Nancy is the owner of Color and Style Salon. She is an expert on cutting and coloring curly hair. I always get lots of compliments from people about my hair. I have been a customer of Nancy’s for over 20 years.

Bongga is such a gifted artist when it comes to beautifying women! She knows what looks good on a client that will match his or her personality and lifestyle.
The first time I met her, I was immediately drawn to her warmth and bubbly personality. I’ve worked with her in fashion shows and photo shoots and always looked SO FABULOUS! Plus she makes sure that your hair always looks vavava-​voom during a photo shoot. I love her attention to detail. Bongga has been styling my hair and makeup for several events. Not only is she extremely talented with creating looks to match your personality and style and the event you are attending, Bongga is also warm, professional and makes you feel as if looking your absolute best is her top priority. She will make you look absolutely your most stunning self when she is done styling your hair and makeup. I also know that not only does she make her clients beautiful with her craft, she also donates her time and artistic abilities to events for non profit organizations. Bongga is amazing!

I am actually located in San Diego, but all of my family is located in Vallejo. I am up in the area very often for major family events (weddings, holidays, major birthdays, etc)… If you know Filipinos, you know it’s always a huge party.
Which is why I love being able to count on Bongga for some fab hair (both cuts and styling) whenever I am visiting for a party (maybe 3 – 4 times a year).
The last time I was here, she did exactly what I had asked her — kept my length as I had requested and added perfect layers that gave my hair more movement and a lighter feel to my thick hair — without over doing it on the layers to give me a mushroom-​looking cut, which is a problem I’ve had a few times with some other hairstylists… She also added some shorter layers in the front to frame my face — something I didn’t even realize was much needed.
I’m always happy with my cut.
As for styling, my fav is honestly just some tousled natural looking waves /​loose curls. I think Bongga does an awesome job at a natural look — for both hair and makeup. She definitely knows how to enhance every girl’s natural beauty.
I do not currently color my hair, but I know that once I decide to take the plunge, Bongga will be the first person I trust to take on any of my coloring requests.

Bongga!!! I’m so happy and excited I found you again! Bongga has been cutting, coloring, and highlighting my hair for about 15 years. I lost contact with her after I moved out of the bay area for a few years but when I moved back I was extremely happy to find that she still does hair in the area.
I’ve had Bongga prep my hair for interviews, parties, date nights, and weddings. I always get compliments on my hair.
Bongga stays up to date with fashion, hair techniques and makeup techniques, so I trust her to do her magic when I want something different. She also listens when I want something a little specific for example layers to lighten the weight of my hair in the back as well as to frame my face well when I let my hair down. The way she cuts my hair also provides the perfect separation and movement I needed but couldn’t verbalize. She gets to know you as a person and not just a client so that she can match your hairstyle to your lifestyle.
I always leave her salon feeling fresh and polished. That’s why I always recommend her to my friends in and out of the area, My friends who have had hair/​makeup done by Bongga have nothing but great and positive things to say about her work.
For those long coloring/​highlighting sessions, she even makes 2 – 3 hours fly with her hilarious stories and friendly demeanor.
I love Bongga and I consider her family. I’m not sure where the previous reviewer is coming from, but I have never experienced anything close to his review in the 15 years Bongga has done my hair. My only recommendation is to communicate as best you can with what you want done. Bring a photo if needed but communication is key.
I’d also like to point out that if Lee R. (the previous reviewer) was so unhappy with his haircut, why did he have such a big smile in that photo he uploaded? I assume that photo was taken after his haircut was finished. Even the woman in the background had a huge smile. Perplexing…

Bongga has done my hair for a while now. I find her to be knowledgeable about my hair and provide good advice about how to improve my hair care. I use her to prepare for interviews, and always come out looking sharp.
Also, she is very social and personable with me. I wouldn’t use anyone else to cut my hair.

