Specialties

Houses Olympic standard Men’s and Women’s artistic gymnastics equipment in accordance with USA Gymnastics standards.

Padded floor and equipment areas ensure safety for our gymnasts. Two uniquely designed foam pits allow students to safely practice, vault, tumbling, rings, high bar, and uneven bar skills.

Programs for both boys and girls ages 2 and up. Caring and knowledgeable instructors. Strong, award-​wining competitive girls, boys and Xcel teams and college scholarship recipient graduates.

We believe children learn best when they enjoy what they are doing. That’s why we nurture both the physical and mental growth of our gymnasts, and we place emphasis on developing foundation skills to safely prepare and build confidence in achieving advanced skills.

History

Established in 2004.

WCOGA opened its doors November of 2004 with the goal to develop a gymnastics program to fit the desires and needs of all athletes from ages 2 years and above. Since that time, we have provided gymnastics training to over 1000 aspiring gymnasts. As a result, we now have one of the most successful competitive teams in California, and our boy’s team was recently ranked within the top 10 in the country.

Meet the Business Owner

Vince M.

Business Owner

Vince Miller, who has a BA degree in Child Development, is one of the founding members of WCOGA. He has been designated Northern California Boys Gymnastics Association (NCBGA) coach of the year numerous times since 1990. In his coaching career, he has coached many successful gymnasts; including national event and all-​around champions. His graduates have also gone on to receive college scholarships in gymnastics, most recently at Stanford University and West Point.

Miller also has an extensive judging experience. Vince is the past chairman of the NCBGA. Vince Miller who has produced over 100 state champions, 56 regional champions, and national champions. He is regarded as one of the best coaches in the country and currently serves as a Junior National Olympic Coach. He has been awarded Northern California Coach of the Year for the following years: 1990, 1993, 1995, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Really like my son’s teacher Izzy teaching his young gymnastics mind and body (He’s 3.5). Wish they answered their phones more, but the school is great overall and he has so much fun here.

I have had my daughter take two trial classes both of which were not what I expected in a kinder gymnastics class. So much of the class was sitting down such that my 3-​year-​old was not at all interested in even staying for the entire time! Her first trial was at age 2 and she went today and she is now 3 so I gave it a year thinking that perhaps she wasnt ready developmentally. The teacher didn’t even introduce herself to me and I doubt she introduced herself to my daughter! It seems like the gym is pretty chaotic since it took me several weeks to even schedule the trial. Since this most recent issue, I’m thinking that the issue is the gym and not necessarily my child. I’m so glad I didn’t sign her up for classes! If you have young ones who are curious, smart, active, and bright avoid this place!

I have been wanting to give a review for some time but just now getting around to it. My daughter has been a gymnast at WCOGA for almost 4 years. Her coaches have always been of great caliber and she enjoys going to practice every single day.
Yes, WCOGA has had ups and downs (all gyms have), but I am so glad we stuck it out. The gym is under new management now which has made a world of difference. Maria is extremely professional, and has a wealth of experience to go with it. She is very organized and supportive to the entire gym of athletes. The owner is equally supportive and dedicated to his gym and its members. The two seem to work wonderfully together.

The coaches at this gym have been wonderful to my daughter. She started in the rec classes before joining the XCEL team at the bronze level and then advanced to silver and now gold. She trains 7 hours a week and looks forward to practice every time. We keep her at WCOGA because she has benefited in so many ways: goal setting, work ethic, team spirit, overcoming fears and obstacles, self-​esteem, physical and mental strength, ability to perform in front of audiences, and excellent coaching from Maria and Janna.

My daughter has been going to WCOGA for almost five years. She has improved a lot and she enjoys it so much. Her coaches are very nice and are very good at doing what they do. They help and support her, at every practice. She also gets along with all of her coaches and team mates very well. I definitely recommend this gym.

My daughter has been on the Excel team for a few years here (having tried other gyms in the area first). She loves the gym, her team and her coaches. Their approach certainly works for her and she has advanced accordingly.
We’ve been very happy with the way she’s treated and coached. Yes, there has sometimes been room for improvement in some of the scheduling and clarity on requirements for progression etc. but any issues or misunderstandings have always been dealt with quickly and professionally when we asked. All the staff I have dealt with have been friendly and happy to help.
Reading the previous reviews regarding safety — our experience has been that this gym always seems to pay close attention to the safety of their students. Gymnastics is a very physical pursuit — there are going to be injuries just as there are on the soccer fields, baseball diamonds and skate-​parks — but we’re happy that the staff here do everything they can to minimize those risks.

My daughter has been attending WCOGA for three years now. She started at level one and is now a Silver on the Xcel team. She has progressed over the years and the classes have added depth to my daughter’s character. She has learned how to be a team player, and how to compete individually.
I have had great customer service by the staff members, and I am grateful for the coaches who invest their time and patience in developing my daughter’s skill level. I am happy that my daughter is a part of this gym and the Xcel team. I would recommend this gym to parents as a great place to see your kids grow and develop. The environment has a positive atmosphere, and inspirational gymnasts.

