H&R Block

I was recommended by a friend to see leslie went there to talk to her. With out even seeing my documents she said it’s 300 the minimum that I need to pay and if not I can go do it with people who can do for free. Seriously… how rude! If it’s the sweat pants that I was wearing sorry I didn’t impress you… but the is just beyond me how people who work for customers can be this rude… I wouldn’t do it for free in that office.

Betty Cheng was the worst tax advisor ever. I had to ask if she worked for the IRS! She was insisting that I bring in my receipts for $ 2000 in charitable donations. No help whatsoever I had to file an extension.
I had employee expenses not reimbursed and she wanted to see every receipt

I resonate with all the 1 star reviews as my experience was no different when wife and I went to file taxes as married filing jointly. The lady initially gave us false hopes of the estimates by saying it would be «guaranteed below 300» and after we corrected two of her typos (thankfully we were paying close attention), we ended up paying 430+ … I was furious as it seemed she got paid for the getting tax filing lessons from us! Not going back and won’t recommend HR Block to anyone. TOTAL RIPOFF!

In 2012 my wife was going through the immigration process, and she needed an ITIN number because she does not have a social security number yet. After explaining my situation with the person at HR Block the lady filed me as single instead of married and filed my taxes without an ITIN number for my wife. Me being clueless haveing no idea what had happened until, I got a lot of nasty letters from the IRS stating that I owed money. Alright after fixing the problem that HR Block had made, and after I filed for an ITIN number you would think everything would be peachy wrong!!! Come to find out that HR Block only filed for federal and did not file for state. At this point I’m seriously upset, I’ve spent countless hours waiting on the phone as well as spending countless number of hours in the IRS office fixing the problems the HR Block made. There is no way I’d ever send a friend or a family member to a place like this. I also forgot to mention I went to three different HR Blocks to resolve my problem but that was a no go. When I was going through all the problems that I experienced with the IRS I could not get a hold of a HR Block representative; all I got was an automated phone message, all because you can’t talk to a real person anymore.

$ 433 because we had two states: the process was super slow and painful. Our tax preparer seemed to barely know how to use a computer and his grasp of English was shaky at best. Difficult when dealing with legal things. He told us twice to call the companies that sent us W2– is that not your job? Ridiculous. Not ever coming here and not using H&R Block again.

Yep! They charged $ 800 to do what I had already done. They didn’t fulfill the «review» of any previous years, and were ONLY interested in getting paid. (The manager’s eyes practically lit up when he saw how much they were going to charge.)
Stay as far away from them as you can.

They charged $ 500 and spent an entire week just to do my poor 74 year old father’s taxes. And the estimate they initially gave was around $ 100-​$ 150. They never said it was going to cost so much more in the end. I’ve never seen a worse rip off in my life. How can you charge a retired person $ 500? Granted he had a home sale to deal with but other than that his income is fixed from a pension. How hard can it be? The best CPAs charge that much. The people at HR Block are not CPAs. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I found a good CPA that only charges $ 150 in the area. You shouldn’t be paying anymore than $ 150 at H&R block for people that aren’t even CPAs. I’m surprised they haven’t fired Betty Cheng by now.

I think I may have had Betty too… whoever it was she was entirely incompetent! We got charged over $ 300 to do a very simple tax return in less than 15 minutes. She gave us false advice on the rules around withholdings and when we got our taxes reviewed by a real CPA, we found out she had caused us to overpay by over $ 1000 because she hadn’t entered in the information about the taxes we paid last year… even turbo tax would have done that! What a horrible experience this was. This place makes me mad because I feel like they try to prey on the people who don’t know any better. I should have known better and they still took advantage because I trusted they knew how to do a simple standard return… don’t trust them for anything! I found a great accountant in Dublin and he doesn’t charge any more than they do! (You may refer to my profile to get his name and address if interested). Whatever you do, DON’T GO HERE! WHAT A SCAM!!!
