We have been in business for over 7 years, first under the name All Tune and Lube then R&C’s Auto Repair. The name was changed again to R&C Auto Service after ownership change and shop renovation

I love anything with wheels! A life long car enthusiast I was always tinkering with my own and friends’ cars for fun. After getting my engineering degree I ended up working for a company in Pleasanton. That’s when I came across R&C Auto Service which back then was called All Tune and Lube. I brought my car in for some work that I could not do on my own and was very impressed with their service. The staff was friendly and honest so I ended becoming a loyal customer. Fast forward a few years, the 2009 recession hit and the owner decided to sell the shop. Always wanted to get into the car business I ended up buying it. Five years and a lot of hard work later we are still here and things are better than ever. Everyone at R&C Auto Service operates with one goal in mind: to treat customers the way we want to be treated. No hard sell, no scare tactics. Just do honest work and charge a reasonable rate for it.

Very honest and helpful people! I had my car towed away at their garage, they manage everything from their and even filled the claim with the insurance even if I actually never met them in person. I was able to get my car back super quickly in perfect shape! All the team was nice, the price was totally fair. I would strongly recommend their services if you are in the area!

I removed my previous comment after the owner Karl called me to discuss and promised to give me a free oil change coupon (which I never got). But then I saw his reply to Bosheng’s comment, which really did not sit well with me, so I am posting this again. I had my front brake pads replaced there last year but only a month later I had to replace my rear brake pads in another garage. I asked the technician to check why the squeaking noise when I backed up, the technician made it go away (temporarily) but did not see any problem. Karl’s comments on the phone was sometimes customers need to save money. Also I had tire leaks which they did not find out what the problem was, which is a simple tire leak, I had it repaired some other place for $ 10. Karl said they do not do tires. Well it’s very simple to find out what the problem is and if you don’t do it why promise to check it?

My experience with this place was so bad. My car had the «check engine» light on, and I made an appointment with this top-​review shop. I came, and then received a quote of $ 110 for DIAGNOSING only. I said it’s more expensive than I thought. The front desk lady said neighbor shops would cost more, like $ 160. I called one neighbor store, and got a quote of $ 68. I called another place, and they offered me to check with a car scanner FOR FREE. So I went, and was told about the what the scanner said the problem and the advice.
Well, based on such experience, I cannot offer a high review, just for the dishonest part.

The sage of this one mistake we made taking the car to R&C will probably never end. Owner calls after Unilocal review and claims all service was done; it was just not documented. Of course. car shops are well known for doing MORE than what they take credit for. What was I thinking! Anyway, after debating the pros and cons of wasting time with a shady car shop, decided to move on and paid the bill.
A week later, wife starts to complain that the car is not working well. Feels sluggish and engine noise is pronounced when climbing hills. Long story short, we went back to the dealer and a thousand dollars later, car is fine now. Is this R&C’s fault? Who knows. Reality is that you want to find someone you can trust so that you can avoid the dealer. Unfortunately for us R&C is not it. For those who are giving this place a 5* review; good luck rolling the dice.

I have taken in two BMWs for service within a month. Although car repairs are a headache, at least both of mine were, one a potential nightmare, the owner Carl made every effort to see my safety and satisfaction were priority. For that I will continue to come back.

Wow, has it been almost 5 years since we first started coming to R&C Auto? Time flies! And why change right? Their service is just terrific. This time they realy saved us. My husband and I are looking to get a new used car, found one on Craigslist that looked good, about to buy it but decided to have the guys at R&C check it out, best decision ever! Turned out the the car needed all kinds of work. What looks like a nice car isn’t always the case under the hood. The inspection saved us thousands in potential repair and they were able to squeeze us in on a very busy day. Thank you R&C!

Fantastic people and great work! I had previously taken my car 2 – 3 times to the manufacturer to get it fixed. I kept telling them there was a something wrong internally, but they always returned the car back to me. After taking it to R&C Auto Service, they immediately found the root cause (issue with engine). I was irritated at the manufacturer because I feel that what they do compromises the safety of the driver.
R&C fixed it immediately (and even offered a loaner car while they were at it). This is a place you can really trust.

This could be the best auto service in Pleasanton. The employees are extremely nice and knowledgable. They take the time to explain everything needed and exactly what was done. They are also honest — if they say a repair is needed you can bet it is needed. They also let you know what can wait and what might be coming up so you can budget for larger repair/​maintenance.
My niece was told her car needed $ 1700 in repairs by a national chain repair place. She wasn’t sure they were being honest so she asked who I would recommend. I sent her to R&C and after checking everything out they said nothing was wrong with her car. They charged her $ 25 for the whole exam. I highly recommend them to anyone with a car. I am so happy to be done with the free service at Toyota so that I can take my RAV4 here too!

