It started a couple of years ago, when I brought in a cocktail dress that needed cleaning two weeks prior to the date I needed it. When I went to pick it up, two or three days before the wedding, I was told that they couldn’t clean it because of the beading. What happened to the telephone to let me know there was a problem? They didn’t give me very much time to go buy another dress, did they? And so it happened again. Needed a dress shortened, brought it in on Saturday, told them I really needed to pick it up on Thursday a.m.(normally it would be Thursday after 5), he made note. I came in at 7 a.m. on Thursday, he couldn’t find my dress. Looked for it for 20 minutes while I waited. Could not find dress. Told me that I should come back after 5. I couldn’t make it back before they closed. I needed it for the next morning. Got it my car, drove to work, got a phone call in the car telling me they found my dress. Come back. Couldn’t. I ended up having someone else pick up my dress. It wasn’t as if I specifically asked for Thursday a.m. and he said okay. Once shame on you; twice shame on me; there won’t be a third time. It’s too bad, because they do a good job with alterations and cleaning and there aren’t many in the area. Prices are pretty good too. I usually like giving locals my business, but not this one.

After being turned away from Sparkling Cleaners my girlfriend knew of another spot and that spot was Monty’s Airport Cleaners. I walked in on Friday(04-05-2013) and told them I needed one item(a shirt) dry cleaned and ready for pickup on Monday(04-08-2013). I was immediately told ‘no problem, your item will be ready by 5:00pm.’ I asked the cashier/employee if my item could be ready any earlier again with no hesitation the cashier/employee told me it will be ready by 3:00pm, total cost $ 5.00. I very rarely ever use dry cleaning services so I would be fibbing if I said I would be back to this location for any other reason other than to pick up my shirt. I did notice a sign outside of the door of this business that if you bring in 5 items to be dry cleaned you receive 20% off of your total bill, with dry cleaning services as expensive as they are any saving count. The parking for this spot was a little small which is quite troublesome with the business being located on a corner and no street parking. If the lot is full you will have to find a way around and the block and keep driving by until a space opens. I specifically asked for ‘no starch’ when I dropped my shirt off. I will write an update my review when I pick up my shirt and all is well.

Avoid this dry cleaners!!! Brought in a brand new shirt to be dry cleaned and when I picked it up it had a streak through it. When I returned it I was told to come back on Monday.(it was Friday). Came back on Monday and was told by the employee, «It was brought in this way.» As I started to complain I was told«you don’t have to be rude». I wasn’t rude, I was saying how wrong they were. Then was told«I am just an employee and I cannot do anything about this, talk to the manager.» Customer service is awful here. Go somewhere else.

This place does not use environmental friendly dry cleaning technology so we don’t take our clothes there for dry cleaning. However, their alteration is pretty good. I had 2 pairs of pants altered there. I am very particular about the stitching, especially for the dress pants, because my mom was a professional at one time. She could hide all the threads and still shorten the pants really well like no work was done. Monty is also not bad. It’s a bit expensive($ 10 per pair of pants) and slow(1 week) but the job was nicely done. Not bad. It’s one step below visiting a professional seamstress.

Dry cleaners tend to ask you whether you want your stuff three days from now or when you start collecting Social Security. To me this sounds like laziness since there are places offering less than a day turnaround for pieces. Monty’s is upfront in offering one-day turnaround. That’s all I really need for a tie.
