I have waited nearly 5 months to write my review because I wanted to live with my built in cabinets for awhile first. My experience with BH&W was excellent compared to some other reviewers here. I dealt with them directly after speaking with a rep at a festival. Their very professional and personable designer came to my house. I did not feel rushed. She really listened to what I said I did not want and created something contemporary with a great color scheme that anyone who has come to my house since the installation has been very impressed with. No doubt, a major investment but I don’t want to have to consider replacing — EVER. BH&W treated me in a caring and professional manner when I had a wobble on going forward after I made my deposit. They guaranteed that if I decided to cancel I would get my deposit back. Once I decided not to look back, the measuring guy came. He quickly confirmed the plans took the measurements and left. they were ready to install right on time, actually earlier than anticipated. There seemed to have been a bit of a communication gap between the two installers and whoever they take their instruction from because once they began their work I reminded them of my desire not to lose access to a phone jack and that I didn’t want to see cable wires. they panicked and told me it couldn’t be done and that I would have to go to the hardware store and buy extension cords. Really? I asked them to call their boss and figure it out. they did and were given the instructions on what to do. The only other tiny little miss that in thinking about it now I think someone should have caught is when the doors are opened they potentially can slam against the wall and make a mark. I live alone so no danger of that. Its a small thing and not preventing their 5 star review. I would hire BH&W again. Oh — and the installers did my a favor by putting together a room divider for me to keep my dogs away from my beautiful built in cabinet !

My husband & I had a great experience with Bay Home & Window. Everyone who contacted us was courteous and pleasant to deal with. We were informed of every step of the process from initial contact to installation. The blinds we purchased were a perfect match and good quality. I would recommend Bay Home & Window to everyone!

This has been the most frustrating home improvement purchase of many done thru costco. We called the costco blinds hotline in march and it took 3 – 4 weeks but then finally get an appointment and met Patty over 2 months ago and gave her the order on same day for blinds for our entire new condo. She took all the dimensions in april and said we will have blinds ready for install in 4 – 6 weeks. Seems like a long time when others say they can do in 1 – 3 weeks.
Another 3 weeks go by and we hear nothing and so we call the blinds company. Cant reach anyone at the company only messages. After many more tries to eeach them they finally they need to confirm the dimensions and need to come out again and blame us for not calling earlier! Anyway once they take it they say maybe 6 more weeks but they are not sure of any delivery dates. So we call again in 2 weeks and finally reach a person who says he is filling in does not know how to get delivery dates and will find out and he promises will call back in few days. No call back week later so we call again and they say order placed and should get blinds installed first week of june. Now its june 8^th and no word on blinds but the credit card has been charged weeks ago over $ 4500 and still have not received any of the cash cards or discounts they promised from costco and not heard when we get blinds for 20+ blinds. I dont see why this company has the costco account for blinds and we wish we had order from a local blinds company as i hear all their blinds are ordered from China and hence they have no track of delivery dates etc! Also i read their installers may not be good and could make many mistakes so i wonder how this will end…

Met with multiple vendors for window treatments and we finally got educated to what was out there as far as shutters go. The educational alone was a selling point not to mention the quality that was offered through Bay home and window that the other vendors did not even offer. The price was extremely reasonable as well. We love the way the shutters look in our living room. We will be reaching out for additional window treatment soon.

We went through Costco to get our window treatments, and Maria was our designer. She really took her time to explain all the different options to us, gave great advice on which types of shades let light through and how much, etc. She was really conscientious in writing up the order, and let us know we would get phone calls throughout the process to keep us up to date. A few weeks later we got a call to let us know that a specific type of hardware for extra-​wide windows was actually not needed in our case, and that they would be issuing a refund of roughly $ 400 for this. Costco called me a week later to say I could come in for the refund and it was totally straight forward.
Once the treatments had arrived from the factory, they sent us their most experienced installer, given the tricky nature of our curved windows. He was ridiculously fast and efficient, and a really nice guy, too!
The treatments look absolutely wonderful; we got exactly what they promised. And a company that is really honest and refunds you money (they could have just kept mum about it if they were shady) when you paid for something that is not needed at the end, well, then they have my business. An absolute pleasure to work with!

