Even don’t think to eat here! The wings are worse than in $ 1 Walmart meals. I got chicken loaded with beach sand and salt. And i paid for that like in normal restaurant.

I live nearby and I decided to try this place out. I ordered a chicken Philly over the phone. I got to the restaurant 15 minutes later and when I asked for my order they told me that they are out of chicken Phillies. When I asked why wasn’t I told over the phone, the server replied«Oh I didn’t think about it then». I was mildly upset. So I said I’m here and I might as well order something. I asked for a chicken sandwhich and they charged me for a chicken philly,(which was an upcharge) and seven me a fish sandwhich. When I asked for a supervisor, he looked ny direction and walked to the back. I’ll never go back there

Excellent place to eat if you are craving seafood. Ordered their fried catfish dinner… best in town… You get so many pieces and the price is right. Eaten there three times in one week while we had out of town Quest cause they kept craving the catfish…

I bought some fried shrimps and fries. It was nasty. It was like I was chewing on sand. Not sure if they over did it in the seasoning but it was terrible. I rather go to SNAPPERS.

I was passing by this place and had a craving for fried oysters, so I had to stop. I was skeptical walking in and almost changed my mind entirely on my lunch choice. The majority of fried oysters I have had in my life have been small and somewhat chewy… These really surprised me. First of all, I took them to go as I was on this side of town for a doctor appt at a new doctor’s office and wasn’t quite sure where I was headed. I was early, however, so I figured I would locate the doctor’s office first, park, and then enjoy my lunch before going in. I have to say, the smell of my lunch in the bag was overpowering the car and they really smelled AMAZING! I was tempted to grab one before finding the place, but was worried that if I opened the box, I would let in cool air and cause all of them to cool down much faster and I wanted to enjoy them hot. When I finally reached my destination, I dove in, and I was definitely not expecting these to be the best fried oysters I have ever had! They were huge, not chewy at all, fresh tasting, and not overcooked in the slightest. They went very nicely with the cocktail sauce and lemon juice I requested! So good. I hope to be on this side of town again soon! And just an edited note: 5 stars are just for the oysters because they deserve 5 stars, but they were all I tried here.

I was craving some fried catfish fried with cornmeal batter and I landed in heaven. If you can get past the inside appearance and very casual service and cleanliness, then you’ll be be pleased. I’m a foody and for me it’s all about the taste and portion size. Hook does it right and I plan to be a loyal customer. My son and I both stuffed ourselves and the bill was only $ 19.

I’ve been a Hook fan for years now. Used to work in the Deerfield Beach area and there was a location right up the street from my job. I love fried fish and Hook delivers some pretty darn good fried Tilapia. Not sure what kind of seasoning is used but they sprinkle it on both the fish and fries when your order is complete. Your order is cooked right when you order it so it’s always piping hot. No one likes to eat cold, fried fish. I’ve sampled just about everything on the menu from the shrimp, to the conch, to the crab cakes and it always tastes fresh and Hook never disappoints.

Sure it may be going towards a weirder part of town, but isn’t some of the best foods sometimes in not the most desirable locations? Food speaks for itself. You have that itch coming on for southern style fried seafood and chicken? Well, this place should pop up in your head to alieve that itch. I’ve only had the seafood here and its all been terrific. Their coating is more of a cornmeal based than flour breading which I enjoy more on fish because it leaves a crunchier texture. Nothing fancy, and nothing complex. You pick your meal combos plates or create your own. All their foods are seasoned the same with a salt, pepper, sugar, citric acid, multi-purpose kind of seasoning that works well on everything. I recommend the catfish sandwich and the conch and shrimp combo plate. Everything I’ve had has always been fresh tasting and freshly made to order. They are open later than many other restaurants which is perfect since that’s usually the time when one runs out of options for good food.

The food is really good but the service sucks. Takes forever to get your food. Even if you call your order in. For example, I called my order in at 12:25p and I am still waiting for my food and it is 1:33p.

It’s ok the prices are decent but the breading really has no flavor. it’s better than going to Mcdonald or burger King. I’ve been to multiple locations. … and all the damn time the always forget to give me cocktail sauce for my shrimp dinners … and the shrimp tho good in size are flavorful enough to be eaten with out the cocktail sauce.

Fresh fried fish, southern style. We frequent this spot often and we have never been disappointed. Try the Grouper, it’s my favorite. My husband favorite is the Ocean Perch. The combo deal is the way to go and a great value. You have the option to mix and match two or three menu items with a side and a drink. I either go for 10 shrimp and a piece of Grouper or sometimes I choose the wings. I’m always full and happy when we decide to go here and I would recommend this place to any seafood lover looking for a good southern meal. Enjoy!

As much as it pains me I have to downgrade my former review. They shrank the shrimp and changed the fries to some hard thin ones! Why fix what isn’t broke!!! Fried southern food-lightly battered and seasoned well! Everything is cooked to order — so how can you miss? I have had the fish, shrimp, conch, and chicken wings so far. For the lunch specials, between 10:30−3 the meals include fries. For the dinners, you have a choice of fries or rice and beans. I finally went on a binge and tried the rice and beans the other day and dang, I have been missing out! Honestly, they look just like watered down rice and beans, but boy when you taste them… oooh la la! You can call ahead so that your food is ready when you get there or as I said they will cook everything to order. They have several locations, apparently, that I have been depriving myself of. One in Miami Gardens, Lauderhill, Sunrise and Lauderdale Lakes. Here is the link to the menu and the locations. I have been to the 441 location in Oakland Park, and this location in Sunrise. I have never been disappointed! The chicken wing meal comes with the full wing also which is a value add. Not too many places that you can go to anymore and get Southern fried food cooked to order! Have I had tastier wings, yes, however, the value along with consistently fresh and yummy gives it 4 stars!!! Still good but no longer great. They have drive thrus and tables inside, although I have never been inside. They provide sauces, catsup, etc and service with a smile! Enjoy and Bön Apefried goodness!!!

I don’t think there are enough O’s to express how much I looooooooooove this place. I stumbled across it one day and was happy I did. It definitely serves the best fried fish I’ve ever had. It is light and slightly crisp on the outside with a juicy filet. I’m obsessed with the seasoning they use. Great flavor. Every order is cooked fresh, so I suggest waiting a bit because I have totally burned my mouth before from getting too anxious. Haha. I always do take-out. [The dinning area looks like it could be spruced up.] I recommend calling ahead to place your order and then picking up in the drive-thru. They take cards! :-)

Hubby ordered takeout: whole breaded wings, conch fritters, and corn fritters for dinner during the Grammy’s. First time ever eating Hook and it was really satisfying. Not the best neighborhood location but worth a try.

I don’t know why nobody told me about this place sooner?! Just pure GOODNESS. I am not really into fried foods because it isn’t healthy for you, however we ALL get a taste for something fried every now and then. I had the #1 platter, which you get to choose 2 meats and it comes with fries and coleslaw. I had the tilapia and chicken wings as my two meats. The fish and chicken was fried very good and the food wasn’t too greasy, which was a plus! The next time I am home, I will go back to Hooks for my fried food fix LOL

Disclaimer: I do not like fried chicken! But I do LOVE fried fish and this place has really good, fresh fried fish. The fried mac n cheese is super tasty and according to my husband and everyone else that has had the fired chicken — It’s the best they’ve had.

Good fish, fried fresh. Good price on the lunch specials as well.
