Kinder’s Meats Deli BBQ

better late than never so this is a late review.
not really a meat eater so tried the clam chowder.
eats: large clam chowder (4.75)
–no crackers provided
–clearly homemade, not from box
chewy clams, firm potato not mushy
–chowder so so, not starchy but little body.
drips:
–service quick, cordial
–food so so.
–sammies seem pricey

I am going to make this as painless as possible. Like ripping off a band-​aid.
BBQ Sauce: Excellent. Best part of the meal. I like mine extra spicy and their extra spicy sauce had just the right amount of sweet heat. Much too hot for some, but luckily for others they have a spicy and mild version.
Ribs: Poor! I don’t know what they did to those poor ribs but it was like eating wood. Meat so dry I didn’t know difference between the meat and the bone.
Chicken: Poor! So dry. tasty rub, but OH SO DRY!
Ball Tip: OK. Just on the edge of totally overcooked. It was overcooked but it still had some moisture and was acceptable. It was the only good meat of the meal.
French Fries: Poor! Tasted like they had been sitting in my car for a day. Don’t ask me why I know what a day old fench fry tastes like. I just do!
Also, my fault, but ordering «enough fries for four» should not mean four to go boxes stuffed with fries. Maybe, just maybe the dude could have explained what one order of fries was like and let me go from there. Especially considering there is little information on the menu.
1 star restaurant with 5 star BBQ sauce = 2 Stars.

Cobb Chicken Salad, yummy, large portion, great service during the peak of lunch, I am a bit picky about the dryness of chicken, this wasn’t a issue at all!

Very tasty tri tip. I’ve been told to try the BBQ beef as well. Served in a hollowed out sourdough baguette.

There’s nothing to rave about. They even got my order wrong and gave me a mini instead of a full sized sandwich for an $ 11 bill. The «famous» ball-​tip steak was sub-​par, the potato salad could use some work, and the bbq beans had almost no cheese. Not sure I’d ever want to come back to this location. The price and taste is wholly unjustifiable.

Kinder’s has become one of my go-​to dinner pick-​up spots when I am on the road. The food here is very good and I think the portion sizes are very reasonable. I typically will get a twice baked potato and that is more than enough for dinner (for me) and it’s under $ 5. I have also had the Kinder’s BBQ Chicken Salad and the Kinder’s Cobb Salad. I prefer the cobb salad, but both are good. They are large portions, so I usually don’t finish one salad in one meal. I have also had the 1 way combo with pulled pork, beans, roll, and choice of two sides! It’s a ton of food for a decent price. It’s not the best BBQ I’ve ever had, but it hits the spot whenever I am on the road.
Service is usually very quick and the guys working there have always been very nice.

Love this place. Their meat is always amazing and their customer service is awesome too. I just left here and they’re in the middle of their lunch rush. Had at least 3 people ask if I’d been helped yet and when their register was busy, someone came out from behind the counter to take my order and then brought it out to me. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

First and last time at Kinders, first off the counter employee was very rude, almost like he didn’t want to be there and very overpriced. The place was empty and I can see why.

Must get BBQ… mmmm so good. This place is just what you expect from a good BBQ Deli, you have a meat counter with great looking slabs of flesh and sausages, along with Potato and Pasta salads. Simple yet perfection, keep it up guys you are doing something right! Get anything on the menu and it is good, Burger, good. Ball tip sandwich, good. Pulled pork sandwich, good. BBQ Beef, good. Baked Beans, good. Fries, good.
My only complaint is that my stomach will not hold any more.

False Advertisement and they don’t even care, I called and ordered based on the menu online. When I got down there, my $ 12 meal was almost $ 19 and when I brought it up to the manager he told me that the prices online are wrong and they have been that way for a long time. I told him that is not right and they should honor the price they advertise, he said «at least you know now for next time.» Unfortunate for them there will not be a next time!
Besides the horrible service and false advertisement the food was also horrid. The roll was more moist than all of the meat put together. I am extremely disappointed in the entire experience, I would recommend going to Dickeys over this place, at least there you get decent service and accurate pricing.

I love this place, but my recent visit was just off this time.
I ordered the classic Bal Tip sandwich. It was served up quickly and brought to the table with a smile. The problem was that the tables were cleared but most had barbeque sauce that needed to be wiped off. Other Kinder’s have squirt bottles of their different sauces. This one had two large pump containers with the same sauce in both. No spicy available.
My kingdom for a napkin, paper towel, or anything at all to wipe our hands on. Nothing to be found. Hard to believe a barbeque place has nothing to wipe your hands on. We finally went to the restroom to get paper towels from the dispenser.
No manager to be found.
I still love this place but not the same great experience that you have in Danville or Walnut Creek.

I had their pulled pork sandwich today —-yummy! Tender shredded pork glazed with their famous mild barbecue sauce (with a hint of honey and brown sugar) on a dutch crunch roll. It was the best pulled pork sandwich i have ever eaten! Kinder’s is a family owned restaurant that is famous for its barbecue sauces. I also had their sweet potato fries as a side. I found that the mild barbecue sauce makes for a perfect dipping sauce for fries. I hope to come back again!

