I had my hair cut back in May by this salon and I am still trying to grow out the AWFUL hair cut I was given; I even took a picture of the style I wore to show the stylist. I gave Steven Maxx one more try to do my hair, and once again they have messed it up! It is not as if I went to this place for the first time, I have frequented it often, and each time I have had my hair butchered. I am through being forgiving and will never go back.

So I have never actually made it to this salon, I am submitting my rating based on my experience booking and confirming an appointment. I booked an updo with a stylist for this Saturday using their online booking system. I received a call back stating that not only does the stylist I booked NOT do updo’s, they also don’t have an appointment available. Why offer an online booking system if it does not work, and is not accurate? #FAIL. Judging from the other reviews on this site, they just don’t have it together.

Laurel gave me a great haircut. i found her on Unilocal,the experience was so so but the cut was great and has lasted a long time.

Steven Maxx is under new ownership. The new owner reached out to me to make sure my bad experience was made up for. This salon really cares about customer service and satisfaction! I now highly recommend!

I have been going to Steven Maxx since the beginning of the year and very pleased with the results. Lonnie is an excellent hair stylist and is very particular, which I like because I am very picky. I have been looking for a talented stylist in Dallas for many years and have finally stumbled across Lonnie from a recommendation. I highly recommend Lonnie if you are looking for a stylist who is very good at what he does. (I subtracted a star because I was not as impressed with the shampooer since she smelled like cigarettes.)

I will not be going back here. I wanted blonde highlights and low lights. I left with an ashy grey color instead of blonde. Went back 2 days later to try to get it right and it still looks horrible. I’m not happy with my hair color at all. I should have gotten my money back. But I’m just done with this place.

I was overcharged 10 dollars by Laurel which she explained later to me on the phone when I called to ask why I was charged so much for services (which she was very rude to me about). I was charged 30 dollars for a blow out and 90 for a tint color (which is the first color before the permanent color-​btw the tint color lasted 3 days) So, 90+30 equals 120. She charged me 130. When she was explaining this to me over the phone she was so rude telling me
«I don’t know what salons you’re used to going to» and she actually said «I’m not worried about over charging you 10 dollars» Um, WHAT?! That’s unacceptable. No ifs ands or buts. I can’t possibly understand how anyone could live with themselves speaking to their client like how she did to me. Also never apologized to me. So anyways on top of that I had tipped her 20%. I’m so mad at myself for doing that because A. I was overcharged and B. The blowout didn’t last because I had to wash my hair again as soon as I got home because there was so much product in it. It was really bad. I will not recommend this salon to anybody. I have to say though, the receptionist was SO sweet to me. It’s about the only thing that makes me think happy thoughts from my experience at this salon.

I had my color and cut done by Hannah and she did a great job on the color. I could tell she has a lot of experience and knew what she was doing. I am grateful for that because I have had some bad experiences in the past. I was not pleased with her personality. I understand that my hair (was) long and is thick, curly and can be difficult. That’s why I went to get it done (thinned and cut). As soon as I sat in the chair she made me brush my own hair out. Never in my life have I had a hairdresser ask me to do this. Then she proceeded to sigh really loudly and kept say «Jesus Christ» multiple times throughout the entire session. Then she kept yelling at me about how I don’t take care of my hair and how it is so damaged and is going to fall out. I have been to many upscale salons and have never been told this. I’m actually always told that my hair is really healthy. I think that she could have given me advice without being so rude. I left the salon with a great hair color, but didn’t feel great at all. I felt put down and was really disappointed by how she treated me. I really don’t know if I will come back to this salon for that reason, although it seemed like a really great place.

If I could give negative stars I would !! My experience at the salon was awful. I bought the Groupon and went into get my full highlights, The stylist could barely speak English and didn’t really listen to what I wanted. She started coloring my hair and was putting bleach over already bleached pieces of hair I told her NOT to do this because it would cause too much damage, my hair would fall out, she responded with she knew what she was doing and everything would be fine. Then she took me to shampoo my hair where she left me in the shampoo bowl for close to an hour (my neck was killing me).
She started to brush my hair and sure enough all of it started falling out! huge clumps falling onto the floor– I immediately got upset — this is a girls worse nightmare !! I started crying and told her I needed to leave. She told me sorry I did the best I could, I could NOT even begin to speak to her at this point I was so furious and upset. My hair was not only falling out but I spent 4 hours there and it Didn’t even look different !! I went to the front and the lady asked for my groupon and I gave it to her (now I realize I shouldn’t have). She saw my crying and didn’t even care. As I was walking out with wet hair she said thanks for your business ! Seriously?!
It is now Days later my hair is still falling out.
These people are idiots ! Don’t go here unless you want your hair to fall out! I cried the entire day. I regret paying them at all. Now my hair is damaged all thanks to them.

My family has been coming to Steven Maxx for over 30years. I trust them fully and recommend any of their stylists!

Got my haircut there yesterday by a very beautiful women named Hannah. I told her to just do something with my long hair and that I wanted it styled nicely.
She did an absolutely amazing job, and was polite, professional, and super-​talented.
I may be moving a distance from this salon, but I will still go back and see Hannah for the best haircut I’ve ever had.