They do GREAT work for fair price. They will not try to over-​charge for unnecessary work. We’ve been going there for years. Once we thought our older truck has transmission issues because it was leaking oil and barely started, but they diagnosed it that when we got transmission fluids a week before they forgot to put cap back on. ($ 50 that could have been thousands). R&C even gave us documentation so that if transmission does fail we could hold the oil change place responsible!
In our last visit they replaced brake pads and rotors on mini-​van (expensive but necessary) and did the brake lights for free labor! Previously when we got tire changed, the tire place noticed our brake lights were out and said they would replace for $ 50 each. (FYI we paid more for 4 tires than we did for front and rear brakes and rotors!)
Good mechanics are difficult to find and I am only sad that this review might decrease their availability for me.

(A quick back story) I had made an appointment to get my breaks and rotors replaced (as recommended by a different shop) at a place in Pleasanton. I stormed over on my 30 minute lunch break to only find out that they had told me no one in town at the shop to do the work (But yet someone had scheduled me an appointment for that day?)
In a fury, I called around and my searches landed me here– thank you other Unilocalers!
I made an appointment with a man named Carl, who was so, so kind and priced me out over the phone.
I took my car in early this morning, and was left with nothing short of an amazing experience!
The man who helped me in the beginning was named Jordan. He was so helpful and walked me through the work they were going to be doing, and all of the pricing as well. Usually as a woman, shops will undermine you and throw in hidden costs, because of course, I don’t know anything about cars, so I wouldn’t know better. But here, Jordan was super up front about everything– which is more then I can say of any other shop I have EVER gone to.
The technician, Craig, offered to have me wait while he did a quick break inspection, to only find out I only needed back breaks and rotors and not both front and back.
He did the work right then and I waited only 45 minutes and it was finished!
All I can say is this, people will always have car problems and a need for automotive work, and thats why there are hundreds of car shops in every town.
BUT, to find a good shop, with personable people and to get great work done, is incredibly hard to find.
I am BEYOND pleased with the customer service from Carl, Jordan & Craig, and would absolutely be taking my car here from now on.
I have already recommended my family to come here & recommend anyone who is reading this to do the same! :)

Such a great place!
I was driving from Santa Cruz to Redding, CA in order to get to a family wedding and my wheel bearing broke as I drove by Pleasanton. I Unilocaled the nearest auto shop and this one came up – was extremely frustrated and upset when I got there and maybe shed a few tears as I didn’t know if this could be fixed right away. The owner, Steve calmed me down and said they were going to try to get me out of there and on the road as soon as possible.
They fixed my car and got me on the road in less than three hours! I cannot thank Steve and his team enough, such a fabulous shop – extremely efficient, fast, and so nice.
The next day, Steve even called to check up on the car to make sure everyone was working well. Would give them a million stars if I could, because they saved my ass! Thanks guys!

I’ve really appreciated the professionalism of R&C Auto in the 6 months that I’ve been working with them. I needed some service on my car, and they fully explained my options, offered fair rates, and here and there have spent a little extra time without charging me. They’ve also been my go to for getting referrals to other car service providers. I’ll always go to them first.
Also they do quick and thorough oil changes.

This place is great. After weeks of futile work and hundreds of dollars being wasted on another repair shop that couldn’t help me I got a second opinion here. The staff is very friendly and were compassionate to my needs. They are prompt following up with you on repairs and have speedy service.
I don’t always trust repair shops but the combination of clear and accurate communication, great work, and speedy follow ups make this place great!
If you need a repair call in early because they get busy quickly!

My husband and I are very reasonable people, we don’t like to give bad reviews but this experience only deserves such a review. We took our old Mercedes in because it was running a little funny and after only driving old cars, I didn’t want to take the chance of being stranded on the side of the road like I did with my other old cars. Our car is going on 20 years so we understand there can be a laundry list of fixes but we never expected to get our car back WORSE than when we brought it in.
$ 1500 dollars later in repairs that only seemed to rob us and lessen my confidence in the car even more, we ended up having to buy a new car over the weekend as our old car started shutting down on us when we would turn the AC on (which never happened before we took it in).
The only reason we are giving it 2 stars is because the service was nice, as far as talking with Sophie and the other young guy, but the owner made me feel stupid and overwhelmed we with all the problems with the car that I ended up spending way more money than we needed to.
And this goes beyond our personal opinion! One of the many problems the owner said we had was that we needed new front tires because they were completely ruined. So I bring the car to Costco to get new tires and Costco tells me that our tires are fine. So now I question everything that the owner told us.
