+awesome place to live .6 miles from the beautiful bike path at dockweiler beach and waaaay more affordable and spacious than the other buildings we looked at in this little beachside neighborhood. food spots, little liquor stores/​markets, coffee shops are all very walkable on pershing and down to culver. great location just outside of busy LA, but still close enough to get me to mid-​city LA via surface streets in 30 – 45 minutes during rush hour.
pet-​friendly. variety of neighbors in building, all of whom seem to be low-​key, friendly and trustworthy. great insulation — we’ve never heard a peep out of them. gated underground parking garage. lots of street parking usually available on manitoba, though parking on delgany is often tight. big, free-​for-​all storage units in garage and additional storage space available in front of your assigned parking spot. an abundance of cabinets and closets and sinks in the apartment. attentive management, maintenance, etc. not the most stylish building but it’s clean with lush, beautiful landscaping. really great built-​in gas grill and gas fireplace out by the pool, which is heated between spring and fall during daylight savings times. can’t hear a single airplane overhead if double-​paned windows are closed. living here is a dream!
– except! … this is more just a funny part of living here than an annoyance, because we can always close the windows, but… apartments on the north (non-​manitoba) side of the building overlook and overHEAR the driveway and parking stalls of the Delgany Princess apartments next door. sound echoes or something, because when the windows are open, we hear every car that speeds through and every conversation that happens in that parking lot. and i’m not sure if those next-​door-​neighbors just let their guards down because they don’t know we’re listening, but it’s pretty much a building full of a-​holes. this is surprising because it’s a really nice building with a pretty fountain out front. they’re always yelling at their kids, chatting loudly with their neighbors in the driveway, whatever. this morning, some d-​bag was confrontationally yelling out the window at the gardener for his own building about the noise! «yeah, i’m talking to you!» seriously… to the guy doing his job keeping up the landscaping. what the hell?! ok, i’ve vented enough. definitely don’t move into THAT building next door!