Bay Home and Window
I ordered Graber shades from Bay Home and Window which partners with Costco. A designer came out and showed us many options. Although they were not the cheapest shades, I was happy with the quality and appearance when they were installed. I had a couple of minor issues and when I notified them, I got a call from Jeff Falcon, the company president. He promptly addressed my concerns and I was satisfied with the resolution. I feel they take customer satisfaction very seriously and can be trusted to follow through on their word.

We initially met a representative from BH&W at the Danville street fair. We made an appointment on the spot and have not regretted it since. We had a representative come to our house twice to conceptualize our window treatments. She was timely, lovely, informative and educational. The next step was for a different representative to come to the house and measure our windows. The appointment was set and he came on time. When our shutters arrived an appointment was scheduled, kept and the technician was GREAT! He was early (but called first), was quick to work, and the final product of all 5 of our window treatments looks perfect! We loved our experience with BH&W! We highly recommend them.

I got introduced to Bay Home & Window at a local Costco. Since they partner, I was expecting good quality and customer service. And honestly, I wasn’t disappointed with my order. I had a sales architect Maria come over and show us the designs and mentioned highly about the customer service and quality that the firm offers. We had existing blinds that were only good for privacy — wouldn’t keep light out at all. I was expecting the new blackout shades to do a reasonable job but was expecting to install curtains to keep it dark. But I was surprised by how great the product is. The blackout do justice to the term and now I am glad that I won’t have to spend money installing curtains. Not only do they do a good job keeping the light out — they possess great aesthetics and elegance. I had a great experience working with the designer, account manager and the installers — all of them being considerate, professional and skilled.
Would definitely recommend Bay Home & Window to my friends and family.

I got some blackout shades, wood blinds, and sun shades from Bay Home & Window through Costco. As I purchased them on separate occasions, I had several different consultants and installers. The appointments were fast, and everyone I interacted with was prompt, professional, and helpful. The only downside with the company is that they have many projects going on at the same time, so from the point of contacting them to schedule the consultation appointment to the point of actual installation is pretty long — about 2 months or more (I don’t know how it compares to other companies). So if you are in a bit of a hurry to have some window coverings installed, I’m not sure this is the best company. The coverings look great, and they have great customer service, though.

Whoa. This last one month has been night and day compared to my first experience a year ago. A very special thank you to Jeff, Fred, and Neil for taking such great care of us. Jeff takes customer service to a whole new level and it was really quite amazing how much has changed over the course of a year.
I apologize in advance for the long-​winded review, but I think it’s very necessary. Let me break it down (including further detail for my previous post). About a year ago, my fiancée and I moved into a new place and purchased blinds through Costco (Graber & Bay Home all worked together on the agreement).
Unfortunately…:
— the whole process took forever (3 – 4 months) — blinds in the master bedroom were sized incorrectly so they had to be resized and reordered which added 2 – 3 more weeks
— no lockdown bracket was installed for the living room door so install guys had to come out again, tacking on another 2 – 3 weeks
— one set of install guys, who I’ve learned are no longer with Bay Home & Window, smelled like alcohol and cigarettes and were very rude during a face to face appointment
— A crew was sent out yet again because the tilt wand was hitting the top frame and would not initiate the tilt because it was poorly installed — there’s one more week for ya
It was issue after issue and I was extremely frustrated with the customer service. After the blinds were fully installed to satisfaction, my fiancée convinced me not to formalize and escalate my complaint as it probably would have been pointless to complain after the fact. That was probably OUR mistake now that I understand if I did mention the missteps to Jeff & management initially, they would have actioned immediately (as they did following my Unilocal complaint).
More recently, we had a new issue. The tilt wands were not working properly again and it stirred up emotions of the early install days so I decided to post the short Unilocal review above. Boy did that set off alarms. Within an hour of my post, I had president of Bay Home & Window, Jeff Falcon (almost sounds like a superhero), sending emails asking for more detail on the issue, profusely apologizing, and vowing to remedy the situation. Within a week, he had come up with a resolution to replace the wands, and if the replacement didn’t work he offered to re-​do the whole install free of charge (despite it being one year later). He was professional, quick, and very accommodating.
He sent over Fred and Neil, who were punctual, efficient, and polite. They replaced the wands with drawstring tilts and those work flawlessly. Jeff reiterated if we had reached out last year, they would have fixed the issues immediately, which I don’t doubt at all. He added if there were any further problems, to never hesitate to reach out for support and he will have his team take care of us.
Everything is perfect and my fiancée and I are very pleased with how Jeff and team handled the previous missteps. It also seems we were one of the first customers for this 3-​way program, and they were still working out the kinks so you can consider our experience a «one-​off». Jeff and crew seem to have ironed out their small issues from last year and are now a very well-​oiled machine. Very well done and I will highly recommend anytime. Best customer service I have ever experienced. Thank you Jeff and the whole Bay Home & Window team!

