Food is always freshly made.
Service is friendly and on point.
I go here for the lunch buffet and every now and then, I order take out.
The Biriani is as spicy as I like it and the Chicken Tikka Masala is nicely balance between sweet and acidity.
The tamarind sauce is sweet, tangy and thick, as also the mango chutney.
The Naan is abundant and always hot.
The Beef Vindaloo is very tender.

Not at all tasty. We were looking for a Indian buffet and checked into this restraunt but not at all satisfied with the food. Even the plates were not clean and food was not hot. Worst Indian food I have ever had in Texas.

Unfriendly host!
We stopped by at 7:30 for dinner on wednesday (Diwali) night and the place was busy. One of the cleaners asked how many people and we were 5 of us. He said ok and walked away when a person who looked like the owner walks up and asks us how many. We say 5. He points at a couple of tables which could seat 4 and as a matter of fact says sorry we don’t have place for 5. Instead of could you pls wait or let me see what i can do. This is not hospitality and especially on Diwali night — an important indian festival for which he did not even wish us when he walked up. For such service, i will take my business elsewhere and say the same to others. Very un-​friendly and non-​hospitable host clearly!

I liked it. Indian food all starts tasting the same once you start eating it. We go for the lunch buffet & it’s good in my option. Some of the items were not as hot as I prefer but overall it’s a good place to get a quick Indian fix.

Total waste of money… horrible food… it used to be good but the taste and quality has gone really down… we ordered some wraps and the bread was totally raw and the filling was tasteless…

I was impressed with the atmosphere, friendly service, and the buffet style lunch. I don’t eat Indian food often but found Maharaja’s to be a wonderful experience.

Good Food. Great selection of Curries. Good Buffet as well. Naan was crispy and paneer tikka masala was yummy. I do feel most Indian restaurants offer same food and there is a need for change in the type of food that restaurants offer

I was not a fan of the paneer & curry dishes. The taste was very different then what I’ve grown up with and love from many other Indian restaurants around town. Also delivery took over 2 hours and there was no communication. I had to call the service to find out it was was that long of a wait, no updates provided via email or the website on the delay.

The Sunday buffet is outstanding! Stopped in tonight right at open time 530 pm. Everything was out and ready to go! It all tasted awesome in particular the pillow rice was very well prepared. Staff was fast and cordial. Well done!

Some of the best Indian food around. specifically, they do a great job with northern India cuisine. I have only been there for lunch, so I can’t give a full 5 stars until I eat dinner — but for lunch buffet, it’s just grand. The onion naan and garlic naan are phenomenal accents — but you have to order them specifically — they’re not out in the wild. Great place for lunch, reasonable price and great food!

Tasty Indian food — nice ambience and fast service. We ordered the lamb vindaloo, tilapia fish curry and tandoori chicken (kids plate). The vindaloo was good but the fish curry was too fishy. Might have to do with the technique with which the fish was cooked! The raita side order could use a better proportion of cucumber and yogurt. Ours didn’t have nearly enough garnish. I would go back here for a quick easy Indian option closer to home.

Good, clean, plentiful Indian buffet. I believe it’s M-​F buffet for lunch and Sunday evenings (maybe even all day Sunday)? I will say, if you go on an off hour, the pakora and naan can be a little stale. I heard the waitress tell someone that if they want fresh naan, they’d be glad to make some… so that’s good to know.
The chicken tikka masala is good in terms of the amount and quality of the chicken and sauce, but, it lacks in flavor a bit when compared to other ones I’ve had elsewhere. They had a dish there last night that I loved, but can’t remember the name even though I looked twice, ha. C’mon, it’s Indian… not easy to pronounce and remember… started with a B though! ;) It didn’t have meat, but it was mostly peas in this thick, brown stew-​like sauce. Flavor was awesome! There’s always a variety of options, but the consistent ones are tikka masala, tandoori chicken, saag paneer, vegetable pakora (they had fish ones too last night), and samosas… plus other options that day. Last night I saw an onion and okra dish, as well as an almond milk chicken type of dish. They also have salad and dessert options in the buffet. For $ 10, it’s a great deal and you will leave stuffed beyond belief!
Friendly staff, clean dining and buffet area, lots of parking in the lot out front. It’s a few doors down from Densetsu sushi, if that helps you. I was told by a native Indian that this place is «Americanized». Well hey, I’m ‘Merican and I like it that way! ;) Honestly, sometimes really authentic food (in any cuisine) is a bit weird for a non-​native anyway and I do prefer the Americanized version sometimes, haha.

