Best Colombian food in West Broward. The service is excellent. Big shout out to the Vicky, Betty, Patty, Brenda, Dayana, Zulma, Paola. Best group of ladies. Love them. Thank you for your service and hospitality.

This place is very nice. Reasonably priced and has good food made fresh. It may take some time to get you food but it’s cause they are actually cooking it to order. Drinks are good. Chicarones could use a bit more salt but otherwise very well done. We buy them on side to take home and make mofongo. Hubby always enjoys the sopes(soups). They are serves in giant bowls and extremely hot the way he likes soup. Worth visiting.

This was our first time eating at a Colombian restaurant and I have to say– we will be back! EVERYTHING we ordered was very very good and really exceeded our expectations. The ambiance was pleasant– clean and decorated in Colombian flare which was very nice. The waitress seated us quickly and she was friendly and made good recommendations. The appetizer ordered was the Maduros en crema, phenomenal. I ordered the Milanese chicken with salad, rice and French fries. I’m not a big rice eater so I left it in the plate but everything else was really good. The fries were literally perfect and how I like them… Slightly crispy on outside and soft on inside– you can tell they’re fresh and not old. The salad waste ally good and fresh too(sometimes at Latin restaurants they serve gross salad that is very boring or veggies that are frozen from a bag– yuck) ok the chicken Milanese was thin and lightly crispy– delicious.!! My husband ordered the grilled chicken with cilantro potatoes– omg I tried both and they were on point! He also ordered a fresh guanabana juice– very very authentic and refreshing. To end we wanted to try a traditional deserts So we chose the«natas» and it was just sweet enough after a very filling meal. Overall-we would be back for sure!

I have been eating here for over a year. Just recently this place has gone downhill! I am very disappointed in my last few meals. The past three times I called I was out on hold and nobody came back to the phone, I had to hang up and call back to order. The chicken used to be so tender and juicy… It is now dry and fatty(gross). This next sentence is just me being petty. Lol … They also can never understand my name. My name is Vinny… Not biny, as it says on my receipt. This used to be my favorite go-to place on the weekend. I will never order from here again. Goodbye El Bacon!

I absolutely love this place probably the best Colombian restaurant I’ve had in broward and dade county. I had the carne aguacatada which is something I would never order but I was totally craving for steak and boyfriend went for the bandeja paisa. Both amazing!!! The only reason I’m giving it a 4 stars is because the pandebonos aren’t good and that’s what we order to start. Agua de panela too sour but other than that, service and food are amazing! Favorite Colombian spot. The rice is to dieeeee for I could just sit and eat white rice from them, and my best friend is Dominican and she loves the beans! You know they’re good when Dominicans love them lol. Chicharron, steak, rice, beans, everything amazing! Thank you!

The food was ok. We went here on a Saturday morning and had breakfast. The fried egg was good the chicharrones were not that great, but the chirasco steak was tender and juicy but there was nothing special to the flavor. The service was nice, but slow. We waited for a long time for our check, our drinks, and extra napkins. It was pretty clean. We may go back here again for breakfast to try something else.

Came here with co-workers for a midweek lunch. We arrived just before the lunch rush so we were seated right away. The whole experience was super mediocre. The food was not really bad, however it wasn’t really that good either. The chicken breast(pollo a la plancha) was under seasoned and over cooked. The service was similar. Not bad enough to complain, but not good enough to come back.

We’re always looking to try new things, and a Columbian restaurant was high on our list, but unfortunately this one fell short. The service was good, with a friendly wait staff. But my food was simply way overcooked. I think it would have been ok had the steak and pork not been burnt to a crisp, but it’s hard to say. The chicken and rice was good though. And the grilled chicken was cooked properly, but quite bland. The fruit juices were pretty good, though they are pricey. All in all, I wouldn’t return.

Had the Fried Red Snapper and I’m still thinking about it, crunchy and flaky with moist insides. It reminded me of eating fried fish on the beach in Jamaica. I was offered a side of rice, tostones and salad. I took that home because the fish alone was too much for one person to eat :) Everyone raved about the daily specials and the soups tasted great with an authentic flare. They offer a different special and soup every day so check the menu before you go. For lunch, the food came out super fast for our large group of 8. I want to go back on a Saturday to try the Oxtails.

