Heroes & Villains Comics

Let’s just start with this: it’s small and it’s on Main St. so I am sure the real estate goes for a premium. So, it’s hard for the shop to keep too many comics in stock.
On the other hand, the owner tries to keep a good balance or main stream, independent, and other publishing types.
The great thing about this place is that the owner will work with you and help you find what you are looking for, or do personal orders. He goes out of his way to get you what you want, if possible. Unfortunately, he can’t compete with the big guns (of which there are very few).
He also can’t compete with online pricing, of course, but I am very happy to have a convenient shop located in Pleasanton, with friendly and knowledgeable owners.
The graphic novel section is wanting and it does stay pretty stagnant. I read mostly GN’s so I don’t visit this place as much.

Pros: For such a small shop, there is a lot of goodness packed inside of it! If you are into comic books, they have boxes and boxes of them to look through. They have a table full of $ 1 comic books which is always fun to flip through. What really caught my eye were the old (and valuable) comic books that are on display on the top shelf around the store. There is quite a range of prices but I feel like you can own a little piece of history (e.g., comics that used to go for 5 cents or 12 cents) that is within your budget. They also have a box of variant cover comics which I have never seen as a category.
Con: The worker there didn’t say hi or acknowledge anyone. I mean, I get you don’t want to be there on a Sunday afternoon but it wouldn’t kill you to look up and say hi.
Overall: With the wealth of potential comic book finds, it is definitely worth driving out there to check it out! I will be back :)

I make it priority to come here on every Wednesday for New Comic Book Day. The staff are always congenial and will help you find anything you need and answer any questions you have! They will even go to the extent of calling other shops in the area to get you that one issue you want. Also, they even have given they’re own comic books you requested in the event it is sold out, and wait for their next order to get their own.
I cannot praise this store enough. If you live in the Pleasanton/​Dublin area, you have to come on by to check out this store.

A great comic book store on main street! It looks small, but they have managed to cram neatly a lot of merchandise in that store. Their silver age and below comic sections are somewhat small, being also taking up with cracked, Mad, Classics illustrated, but big enough to supply my wants. They have all sorts of comics in different price ranges and conditions for everyone. This is a great comic book store, and the friendly service makes me want to go back again and again.

I stopped by the store to get a gift for an 8 year old boy. Your staff rocks (not to mention having incredible patience)! He asked about the type of present I was interested in, interests of the boy, my price range, etc., and he put up with all my crazy questions. I was also impressed with his concern that the content of the material be age appropriate, and checking whether the books contained language, violence, adult situations, etc. I walked away with a couple great books for the little guy and a couple books for his dad, who can pass them along to the little guy later. Thanks so much for such a great store!

Very friendly staff that has a depth of information on all things comic book related. Their saver service is easy to sign up for and great to know that you won’t miss out on any books you read on a regular basis.

While Initially this shop was a little crowded and unorganized in the beginning days, it has really come together! While comics are the one area of my nerd life I am lacking in they are always helpful when getting gifts for my friends or even helping me break into comics. Its nice to have a store on main street that a guy can actually shop at rather than all of the clothing stores. Furthermore every time I go in there I am greeted in a friendly and non hostile manor which really makes me love this place…

H&V comics is top notch! great prices and selection, and always the latest books easy to find. The owners Kat & Jim are not only super knowledgeable but amazingly friendly. Always a great place to shop for geekiness, highly recommend.

This comic shop is nothing short of AMAZING! They have comics I can’t find anywhere else, and customer service that blows the competition away. I live in Modesto, and yet, all my comic transactions are done here… they know my preferences, keep me up to date on new releases via email, and save my comics and mail them to me. Where else can you find that kind of service and attention to detail!!!

What an adorable little comic book shop! It’s really worth the drive from Cupertino to see not only friendly faces but also get amazing customer service which is extremely rare these days. I know if there is an item I am looking for I can call them and have them hold it for me, ship it to me or order what I need. Jim and Catherine really are the greatest! If you are ever in Pleasanton drop on in and check it out! You will surely find something you love or a gift to get someone. This is the easiest way I get my kids reading! Love comics!!!

Many of my friends know that I’m a huge Star Trek Fan. It started when I was growing up in NW Iowa when I regularly watched Captain James T. Kirk bag some Alien Babe or witness another Red Shirt bite the dust. I’ve since watched all the subsequent series (DS9 being my favourite) and movies (most notably First Contact and the 1^st Reboot movie staring Chris Pine). I also know lots of worthless trivia such as the knowledge that Gak is best when served live.
However, even I won’t cross certain lines, such as attending a Star Trek Convention or dressing up as a Klingon for a weekend on a mock Bird of Prey. All this came to mind today as my Son dragged me (under protest) to East Bay Comic Con at the Concord Hilton. It only cost $ 5 to get in and watching my fellow attendees was probably worth twice the price of admission. OK maybe that and the fact that the actor that played Jaws in Moonraker was there too. There were many folks dressed in «interesting» attire that also brought to mind William Shatner’s iconic Saturday Night Live performance where he advised similar convention attendees to «Get a Life».
Yet, for my now 18 year-​old Son, this is part of his life right now, and as his Dad I need to support that to some degree. In particular, the Kid loves Magic the Gathering and it was at the Heroes & Villains booth the he found the deck pack he was seeking. The folks attending the booth were friendly and normal looking, and I appreciated the convenience to pay via Square and making my Son happy. That’s certainly one way to «Live Long and Prosper».

Jimmy is the BEST! I have been to all the comic book shops in the Tri-​Valley, as well as Castro Valley and San Leandro. The peeps in San Leandro are friendly and responsive, but Heroes & Villians just puts the comic book shopping experience over-​the-​top! The owner, Jimmy, and his staff love to talk comics — but, mostly they’re good listeners, and that’s what matters the most!
I enjoy their subscription feature because I can’t always get to the comic book store on Wednesdays. Great variety, and lots of fun!

This is a fantastic little shop. This place is going to be my main comic book shop. They have a great organized and well maintained selection of past issues and stay up to date on all the new releases. The service is amazing! These guys are really friendly the moment you walk in the door. Jim at the shop has taken down lots of info for me to keep an eye out for what I am looking for and doing some special orders for me. Their grading is fairly accurate, and I feel like I am paying the right amount for past issues that I am trying to add to my collections. All in all I love this place. If you want to be treated right, find what you want, and get a fair price for it this is the place to go.

Great people there, lots a cool rare comics. Good selection and good vibe. They’re CGC affiliated so you can pick up forms here to submit the stuff you want to get slabbed.

Jim and Catehrine are awesome! Every time I come here I am greeted with a smile by a very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Their saver service is awesome and whenver I have a request they email me back indicating that they have what I need on hold waiting for me. The store may not be the biggest, but to be honest, the experience I continue to have here is what got me to start reading comic books /​graphic novels on a regular basis again. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good shop and customer service experience.

I really love this store. Every one that works there are really great and helpful. Its a very clean store. I love how its organized. Its not the biggest shop but, it does have a great selection of things to choose from. Im sad to be moving because I wont be able to just go to Heroes and Villains whenever now. They are m favorite comic shop. :D

What a pleasant find. We were in the area and any place I’m unfamiliar with I Unilocal to see where the nearest comic store is. It’s not a huge spot but their selection is perfect for any comic collector. I’m a big fan of graphic novels and their selection is has a great variety. The service is beyond friendly if not informative, espcially on events around the Bay Area.
I will definetly be back. Heroes & Villains Comics is located in the Main Street area of Pleasanton — what was a quick trip to the comic shop turned into a fun half day walk around small businesses and tasty snack shops.