I have been here a handful of times and have even been to weddings with the food catered from here. Every experience has been so great. I love their samosa and pakora a lot. Along with their butter chicken and naan! even their veggie items are delicious — Daal, palak paneer, and malai koftha! They have the perfect heat to all their meals… and I love that. I was surprised to come in during lunch buffet and see a lot of non Indians enjoying the buffet… They love their spicy Indian food it seems! Also catering from them has been a great experience from what I have heard… and we will be using them as well! So if you need any catering for big events, swing by here to get a quote!

I wish I can give it a –ve star. Where do I start bad food worse service. I am North Indian myself so the food is a joke. All tandoori items were dry and cold. You can tell that they just heated it in microwave. The food had no flavor. The funny thing is that they have a Picture of Hindu God Krishna and they r serving beef right under it… I will never go there again and will advise everyone against wasting their money. There r several better options closeby.

When I’m craving Indian food, I come to Maharaja for their $ 8.95 lunch buffet (SO CHEAP RIGHT?!). It has a wide spread of the classics (naan, paneer, chicken tikki masala, samosa, etc.) but it’s their desserts that I love especially. I especially like the coconut rice dessert. I find it really good bang for your buck. The quality I’ve noticed has been deteriorating and the service isn’t great but I come back here because it satiates my cravings and gets the job done.
I wished the food was more freshly fried. They used to bring naan to your table I believe but now the naan is just soggy.

After the unexpected closing of Roti Grill, it’s been a little difficult finding an Indian Restaurant. Maharaja is the next best thing if you’re looking for something close in the Plano area. It’s about 20 minutes away from where Roti Grill used to be.
Now, no one wants to admit that they usually opt for the Chicken Tikki Masala when they order at an Indian restaurant. And I’m no exception. Sometimes, I’m not the most daring when it comes to food especially when I’m extremely hungry. I don’t like to question or second guess what I’m eating when my stomach is begging for food.
Maharaja has that same relaxed atmosphere that Roti Grill possessed but its much smaller in scale. The place is a lot more visually elegant. It has nice chairs and tables with a buffet corner. You can select where you want to sit and when you have chosen, there is some thin round and large crackers (i’m not sure what to call it). They have two dipping sauces with one being green and a bit spicy and the other being a dark red sweet sauce. It’s really nice to have something to nibble one before you even have a chance to check in on Unilocal.lol.
The food here is a little bit more expensive than Roti Grill. As all Indian restaurants know, Chicken Tikki Masala is going to be chosen a lot so they of course charge about $ 10. Maharaja charges $ 11. I opted for a dish called BEEF SHAHI which has a cream and almond sauce. There are no photos in the menus so you kind of have to take the descriptions of each dish at face value. When I got the dish, it was basically large chunks of beef in a creamy sauce. It was paired with rice. I think it was delicious. You can change the level of spiciness. It’s a great alternative to the people who aren’t foodie risk takers.
I also chose to get garlic naan.
Let me just go off on a tangent about Roti Grill. I’m lamenting their garlic naan because it was fantastic. I mean, you knew instantly that you were biting into a piece of garlic naan. It had minced pieces of garlic inside the pockets of naan and it was warm and delicious. The naan at Maharaja is visually stunning. It looks really legit. It’s a giant piece of naan uncut and sprinkled with herbs and what looks to be roasted garlic. When you bite into it, well, just dont. Like don’t order it. It’s so plain and bland. I was shocked because I couldn’t even taste the garlic.
Overall, I spent about $ 28 for two meals. It’s not the greatest deals but its the norm with all Indian restaurants in the area. I’d say, it’s definitely worth a try.