This is the second location I’ve had the pleasure of dining at. The first location was near my home in Boca. Because of this I’ll base my review by comparing the two. This location seems«roomier» which is strange considering this is part of a strip mall as opposed to the free standing building at the Boca location. I went during the later part of the lunch hour during work and there was no wait for a table yet they were at full capacity. During my time there I watched the tables cycle very quickly, meaning the service was very prompt and able to turn over tables at a great pace keeping the venue full with no wait. The menu/food was exactly the same selection as the other location from what I recall. Wide selection of authentic Colombian & Latin food, with thorough descriptions for those, like myself, who don’t understand espanol. I ordered the pan con bistek(steak sandwich) which I thoroughly enjoyed, which I knew I would, because I’ve honestly yet to try something here that disappointed me. The service at both locations was phenomenal, fast & courteous. My server this time, who’s name escapes me, was a pleasure, and I’ll admit she alone would make me come back here again and again. I’m absolutely in love with this(I hate to say it) chain restaurant, I say this because I think they’re up to 6 locations within a short amount of time, but I do see them growing quickly and staying successful, as long as they can remain true to their current way of business.

I have no complaints whatsoever about my visit. The line was out the door when I arrived but I was still seated rather quickly. Everything from the rice to the steak to the homemade salad dressing was amazing! Everything was flavorful and the atmosphere was very nice. I felt like I was in Columbia lol very cute restaurant.

I cannot Unilocal enough wonderful words about El Balcon De Las Americas. They consistently provide amazing authentic Colombian(and other Latin American) dishes to all of Broward County. El Balcon has developed into a small local chain of restaurants and their growth has been steady and well deserved. The most convenient location for me is the one in Sunrise near Sawgrass Mills. Everything I have ordered here has been fantastic, but the best value around is the weekday special. For $ 8.95 you get soup with a giant plate of delicious fresh food. It seems that the soup and the entrée are never the same, but they are always amazing. They subscribe to a «mas es mas» philosophy here and it is impossible to leave hungry. Each main course comes with at least one side and usually a couple more. Aside from the lunch specials, I tend to order the Colombian specialties like the incredible Bandeja Paisa(Steak, Fried Egg, Beans Rice, Arepa, and an irresistible slab of chicharron) or the Chuleta Calena(breaded pork, w beans, rice and plantains). If you are more adventurous(and I am not) they also offer the less common delicacies like Lengua(Beef Tongue), Mondongo(Tripe) and liver. Service is usually excellent, but it can be inconsistent. Sometimes as an English only speaker, there is a bit of a language barrier. Also, there have been lunches where our table has been forgotten for long stretches of time. Luckily this never happened on my earlier visits so now that I am under Balcon’s spell these lapses in service seem to matter less.

The food here is good, the prices are reasonable. They seem to be very popular in the area my folks love to come here and they are always raving about it, coming from New York I’ve personally had better, especially in Queens, NY where you practically find food like this on every corner, but for this area the food is good. The wait staff is friendly and they offer live music, a nice older man playing his keyboard while you dine, adds to the atmosphere. They also have large screen tv’s which allow you to enjoy soccer games etc. If I have any complaints it would be that they close too early, but then again everything in this area closes early. They have a good menu with many varieties of soups and stews, seafood, steak for you to choose from. I recommend the Sancocho. I also find it a bit misleading when they have menu options that are clearly not Colombian but they choose to promote it and establish it as such, such as Colombian Fajitas, Colombian Guacamole or Colombian Quesadillas, these dishes are clearly Mexican and not Colombian, everyone knows that. Colombians try to stamp their country name all over everything, you never hear Italians call their Spaghetti and Meatballs«Italian Spaghetti and Meatballs» or Italian Piazza lol. It’s a bit unnecessary. They have good corn arepas with cheese and the empanadas are pretty good, make sure to try their house made hot sauce, tasty. They offer take out as well, grab a menu and give them a try if you are ever in five area.

