Love this Sushi restaurant. Waitress and the Sushi chief are really nice. The food is always great. I would recommend this place to eat.

The tuna roll, the dragon roll, and spider roll were all truly excellent. We had an amazing server who was attentive and pleasant. We capped off the superb sushi with a generous serving of green tea ice cream. The ambiance is subdued and the sound track for dinner was pleasantly retro. Perfect wrap to the Memorial Day weekend.

Best Sushi in Plano! Ahi tuna tower is so delicious and the rolls are amazing. My kids and I eat here at least twice a month! Great service! If you are looking for a new sushi place look no further :)

Walked into Sushi Sakana at Parker and Custer just a moment ago to get some veggie and cucumber sushi. Place is empty, but I knew they had tv’s. Wanted to catch the end of the Warriors v Rockets game. Two TV’s in a small place each tuned to a baseball game. Waitress comes over and I order and then ask if she can turn one of the TV’s to the game. She places my order and comes back and says they can’t change the channel. When I ask why she says the sushi chefs want to watch baseball. I say there are two tv’s can she switch one. She tells me no! I say, do you normally not do what your customers want and she says, «We are not selling TV channels we are selling sushi.» I’m now at the Franchise watching the game. Wow!

Tucked away between a Starbucks and a nail salon… if you type in «Sushi Sakana» into google maps it’ll lead you to the opposite side of the plaza so just watch out for that. Came here for lunch on a Friday. There was only one waitress and 2 chefs thus the service was quite slow. The food was mediocre to average. The presentation of the food was actually more impressive than the taste. For the price of the rolls, they were quite small and flimsy. The sushi rice isn’t great quality and falls off the seaweed easily. The rolls weren’t rolled tightly. The quality of the fish was decent but sometimes I could not truly tell due to the amount of sauce added to the rolls. The staff is nice but the service is much too slow for average food. Probably won’t be back.

Cute little place tucked in a strip mall. Usually quiet, friendly service, and the food is delicious and well-priced. We’ve tried several different rolls, and they’ve all been delicious. We will definitely return.

Super friendly staff, amazing sushi! Just great all around. If you go there on a regular basis, they will greet you by name. Perfect neighborhood sushi restaurant.

Loved the look and the feel of this place, long before my food arrived. It is a quaint little place that was cozy on a cold night in Texas. The service was quick and friendly. As far as the food, it is certainly better than many sushi restaurants in the Dallas area, and the ahi tower was probably one of the best I have had.

Excellent sushi and sashimi! I lived nearby before moving to McKinney and this place was a favorite neighborhood spot! The service can be slow. I recommend sitting at the sushi counter. The chefs are friendly and personable. If you have a favorite roll that is not on the menu, ask and they will make it for you!

The only positive and saving grace was the food. It was good. Slow but good. On the other hand the service was overall absolutely TERRIBLe! We walked into an only half full restaurant with many dirty tables and had to wait for a table to be cleaned. The two waitresses were overwhelmed(don’t know why?) Besides being slow and forgetful they were not nice at all. The one woman was outright cold and rude. Honestly not acceptable if I am spending my money there and you are expecting a gratuity. This should be your last choice for sushi in Plano.

Found this place upon recommendations of my daughter, I can see this Sushi restaurant becoming a go to favorite if our experience today is any indicator. Very simple and clean décor and unlike all those startup new Sushi places that are popping up everywhere the two real deal old school Sushi chefs behind the counter make sure that every order is fresh and the presentation is top notch. You can really tell they take pride is every dish they send out. A great new find for fresh high quality Sushi in Plano.

This has got to the best place for Sushi in Plano. Very fresh, beautiful presentation, hole in the wall restaurant that deserves to be better known. We’re regulars but this time we branched out and tried the Plano in addition to our usual Ninja roll and spicy tuna rolls. Delicious! We also ordered the kids the chicken fried rice which is so tasty the adults ended up stealing from the kids. They have recently remodeled and the space is much bigger. Great sushi place, I just wish they didn’t have crab meat in 80% of the rolls

Pros — Good food Cons — Slow service, constant wait staff turnover, communication challenge between customer and the wait staff. This could be a great restaurant, if you address the Cons.

I went to Sushi Sakana with a co-worker for lunch today upon one of my student’s recommendations. It was delicious! Do not be fooled by its location in a strip mall between a Starbucks and a Wal Mart. The interior is decorated very cute with ambient lighting. The prices are reasonable, especially since they have lunch specials. We did family style and got the Cajun roll(a little too much mayonnaise), the sushi bento(very fresh sashmi!) and the spicy scallop sashmi(also very fresh). We were one of 3 customers and even though there was only waitress, the service was super speedy. We were in and out of there in 30 minutes! Just in time to get back and start 4th period! I think this place would even be a really nice dinner/date night place. I will definitely try it again for dinner!

Been here over 50 times in the last 2 years. The owners Chang and Sue are awesome. This place is where the locals go. I usually go to the big chain sushi restaurants to ensue fresh sushi. However, I decided to give it a shot one day and am very glad I did. The salmon sashimi(what i always order) I ordered was fresh. They’re known for their Spicy Crunch Roll and Alaskan Roll. They’ve got to die for calamari. Secret is in the sauce. We like to order 2 orders of that to satisfy a party of 3.

Boy has this place been around a good while! There’s a lot to be said by that too because a lot of restaurants and shops in this area are short lived. Their sushi is always prepared fresh and they have some creative rolls. I usually just stick to the basics. It’s a super tiny place but always intimate and inviting. The chefs and servers have always been accommodating. It’s also a great place to just to take out. I kind of wish they would expand the space a bit but it’ll do for now. So if you’re in the Plano area this spot is worth stopping by to check out.

Love this hole in the wall. If your looking for places that are off the beaten path, this is one of our favorite spots. We use to go more years ago and before we discovered more places to dine at in Frisco. The prices here are a great value to me and my husband and they have lots of choices.

Came here on a slow day — we were the only customers. Service was(unsurprisingly) good. We got the«monkey brain» appetizer which was decent. We then ordered the 16 piece lunch to share(it comes with a California roll) plus a spider roll . My wife dislikes California rolls & didnt realize one came with the lunch. I gloated, knowing I ‘d have it all to myself. She decided to try«just one piece». Tragically, she loved it, and repeatedly remarked how this was the first California roll she’d ever enjoyed. It had way less nasty mayo, for one thing. The spider roll was probably the best one I’ve ever had.

Our typical sushi haunts in this area are Zenna and Densetsu. We love both places for different reasons. We decided to try something different though. Happy hour is BOMB. $ 2 for a large hot sake. You can have some serious fun for next to nothing because I think they had beer specials too. The service was fantastic — our server was very attentive. The sushi was priced very appropriately for what you got and it came out in a timely manner. I could tell from the look of the place that the night we went, there were some regulars. I’d definitely go back.