First of all, thank you Jeff Falcon for reaching out after seeing my review. Most companies would probably let it be, but for Jeff to reach out right away and assured me that he will find a few options to address my concern means a lot to us and it tells a lot about a company that really cares and definitely a company that wont be happy until the customers are happy.
In my previous review, I was concerned about the big gap on the sliding door in our bedroom and how the early morning sun will disturb our sleep. Jeff did an extensive research and went out of his way to contact the manufacture about our concern. He kept us posted on his progress. He then sent Bryan out to fix the problem… in less than 2 hours, everything was complete to our sastisfaction. Bryan rebuilt the whole mechanism and tarah… done and PERFECT. No new parts were needed.
WE ARE EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE END RESULT FOR OUR ENTIRE WINDOW COVERINGS. WE ARE GLAD WE WENT WITH THIS COMPANY.
The feeling I Am having right now is ECSTATIC.

I have gradually had Plantation Shutters installed throughout my home in the last 5+ years. Bay Home & Window has done all the installations and I have a few more bedrooms to do and I will have Bay Home & Window install those as well.
I have always been impressed with the company as a whole. From the initial phone call, the consultant, the measurement, the product and finally the installation. Everyone is always very nice, professional and informative. I have had a couple of issues with the shutters but someone would contact me immediately and the problem taken care of in a timely manner.
I would highly recommend Bay Home & Window!

I’m waffling between 3 and 4 stars because I really like the employees, but that alone shouldn’t be what a review is based on. In a nutshell, after almost 3.5 months, I am finally satisfied with the end outcome of my 4 shades and 1 shutter, but would I hire Bay Home & Window again? Probably not.
Here’s the breakdown:
1) Sales consultants — 5 stars
2) Product — 1 star for shades, 5 stars for shutters
3) Installation — 3 stars
4) Customer service — 3 stars
5) Price — 3 stars
Hands down, my sales consultants were awesome. Didn’t pressure me and they provided helpful advice in making my choices.
The first set of 4 room-​darkening Graber shades were a disaster. They didn’t stay up. Instead they drooped down and covered almost 75% of my window. Only 6 inches of light at the bottom came through in all 4 bedrooms. I felt like a mole woman for nearly two months until my replacements came. Apparently it was a problem with the supplier of Graber’s pulley system. Someone should’ve checked this at the factory. Oh and 1 of the shades got stuck midway in its position and wouldn’t pull down.
I ordered 1 non-​wood shutter for my living room. It’s beautiful. I love it and I wish I had shutters in all my windows. It was very expensive though — almost the same cost as the other 4 shades combined.
Installation of my first shades went poorly too. The first shade installer dented my shades with his hands and left little creases near the plastic handles. They also stuck out from the top of the window about ¼″ like a little tiny dust ledge. When the replacement installer came, the installation went great. There are some dents in my largest bedroom shade (not caused by him), but I am hoping that the fabric will rebound and they will go away with time. I know if I told Bay Home & Window about the dents that they would do right by me if they don’t go away on their own, but I don’t want to deal with it anymore. The replacement installer also got rid of the dust ledge and installed them more flush with the window frame. Oh, and the good news is they stay up! Just in time for winter!
Installation of my shutter went just fine. There were a few scuffs on them where they’re less shiny now, but I’m choosing to ignore it because (again) I don’t want to deal with these window coverings any more.
Customer service was just A-​OK, which surprised me because they talked a good game but when I look back, the actions didn’t match their words. My project manager responded quickly, and they got 2 other people on the email thread to validate my concerns. They apologized profusely that my expectations weren’t met. They assured me they would fix the problem — and they did — but not in an expedited fashion like they promised. The project manager also checked in via email to give me a manufacturing status of my shade replacements, which I appreciated even though the news was disappointing. Also, they scheduled an appointment to come and diagnose my sagging shades and no one showed up. When I called them, they said someone had called to cancel, but I had no voicemail and I don’t have ESP. So that was a waste of my time. So, 3 stars.
Price — With the Costco cash card rebate and American Express rebates, I’d say the price was a little too high for my bad experience and the poor first round of shades.