If Bongga could keep her mouth shut and focus on the hair shes cutting maybe my hair would be somewhat even when it grows back in. She yaks way too much and is sonspazoid forgets to cut giant chunks of hair. Sideburns are not her strongpoint tonsay the least. I mean how can you screw up sideburns right? Also do not get personal and/​or social with her because due to her great oblivion of how the world works she ends up stabbing you in the back for no aparant reason. Yeah. Just stick to the hair

THE WORST «salon» experience EVER. DO NOT GO HERE.
I have hair that’s been dyed and permed, and I had just at home stripped my hair of the black semi permanent dye and wanted to re-​dye my hair to a dark brown. I thought I’d better leave it to professionals.
NO PROFESSIONALS FOUND HERE IN TERMS OF QUALITY AND SERVICE.
Nancy showed me a book of dye colors, I told her I wanted a dark brown, and if possible, with an ash base to neutralize the warmth in my hair. Her selection was very limited and she didn’t seem to know what she was doing. No input, no advice, no professional opinion. She asked the other lady working (I wish now I got her name) for help I guess, and the other lady gave me her book of colors which had more of a range.
Nancy then straight up walks out of the salon while telling me that the other lady will help me. No apology, no explanation, nothing! She just jets out the door!
By the time the other lady gets to me, it’s been an hour since I got there. The client she’s working on is complaining that while the color was ok, it was very chunky, exactly what she had expressed she DIDN’T want. The stylist was arguing how it was fine and talks SOO much, the client can’t really get a word in edgewise. Alarm bells ringing…
I should have left then.
She comes to me and asks me to choose color bc she «has to go buy it». What? They don’t have it in their salon? Strange. I choose a dark ash brown, give her the background story of my hair and repeatedly tell her my concerns about going too dark. Something tells me I have to keep driving my points home bc this lady is constantly gabbing and overtalking her previous client and me. I also tell her a couple times that I don’t want it to go too dark, that it shouldn’t be left on too long bc my processed hair (not very damaged, just prior processes) will probably grab hair color very fast (I have dyed my hair at home a lot so I know). She tells me how she only uses the expensive stuff, professional «10 dollars a tube, ok» and how even if she left it on 3 hours, it will NOT process darker than it should.
So, She LEAVES me in the salon for 25 mins and goes to buy the hair color. I’ve never seen that! So now it’s 1 ½ hrs since I got there and now we’re starting. Why the HELL did I stay???
She mixes it in front of me in the same bowl she used on her previous client who got blond highlights without cleaning the bowl!!! She just runs it under some water, no wiping. I ask her if its clean and she looks at me afronted (I have already questioned the validity of her «professional» products) and says «YES». She takes out a huge wire whisk and the product she uses is a squeeze tube mixed with some developer. I’m worried. I don’t care if its annoying, I repeat my concerns about the color grabbing too dark and the processing time. She overtalks me (DOES NOT LISTEN THIS LADY) about blah blah blah and the color is on my hair. Oh, and she puts in little digs about Nancy and her pricing, how she uses inferior dye products.
WHY DIDN’T I JUST LEAVE.
30 mins later i’m sitting there with pretty much black hair again. When I express my disappointment, she gets defensive and basically won’t listen, repeating that its not dark at all, how wonderful it is, etc. I’m annoyed that she won’t listen, in fact, she Hasn’t listened the whole time. It escalates into an argument. This lady is arguing with me and not just arguing, she is being rude. Now I have received botched dye jobs and haircuts maaany times in my life and just shlumped home sad but always paid and not getting into any altercations with the stylist. But holy moly this lady takes the cake in her lack of skills and attitude. I lose my cool and tell her I will not pay full price of 80, she charges me 49 and I leave in a huff. I should have just walked out.
NEVER. AGAIN.

I have been to numerous colorists over the last 25 years. Nancy is far and away the most skilled, the most artistic and the most conscientious. My hair had been recently (badly) colored and she spent 3 hours putting in the most beautiful highlights. She had to work so hard to deal with the underlying black and brown of the previous colors, and did not stop until she was happy with the results. She has a vision and a plan for my hair that I love and i have every confidence in her ability to create it. Wow! I am so impressed! And, she is a lovely person, to boot.

Nancy does my hair, my daughters hair, my sister in laws hair, my 2 niece’s hair, my sister in laws Mom and Dad’s hair, as well as my sister in laws brother, his wife and son’s hair… for years!