My boyfriend and I were hungry after an afternoon of furniture shopping in the Sawgrass Malls area and stumbled upon this place while searching nearby restaurants on Unilocal. What a gem! This restaurant has such a homey feel to it. The food was fantastic. Authentic Colombian cuisine where everything was cooked perfectly. Between us two we ordered enough food for four people, but we were eager to try a lot of different things. We started with an order of the Platanos con Crema y Queso and the Patacones(tostones) with Guacamole. I had never had sweet plantains like these before — they were so delicious! The contrast of flavors between the sweetness of the plantains and the salty cheese, together with the contrast in temperature — hot plantains, cold crema and cheese — was what really made this dish stand out for me. It was also a huge serving, enough for 2 – 4 people to share. The patacones(I’m Cuban so I refer to them as tostones) were very crispy and well seasoned. The guacamole was also very good. Again, this appetizer is big enough to share between 2 – 4 people. For our main dish we both ordered a Bandeja Paisa with carne asada and my boyfriend got the additional side of chorizo. As is this norm with this Colombian dish, you get A LOT of food. Their red beans and white rice were so delicious, it reminded me of my Mom’s home-cooking. The pork rinds were fantastic — perfectly cooked and crispy. The carne asada was also cooked and seasoned really well. The only downside to my dish was that my fried egg was overcooked, the yolk was solid and not runny like I had hoped(my boyfriend’s, however, was runny). Between us two we had enough leftovers of our appetizer and main dishes to take home and have for breakfast the next morning. Two meals for the price of one(win-win)! As if we hadn’t had enough food already, no meal is complete for me without dessert. I had to try their cuatro leches dessert. It was good, nothing out of this world, but I was satisfied with it. All-in-all, we had a great experience at this restaurant. The service was also great — the waitress was attentive and personable. We will definitely be returning the next time we have a craving for Colombian food!

They’re good but could use some improvement in some areas. All in all it’s tough to be hard on any good Spanish restaurant in this area since there is such a lack of them. This place is Colombian of course and the food is actually very good but lacks consistency. If you order a Lomo saltiado on a busy day and then order it on a regular day when it’s slow, you’ll get two completely different portion sizes and the sauces will vary in flavor a lot. Not sure why that is but inconsistency is the only thing that comes to mind. The bandeja paisa is a steal for the price and amount of food they give you at that price. By far the best bargain on the menu and I’d get it with the grilled steak instead of the ground beef. The chicharon is very good but same thing here it unfortunately lacks consistency. Sometimes it’s overly cooked and burnt and other times it’s cooked perfectly. The selection is great, they have a lot of good Colombian specialties ready to go in the window if you want to gran something and go. They also have all the favorites from Colombia like Manzana, Colombiana, Bön Bön Booms, Frunas, you name it! I frequent this place and although I see room for improvement, it’s not bad considering the lack of options in the neighborhood for Spanish food.

Came in for lunch on a weekend and the place was SLAMMED. It’s a fairly big place, but there was still a 10 minute wait — no biggie. We set up on one of the outside tables and waited to be called. We noticed people clearing out — and one group walked in — and was immediately sat? What about the other 4 tables waiting outside? Maybe it was a mixup. We are next and another family walks in — they go straight to a table. What? The hostess quickly goes and gets them out of the booth and tells them there is a wait outside. She calls us in and apologizes for them. The first thing I didn’t like is that they have a gentleman playing the keyboard. It’s totally not the right vibe for what this place is. Some subtle mood music over the speakers would be a lot better — in my opinion. The servers were great. Speedy with grabbing our orders. I got a soda and he brought over a glass. The glass was filthy. Actually, both glasses he brought over were filthy(the wife got a soda as well). We just put the straws right in the can. The food came out and was quite tasty. Here’s the rundown: Maduros con crema: These are fried sweet plantains, drenched in a delicious cream sauce — and cheese on top. It’s a new app. Get it, you won’t regret it. Bandeja Paisa: This is a monster of a meal. Rice, beans, fried egg, chicharon, steak, arepita and a slice of avocado. The beans were amazing. You can tell they weren’t just from the can, they were MADE there. The entire dish was great — the chicharon leaved a little to be desired and was SUPER dry on the meat side. The steak has a great«grill» taste to it. I did have another bandeja paisa fairly recently and it was a lot bigger(and actually cheaper) than this one. All in all it was good — but not as good as the other one. I’d come back — but definitely not on a weekend afternoon. As we were leaving most of the tables were empty already — so it’s good to go around 3pm. There’s good. There’s bad. All in all it leaves them at 3 stars overall, which is still good!
