Linear Automotive

My car had a sizable dent, thanks to another car’s door swinging out violently… Linear Automotive restored it to the condition it was in prior to the dent. There’s no way to tell that any work was done! I took my car there after reading reviews on Unilocal.They’re the real deal. I wouldn’t hesitate to take my vehicle to these guys in the future.

Needed a full front end rebuild after rear ending someone in my Genesis Coupe. These guys, especially Sully, were incredible to work with. He is on YOUR side 100% and has a real passion for making sure your car is returned to you it should be. The repair job (10k total) was flawless. Constant communication is what made me want to write this review, the job took about a month due to hidden damage and insurance hurdles, but Sully kept me updated all along the way. I have a real respect for people that run their business with integrity and honesty, so for that I am thankful I chose this shop.

I went by Linear Automotive for the first oil change on my new minivan. They were very nice and professional as I expected after reading the Unilocal reviews. During my visit I learned that they have a full service collision center as well so when someone ran into my front end I knew where to go. The insurance company wanted to give me a used bumper but the manager did not accept that and got a new one. The front of my minivan was repaired and looks good as new. Thank You Linear Automotive for taking good care of me.

Up-​selling, and uncooperative.
I went here because I saw the ratings. The moment I walked in, I told them that I wanted to replace my headlight. Then the boss-​like dude told me I needed more than that. He dispatched a mechanic to check out my car, whom also told me that I needed so much more than what I really needed. In ten minutes, he came up with a 3-​page-​quote, running up to more than $ 2780, with the headlight replacement composing less than $ 400 of the total.
I was a little stunned by the price quote, and told him that I was pretty broke and I had to pay it out of my own pocket. I asked the mechanic with glasses on his face and tattoo on his right arm:“What happens if I just want to replace the headlight?” He replied:“Then we are just not going to do it. You will have to find another shop.“
Guess they are so well fed that they don’t even bother bones with too little meat.

Brought a used car I was thinking about purchasing here. Called them an hour in advance and they were still able to set me up for an appointment and I was in and out within an hour. No waiting around for them to actually look at the car or anything, and that’s with a last-​minute appointment.
Andrew explained everything he checked and seemed very thorough. Even had Sully come and check it out as well. Both great guys from what I can tell.

My Mazda CX-​5 rear bumper needed some work and I took it to quite a few body shops for a quote.
Linear Automotive gave me the best quote and the end result was amazing. Best body shop in DFW and thumbs up to Sully.
Keep up the good work.

I will only use this place for body work and/​or future customization.
They are that good!
They where not cheaper then the Mercedes dealership but their work and service was far superior.

This review is being posted a few weeks after I had an unfortunate auto accident, where the other party backed his car into mine and reversed his story when the cops came (in the end, the insurance decided on no-​fault provable, so we’d each have to pay through our own insurance claims).
There was some visible damage on my front license plate holder, but I couldn’t determine if the damage extended into the bumper/​frame or who knew what else was inside the hood.
That accident set aside though, this auto body shop is definitely where I’m having my car repaired.
My observations listed below…
Initial Findings:
— Found via Unilocal for its 5-​star review status for over 20 reviews at the time I found the original post
— Local, non-​franchised type shop, which for me is a bonus since I’ve always found that auto mechanics is often a tribal trade
(would you trust the geek who builds his machines on his own, or the certified guy with the fancy nametag? I go with geek :))
I went in with my usual grain of salt to check it out, and see what kind of estimate they could make on my car.
Turned out the damage was minimal.
Positive Points:
— The manager took the time to wipe clean the front bumper of my car to make sure there weren’t any unusual scratches or marks
not created by normal wear-​and-​tear. He also popped the hood and checked the inside, and also had me start the car while he listened/​watched for anything unusual. Props for the double-​checking.
— The manager wrote out a quote for me, with a small asterisk pointing to the fact that there MAY be a small possibility of damage that went unnoticed, and would not be 100% certain without a thorough check (where you take the whole front apart and analyze every piece). This, he said, was for my protection should the claim fall in my favor, and I wanted a more thorough appraisal of damages.
— He said realistically the whole thing amounted to about $ 24 in damages. He did not bloat any figures (I double checked) after accounting for labor and parts. Perfectly fair price.
Negative Points:
None to speak of. If there are any after I go in for the repair job (I’ve only gone in for the estimate so far), I’ll update this review.
Edit: The second time I came around, they did upsell me some :/​so the negative point would be, as with all other auto repair shops, shop with a grain of salt. And DO shop. Saved a few hundred doing that.
Experience Note:
I’ll mention that I would definitely pick this place over Service King and Caliber Collision.
Service King, based off of my research, had some pretty mediocre-​to-​negative reviews.
Caliber Collision, on the other hand, is somewhere I’ve been to in the past, and have had my spare tire stolen, used for another repair job, and only returned under threat of a police report. No joke :(.
Another reason why I wanted a local shop with a good rep this time.

