well. If you are price shopping this place is not the cheapest, but if you want selection, freshness, and quality you found the right place. I highly recommend for any foodie or chef.