I Love BBQ & Kinders knows their stuff.
I had the Tri tip sandwich, it was good, but a little tough. Great flavor though.
The sides were also yum & servings were a large portion, in my opinion.
I couldn’t finish the entire thing so I took it to go. Unfortunately, my friends English Bull Mastiff hunted down & helped himself to my leftovers.
Whoever said a doggie bag wasn’t actually meant for dogs?

I thought of an alternate name for him that rhymed with his on this PARTICULAR night.
All in all, I just hope I learned from this; Never take your eyes off the leftovers when a bull mastiff & Tri tip from Kinders is concerned, or at least next time be around to put up a fight.

This is making even ME, anything but Hungry *[.;0P Stupidest review –ever.

This is for the full slab of ribs I bought to take home. They were dry and hard to eat. The BBQ sauce was delicious but those came in little containers and were free. The $ 24 for the slab was way more than I should have spent for dried out ribs. Other food looked good in the case but not happy with my first order here.

Are you hungry? You should be. Kinder’s Meats should not be visited unless you crave meat. Tasty, yummy, honest to goodness drippy messy, wear a bib over your clothing pieces of heaven. I have never ordered anything off this menu that I did not enjoy completely. The only issue being my baby sized hands and my women sized stomach. I can’t seem to polish off a meal. Including when I order hotlinks, which I think is the smallest thing you could order besides a side order of potato salad (which I highly reccomend.)
I’ve walked, drove, and carpooled to this location and have never been disappointed. I absolutely love eating here. Even on a packed day, I can still get in and out in less than 35 mins including devouring my food.
Vegetarians need not apply.

Ball tip sandwich recommended by fellow Unilocalers is the bomb! The bread is soft and melts in your mouth. The lettuce is crispy and perfect. The meat is stacked, delicious and much like the bread, almost melt in your mouth. A side of the cucumber salad was the perfect side.
I sat outside in the warm 65 degrees Pleasanton sun this terrific Jan afternoon and slipped into Nirvana for a brief mid-​afternoon lunch. Yes, il be back when I’m back in town!

Ball tip sandwich… YUM! Kinder’s is a place I do not go to often because I would gain a million pounds but I LOVE the ball tip sandwich! The meat is so tender and the bread is soft soft that I am in sandwich heaven! Add a nice cucumber salad, beans, potato salad, twice baked potato… The choices are endless!
My favorite side though is the giant pickle. I like to pack it up to go and enjoy it for a 3pm snack.
The customer service is awesome and I am always impressed at how they remember each person’s order during the hectic lunch time and bring out the food to each table without a numbering or other type of identifying system.
Sometimes when I have had a busy day I call in my order and it is ready in no time. Make sure you grab some BBQ sauce to go. I do not find their hot BBQ sauce to be that particularly spicy but it has a better flavor than the mild.
You can call your order in ahead of time and quickly pick up your lunch! You can also by marinated trip-​tip to bring home and grill for dinner

5 stars, purely because this place is my guilt pleasure. I love Kinders, it’s probably my favorite chain BBQ place. I particularly love the Kinders Burger and the fry sauce that comes with the fries (seasoned fries are the best).
The service is overall pretty good! They bring the food to you after you order. I always tip because I haven’t had bad service from any of the employees there so far. Can’t wait to come back for the fry sauce…

Last time I went to Kinder’s I think I got the ball tip. It was my one and only time I had gone and the location we went to was in Walnut Creek. I wasn’t too wowed by it at the time so I never bothered trying it again.
Well yesterday, I had a meeting in Pleasanton and my coworker and I wanted to grab lunch before heading back into the office. Well right across the street there was a Kinder’s and well my coworker didn’t have any oppositions to that thought! So we came in at around 11:30am. Only a couple folks were there. I hemmed and hawed a bit toying with the thought of getting the pulled pork daily special, ball tip or trying the rib eye steak. I asked the staff behind the desk and he suggested the rib eye as it was his favorite. So rib eye it was. Medium rare of course.
I sat down and in no time my sandwich was ready on a sourdough roll. It was cooked to perfection and hit the spot. It was juicy, meaty… everything you want in your mouth if you know what I mean!
Soon after the place was packed! Long line and every table occupied. Glad we got in early before the rush so that that indecisive me could take my time to choose something from the menu.
I would definitely go back again for the rib eye if I ever had a craving. Also at ~ $ 11, you get pretty much two meals! It’s such a big sandwich! I hope all Kinder’s locations have really great, nice staff members! Because the fellow that helped me was the best!

Definitely recommending their famous Ball Tip Sandwich! The sandwich includes your typical lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, but the highlight is definitely the meat and marinade sauce. The meat is super tender, thinly sliced, and juicy. Wow it’s so good, it practically melts in your mouth!
Also ordered catering. Order at least a day in advance so they can marinate the meat and cook everything in time. Went with the 2 meats & 2 sides option ($ 13.95 per person). I was worried we wouldn’t have enough food for everyone, but this place gives A LOT.
MEATS
+ Chicken Quarters — huge pieces of chicken, but dry and hardly any taste. The skin looks charred.
+ St. Louis Style Pork Ribs — not much meat on each bone, and the meat could’ve been more juicy and tender.
SIDES
+ Caesar Salad — your typical salad, didn’t try it TBH.
+ Potato Salad — very creamy and potato slices are perfect in size.
Also includes: dinner rolls (soft, large in size, and moist) plus beans (your typical beans)
After trying both, I would really recommend the sandwich over catering.