I had a regular check-​up done on my car (fluids, brake pads, etc), and they gave me a price point that ended up being a few hundred dollars more expensive than at the dealership.
Would shop with a grain of salt if you’re not made of gold ;). Overall decent service and timing though.

They are not cheap, but their work and service are definitely worth the money.

I had a small bit of bumper damage from being rear ended. Talked to Sully and he explained the process to me, advocated for better parts for me from my insurance company and did the repairs on schedule. Insurance covered everything and I paid nothing out of pocket. Work looks good and it’s been 4 months. Highly recommended. Sully knows his business and is a real professional. Highly recommended. It’s nice to get quality service, and be able to support local business at the same time.

I recently brought my truck in to get a repair quote for damage and they were very helpful and got me taken care of right away. The staff is very friendly and professional!

These guys are the best shop in Dallas. I’ve known Joel, the owner, for a few years now, and he’s a class act. His shop manager, Sully, is equally impressive. I was recently in an accident that caused quite a bit of damage to my new car. These guys did a great job of fixing it, managing the insurance process and keeping me up to date on their progress. I’ve been a customer for a few years, but prior to this experience, only on small issues: pre-​purchase inspections, minor paint touch-​ups and small mechanical issues. This most recent job was a big one, and I’m thrilled with their work. Thanks guys. You’re the only shop I’m recommending to my friends and family.

My experience with linear automotive has been great, sully is straight forward and looks out for his clients.
Although I don’t want to be in a situation where I have to bring my car to a repair shop I wouldn’t hesitate to bring it back here based off the excellent customer service and work they do. This was an easy 5 stars in my book, and I can be… «picky» when it comes to my vehicles. They even detailed it, inside and out. (Much Appreciated)
Overall… great staff, great work, easy to find location, clean and respectable facility. Keep it up!

Absolute pleasure to do business with this company. Sully was not only personable but honest, informative and straight-​forward when walking through/​answering my questions for the quote I received. They completed the job on my Mazda 6 within the minimum time range I had been given (2 days) and they did it for the exact quote I recieved! — Which was the lowest quote I got after obtaining 2 other quotes from other highly rated body shops in the area ($ 200 less than the other competitors!).
These guys are great and deserve all the business they can handle!

Due to the lack of physics knowledge (specifically reduced friction caused by inclement weather and how that translates to stopping distance) in young male types on us75 I have had these fix my rear bumper TWICE this winter. Both times the service was stellar

Needed an estimate on some rust repair for my newest purchase. Heard good things about Linear, so I came down for an appointment.
They provided a quick realistic estimate of the work, to do it properly, etc, and not just a quick fix. While I won’t be getting it repaired anytime soon (good thing the car is in Texas now!), it was good to get a quick honest estimate for the work.
Their yard/​shop areas looked well organized and mostly clean, as an auto body/​repair shop can be with on going activities.
Customer parking is small, so pull into the yard and find an open space.

Integrity and expertise. These words come to mind when I think of Linear Automotive. The two men who run this company, Joel and Sully, were in my corner when I brought my little 1998 Corolla in for repair from a car accident. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Sully worked with the insurance company to protect my interest. Joel followed through to make sure I get my car back timely even though it was Thanksgiving Eve.
It touched my heart when I had dropped by to see my humble Corolla receiving TLC from a top’notch’ automotive shop along with the Mercedes, BMW and classic mustangs. These guys have the expertise to work on high end cars and they are working on my sweet little Corolla!
If you love your car and/​or you want a trustworthy mechanic, bring it to Sully and Joel. They will exceed your expectations. They love what they do and they have good old fashion values that you can depend on to take care of you proper.

I had to have some minor repair work done on my car that wasn’t covered by insurance. I’m not sure who helped me. The other reviewers mention Joe and Sully so I guess one of them. Anyway he was super friendly, laid-​back and very helpful. My dent was repaired much cheaper than I expected and less expensive than some other quotes. I also asked if they could hit a few paint chips in other areas of my car with a little paint to hide blemishes. They said sure, and did it for free!
The shop is a couple of blocks from old downtown Plano so if you have to wait, you can just walk down and drink some coffee or get some food.

I dealt with Sully on collision repair and the work was great. They do a thorough job and they aren’t going to half-​ass your repair. Insurance paid for my repairs but I’d say generally they are reasonably priced.
Once I brought my truck in they dealt with insurance from there. They aren’t the cheapest, but they most certainly aren’t the most expensive, and you get great work from nice guys. I’ll definitely be going back for any body work I might need.
