History

Established in 1990.

Lorna Jane is the proud creation of Lorna Jane Clarkson, the founder and namesake of the brand. While working as a dental therapist in the late 1980’s, she created her first activewear designs after becoming frustrated with the limited range of fashion exercise clothing available. Her part-​time job as an aerobics instructor allowed her to showcase her designs, and Lorna soon realised she had stumbled upon a niche market. Demand grew quickly and Lorna eventually substituted her hygiene mask for a needle and thread and began designing full-​time. After moving back to Brisbane Australia, Lorna decided to open her first store in 1993. Since then, the fitness-​inspired brand has grown to include gym and sportswear, yoga and lifestyle clothing as well as intimates and accessories. Today, Lorna Jane has become a household name synonymous with active living.

Lorna Jane remains the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Lorna Jane — a role that sees her designing collections, liaising with global suppliers, overseeing the company’s operations and acting as the face of her clothing. It is Lorna’s way of life that inspired the brand’s Move Nourish Believe philosophy and to this day it is her passion, determination and drive that continues to steer Lorna Jane in achieving its goals and enriching the lives of active women around the world.