I won’t go anywhere else to get my hair done. Period. Go to Lisa.

Lisa is the best colorist I have ever been too. She has a passion for her work and it shows. In over two decades of coloring my hair I have never been serviced the way Lisa handles her clients. She’s thorough, nice to work with, and very knowledgeable. One of the first things she asked me was to walk her through my hair care and styling routine. She asked what my hair goals were. My hair was severely damaged and I wanted healthier hair. BUT I love coloring and highlighting too. She recommended a plan to give the look I wanted while doing the least damage to my hair.

This is the only place I go for my hair. I have long thicker hair. Attention to Detail should be Lisa Gary’s middle name. I really love her scissor technique and knowledge about hair. She always gives me tips on how to grow my hair healthier and styling tips for my type of hair.
Salon is beautiful and clean. Prices are reasonable due to the fact that I get a great cut with great techniques, expensive hair products are used, styling tips, and hair knowledge.

Recently moved to Dallas and was recommended a stylist here– she was wonderful! Friendly atmosphere and probably my favorite cut and color in a really long time! Thanks Lisa!

Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a new stylist. I go to Lisa Madera and she really has a consultative approach. I went in with an idea of the color I wanted and she asked me to pull up several different photos of blond hair that I liked. We went through them and she asked me what I liked and didn’t like about each. She told me why she did it this way since you can highlight/​tone several different ways. She was professional throughout the entire service and gave great advice on how to keep my hair healthy with certain products. I continue to go back to her and every time I get a great color/​cut that everyone compliments me on. Since going to Lisa and using her advice, we have grown healthy, strong, long blond hair!

Got a great haircut with PAUL at this salon. He takes his time and does a superb cut. I recommend a ivy league/​crew cut type cut (short sides/​back) and short and side part or up in front. He also did a great color for me to hide the white hair. I’ve followed him from his previous shop totally worth it. I always look professional but can rough up the hair and have a fun side too. I’ve seen his cuts for women also they are awesome. I’m very picky about my haircut. He only works a few days a week but its worth the wait. I will ONLY go to Paul. He also does a great relaxing shampoo. He will do just about any salon service and is great with highlighting men and women too. Great location too and reasonable prices. For men I need a haircut every 3 weeks and color too. Need to keep that youfhful look for business these days.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!!! When I called to make the appointment, the lady kept putting me on hold, very annoying, then I had to repeat myself. It should take 2 minutes to make a phone appointment, not 10! Then I arrive early because we are going to a photo shoot 2 hours later and I need time to get home and dress. The stylist I have is older and had BAD looking hair herself. What I have noticed over the years at salons… you want to have your hair done by someone that has great looking hair themselves! If they look CRAPPY, thats probably how you will leave. She was RUDE to the lady that washed my hair, then I am finally in the chair and she is moving in slow motion. I have explained to her I have to be done as soon as possible. She ignores me and starts to ARGUE with me about how long it takes to dry my hair and style it (like I don’t already know? its my hair and I’ve been taking care of it for 40 years!!) I had to tell her to quit speaking RUDE to me! Then I ask for the owner, Lonnie, who has just taken 45 minutes to cut a mans short hair and chat non stop with him the whole time (the salon is small so you can see everyone) to help my stylist curl the other side of my hair so I can be done, and he says he is too busy at the desk (he did not care in the least and there was another guy at the desk answering phones) What a disaster! SO unprofessional! I got out of there as fast as I could and will never return… you couldn’t pay ME to have go there again!

I just had my hair totally restyled at Steven Maxx Salon. (3-​8-​2013). I had a groupon and called to make my appointment. I spoke with the owner, Lonnie, who was extremely personable. He took the time to ask about me, my hair type, what I wanted and expected. He really went out of his way to match me up with a stylist. When was the last time that ever happened! At best you usually get a reception that takes your name and gives you an appointment a month away.
When I arrived for my appointment, I was made to feely very comfortable and at ease. My stylist was called up immediately and introduced to me. Esther was the best choice I could have hoped for. She was VERY knowledgeable, has a lot of experience and took the time to sit with me and really get to know what I wanted and my hair type. I never once felt rushed or uncomfortable. Her ideas were right in line with my own and I walked out with one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. I could not have been happier with my new look.
The staff were very friendly, they all talked and interacted with each other giving me the impression everyone was pretty happy with the place and their jobs. I especially like that the stylist washes your hair as well as styles it. I’ve been to places where one person cuts, the other styles, the other colors and there is a washer. That was the worst experience I ever had.
Steven Maxx is a full service Salon that is the perfect mix of stylish and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend Esther to anyone, but I have to say, from what I saw while I was there, you would be happy with any of the stylists.

I’m not a salon person. But I go to this salon, because my stylist there, Lisa Gary, knows exactly how to treat people who are not salon people. On my first visit, she asked me how much effort I was willing to put into my hair every morning, and I told her «essentially none,» and that I was willing to let her pick whatever style she thought was best as long as it would involve no work on my part and be about the length I wanted. She was totally comfortable with that. Since that day, she’s given me haircuts that are simple, grow out great, and can last me the eight months I’ll probably leave between each appointment. To a non-​salon-​person like me, it doesn’t get much better than that!
