This is one of the best indoor ranges east of St. Louis that I’ve been to. The people are very friendly and want you to ask questions so that you get a fun and safe shooting experience. I really appreciate the filtering system that is installed because you don’t smell like gunpowder when you get home.
I’ve recently been to Top Gun, another indoor range in Missouri, and Rampart Range is every bit as nice from a shooting perspective. They do have quite a few more rental guns which hopefully Mark will consider getting in the future so people can try out guns before they buy them.
Great place that is close to home and appreciate the friendly staff.

Rampart is one of the newer ranges now operating in the metro-​east area. The owner, Mark Owensby is a retired Illinois State Trooper with 30+ years as a State Police and civilian firearms instructor. He’s friendly and accommodating, as is his entire staff.
Rampart’s indoor range features ten, 25-​yard lanes for both handgun and rifle target shooting. The automatic target retrieval system allows the shooter adjust and set the target at just the right distance. They DO NOT allow steel core rounds of any type. All ammo to be used on the range is tested by the staff to verify non-​steel core ammo.
The range boasts the most advanced HEPA filtration system to keep the air free of harmful gases. The range lighting and visibility is exceptionally well lit!
Rampart also has a small retail store. Limited merchandise is offered, but they do have a fairly decent assortment of firearms. Plenty of popular ammo though.
Illinois CCW courses are now being taught. The classes are given twice a week and on the weekend.
Okay, here’s the coolest thing about Rampart Range… every Thursday is «Ladies’ Day.» Ladies who buy one box of range ammo get to use the range free of charge. And if that’s not cool enough… every Friday night is «Date Night.» Couples get a range lane for just $ 22 and 10% off ammo purchases!
The only complaint I have about Rampart is the temperature of the range. It isn’t heated. When it’s cold outside, it’s cold on the range. Other than that, this is an excellent place to shoot!