This is the worst gym ever! My daughter has gone here for 5 mos. and we have had nothing but problems from the beginning the girl at the front desk was extremely rude! Unfortunately we chose to sign my daughter up and take classes there anyways! The teacher that initially started the class was not trained very well, and the kids looked bored and like they weren’t learning much! Then they added a new teacher, in four months I had been through three teachers already, The last teacher was the secretary that I had talked to five months earlier, Who was not qualified and had no qualifications to teach the class other then the owner showing her how to do it! The owner of the gym Vince is extremely rude and has no personable skills either! When I tried to talk with him he had no idea who I was did not know my name and had no idea who my daughter was even though we had been going there for almost 6 months! And I had paid $ 600 already, When I explained to him that I had had issues with the teacher he said that she was well trained but could not show me any credentials that he had trained her for, he then proceeded to say if you do not like my teachers you need to leave! I explained to him that I had three other friends who had daughters who had been hurt and his gym! He said I was a liar and I was getting kicked out of the classes immediately! I told him we would never be back because I am not risking my daughter getting hurt by a teacher who has no idea what she’s doing! I would not suggest sending any kids here these people are very unprofessional and have no idea what they’re doing and it’s a very high risk that your child will get hurt here just like my three friends whose children were hurt!

We spent two years at this gym. I just moved my preschooler to Edge and we are very happy there — a world of improvement. Our preschooler did not enjoy the class taught by the teacher with no real interest and too many kids in class. Maria is the only quality instructor we came across. Our two older daughters took beginning tumbling from Nacho and had an awful experience because of him — calling our oldest lazy, making her cry. We pulled them out quickly. Laurie in the office was extremely helpful at all times with scheduling. We will never be coming back here

We had a great experience here with Sasha and the trainers. My daughter absolutely loved the place and had so much fun. The prices are reasonable for the area and the facilities are safe for little girls. Not the most conveniennt place for my schedule or freeway access but thats the break for me.
Happy and safe. Plus, my daughter Jennifer is asleep in the car when she finishes her class.

I like my daughter ‘s coach. My daughter has been learning a lot from level 2 class. But about my son’s kinder class, one of teacher name Michelle. I never see she smile to children… we are on upstairs, can’t really hear what they talk. but by seeing her face with kinder ages kids. don’t feel friendly at all.

This gym is amazing! They have a whole new coaching staff, olympic quality, a great mission statement, and a system of encouragement, and training that works, and wins!
My older daughter (13) has been in gymnastics for 10 years and hurt herself playing soccer. She was out for 2 – 3 months and was told by her OLD gym that she would not be able to get her skills or a routine ready in time to compete optionals. She was crushed. Three other gyms said the same thing. The coaches at W.C.O.G.A. believed in her, as much as she did. With their help and support, she got her skills, she got a routine, she was able to compete, make states, finish strong in 5th place, and move up to the next level. She is so happy that W.C.O.G.A. and all four of her coaches, made her dreams come true. She cries when she has a day off from the gym. AWESOME!!!
Very happy! This gym LOVES the sport, and lives for the sport. The ratios are great and the kids form sisterhoods and brotherhoods here! This is the place to watch your child grow, learn and love gymnastics.

Much improved. We have been coming here with my 4 yr old daughter for a year and I have seen a lot of changes and I am happy to see the change in the new preschool director/​teacher. Charlie is great with the kids and knows how to direct them. I know that teaching little ones can be challenging but she has done a really good job with the preschool classes. My daughter really loves gymnastics and it’s nice to have a teacher who is organized and has a good command of the class.

I agree with the other reviewer that the management of this business is horrible because the place is chaotic and unstructured with most teachers clueless as to which sections are booked for what time, etc.
We liked our daughter’s teacher but most of the other teachers are unfriendly and seem highly distracted during the class. The teachers frequently don’t show up so they combine classes for various levels which results in newer students getting little or no attention.
All in the all, it was a complete waste of money. The real tragedy is that my daugher LOVES gymnastics and this was a terrible first experience for her. I am actively looking for another class for her before she gets frustrated and gives up altogether.
One more thing that irks me about this facility is that they have junk food vending machines in the locker rooms, which tells me that they are not serious about my child’s well being or health but only interested in making money.

We moved here a few years ago from another gym and really loved it! My child made progress and as long as we had the same teacher, things were good. But the lady in the office doesn’t want to hear about problems you are having or really want to help you with problems. She has never given me the impression she values me as a customer. If you take two classes a week and have two different coaches, it is chaos! They don’t teach the same things!!! I tried to get an answer on why it was so and I’m still in the dark as to why two different coaches for the same level don’t teach the same things. All teachers teach the same things in each level for ice skating and ballet, why not gymnastics? There is no clarity on how you move from one level to the next. You are treated like a second class citizen if you are not on the team or predevelopmental team (and how do you even get there?). With the summer schedule, I was a bit confused by what my child was not learning. So, I asked the coach what level he was teaching. He said he didn’t know!!! Then how can you teach? It’s time to move on. We spend too much money to be treated like dirt and no consistent quality in teaching.

We switched to wcoga in Jan 2010 after my daughter became too advanced for the local recreation district’s gymnastics classes. We have had four of the main teachers, and have also tried classes in the morning & afternoon at all different times. The teachers are WONDERFUL. However, the office manager/​secretary has been inconsistent. She has given us incorrect information about class size several times (saying there are only 5 students in a class, when there are really 8 = my daughter doesn’t get enough attention in class). The class sizes have increased greatly in the last month, but they don’t have more teachers. Also, several parents including myself requested a new level 2 class in the mornings & were told by the office manager it was going to happen. After two months of asking about it and being told meetings were being held about it, it never came to be. We finally gave up when they released the summer schedule.
Also, I had a question about my daughter’s progress and called to talk to her teacher. The teachers are in back-​to-​back classes all afternoon, so I was told she would call me at 7:30pm when her classes finished. Unfortunately, this is the 3rd day in a row I have called and the teacher has yet to return my call.
When we first joined the academy I LOVED everything about it, but I’m starting to get burned out by the lack of personal attention my daughter is getting and the lack of communication between teachers and parents when it comes to our child’s progress. We pay A LOT of money to send our daughter to classes there, and expect a lot of attention to her in return.