I connected with Bay Home and Window through Costco. I was pleased with the whole process. The consultant that helped me was on time, knowledgeable and patient! The office kept me up to date on the progress of the work, the installer, Fred and Neil were on time, polite and did a great job. The price was in line with other quotes I got. The product works well and looks great.
Do not hesitate — just call these guys.

I went through Costco. Michal came out to do initial measurements and give us an estimate. She was patient with our questions and talked us through our options without rushing. We put plantation shutters in 3 areas in the house plus solar shades in another area. What I appreciated most was that we weren’t pushed into trying to get shutters for the whole house. Michal Ott gave us the quote we wanted for the areas we specified. She did not pressure us into doing the whole house. I hate sales pressure. Had she done that, I’ve would’ve passed. As it were, I decided to make the purchase that day and take advantage of the designer discount. I think it’s like 5%.
A few weeks later, someone else came to take exact measurements of everything. He was so cordial and nice. Oh how I wish I remembered his name. But I guess there are two of them that do the measurements. My guy was awesome!
Then we waited the 12 weeks until the custom window treatments could be made. The installation happened on June 2. Fred and another guy came out for the solar shades and Jessie came out for the plantation shutters. They were super efficient, answered all my questions, and really did a professional job.
I love the solar shades for the open foyer and the plantation shutters are just gorgeous. I still wake up staring at them! We hope to order more plantation shutters from BH&W in the near future!

I used Bay Home & Window via Costco.
Sue was the consultant that came to my house, she was on time and was VERY sweet. She didn’t rush me and spent over an hour explaining the entire process to me. I really appreciated that as this was my first foray in the window treatment realm. I also really liked the fact that she didn’t «judge» me when I was trying to decide what my budget was. She gave me quotes for 3 different brands/​items. My only ding is that she pressed me to make a decision quickly so she could give me an additional 5% off. I had already had 1 quote before hand which she beat — but I didn’t really like that pressure. I did push back and asked her to at least give me 2 days to think things through and she did. After some thought, I did end up buying the more expensive window treatments and she did honor the additional 5% off even though I didn’t decide at that moment. Sue came all the way back to my house to have me fill out the paperwork. I liked that she always came to me and that I didn’t have to chase anyone around — especially since it always seems like it’s the other way around!
4 – 5 weeks later the installer came (Barry). He was super quick and efficient. He even took down all my old blinds and threw them out in the garbage for me.
I would definitely consider using Bay Home & Window again for any future needs.

(…I’ve taken down my feedback temporarily due to the call from Jeff, the owner, and keeping this at a 3-​star just because I, for the first time, felt like someone cared genuinely about my satisfaction on products and services I paid Bay Home and Window for.

In search of plantation shutters for our new home, we actually visited Bay Windows «showroom» in Pleasanton. Not realizing the business was based on at home consultations, we were nevertheless helped out by none other than CEO Jeff. Most higher ups would not give two seconds to their customers, but Jeff got his hands dirty and gave us a rundown of their company. How cool is that?
Anyway, we were set up for a consult by Kristen. She visited us at home and educated us and the small things we didn’t realize about plantation shutters. She was very good at what she did, and you could tell she was highly trained and experienced in her trade. Obviously, we didn’t realize how pricey these things can be, but I guess you pay for the quality.
At the end of the day, we decided to save up to do the entire house in shutters sometime in the near future. And when that day comes, our first call will be to Bay Windows.
