History

Established in 1988.

We began in 1988 as one of the first digital color houses in the country. As printing operations became more computerized, our knowledge of digital prepress gave us a head start in offset printing. New technologies allowed us to shape an offset printing operation that was far less wasteful than traditional shops.

We have one essential goal: Offer eco-​friendly printing, but do it without sacrificing quality or value. To achieve this, we’ve invested in technologies that are not only cleaner but more efficient Most customers are pleasantly surprised to discover that, in addition to being eco-​friendly, our printing is usually better than the competition’s, while still being affordable.

While we are proud to have been one of the first printers in the country to become green certified and use recycled papers and soy & vegetable inks exclusively, we realize there is still much to do. That’s why we like to say that «Going green is a journey.»

Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, with its proximity to so many natural wonders, I have always felt a strong connection to nature and the environment. But it wasn’t until the birth of my second child that I became passionate about making sure my business was as sustainable as it was successful. I felt it my responsibility as a business owner to see that my children could grow up enjoying the natural beauty of the Bay Area that I have come to love.

Great in person, telephone customer services. Printing quality is good. Absolutely useless automatic web responses that generated by the set up and or email protocol.
I receive 21 emails within 3 days of a simple submission and a minor change that did not work.
Things work out at the end because again their in person customer service.

If I could give a negative star I would. This is literally a complete disaster. You have completely screwed up my ability to get invites out on time, and the response from you is «some things are just out of your control.» ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Is that how to run a business? Here’s what happened:
invites look fine, but the ‘to’ address on EVERy envolope was so small that the post office couldn’t even scan them… OH, and any zip that started with a zero? Yeah, no one needs those zeros anyway right?! Ok great, so our designer calls you to fix it on Wednesday, and you say you’ll finish printing the new ones by Thursday and have them to us by Friday. Well, it’s Friday evening and just a few hours ago you said sorry our printer is broken and we’ll have to place a service call on MONDAY??? WHAT??? This is literally the worst business I have EVER dealt with.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Love this printer. Switched recently from another local printer and let me say I DO NOT regret it one bit! My print job came super fast and looked amazing and the service was awesome. I worked with a gentleman named Nick, who was very patient answering all my questions and ensured me that my job would be on time. Not only was it on time but it was early, which is always a nice surprise. Thanks GreenerPrinter, ill definitely be back!

Ordered brochures and several delivery dates were missed. I was told they would be ready on a Monday, they were ready Tuesday. I asked that they be shipped locally, they never arrived. Was told by customer service «Oops we forgot to ship them». Then they said brochures would arrive Monday morning. No brochures. Called the customer service again and was told it was my fault as I didn’t input the correct address. Uh. you guys entered the address over the phone, not me. Now told «they still won’t arrive today». Wow. Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. It’s one thing to make a mistake, quite another to blame the customer for it when it was clearly an internal error. No apology either. Whatever. DO NOT user this printer if you are at all concerned about timing and delivery dates.

The first time I used this printer I was very happy with the results, But when I had to reorder the the same job. then it became a nightmare. They would not match the previous quality and color. Plus they changed the paper. Also they take too long to print and ship the orders. Not the best experience.

Our experience having our wedding stationery printed with GreenerPrinter was a disaster. They somehow managed to miss the entire back side of the save the dates (yes, we had sent them two images, one called FRONT. PDF and one called BACK. PDF). They fixed the problem when we pointed it out, but not with so much as an apology. Dealing with them all in all was so irritating that we ended up finding another printing company for the invitations and thank-​yous – exactly the sort of headache you DON’T want to have to deal with in addition to every other time-​consuming aspect of wedding planning! Especially for what they charge – these prices ain’t cheap!
After I posted a Unilocal review describing this problem, I received a phone call and emails pressuring me rather heavy-​handedly to delete the negative review – again, without so much as an apology for or acknowledgment of the problems we had. I refused to delete the review, and that review eventually became one of the most helpful reviews of this company. GreenerPrinter apparently then complained to Unilocal that my review was «promotional» in nature simply because I named the company we ended up choosing after our nightmarish experience with GreenerPrinter. They succeeded in getting that review deleted, which is why I am now re-​posting the review. I guess I won’t name the company we used, but not to worry – I’d imagine that almost any company would be better than these guys.

Printed some folders with them and they turned out great for a 4C print job. They are not the cheapest compared to the myriad of online print vendors nowadays, but whenever I do have the budget, I prefer to print locally with a company that can be held accountable for good quality.

This a review for their white ink printing on Kraft + their custom estimate process.
I submitted a custom estimate including all the details and specifications in the notes section. I also called in with instructions. I was printing a card on Kraft paper with each individually addressed. When I received the estimate, all my notes had been deleted from the order, and customer service had no idea what was happening. It took a several phone calls to straighten out the situation and finally, the price was significantly higher. Which was a fine price to pay for the items, but I had given them all the information up front, so I don’t see why there even had to be a «process». This also ultimately delayed the whole job.
Finally, the cards were printed accurately, but it turns out that the white ink process that they use (HP Indigo 7000 Digital press) isn’t actually white. It’s a light grey. I was surprised and called customer service (again!) to see if there was a mistake. Over the phone, they confirmed that the white ink when printed is a light grey color. The women in customer service were helpful and polite. I asked for some samples, and they did sent them quickly. But I think it would’ve been great to know the color of the white ink upfront, since it’s so heavily talked-​up on their blog/​website.
Overall, ok.

My company had been a long term client of Greenerprinter. We loved that they provided a sustainable printing solution, which coincides with our company’s core values. While we might not have been their biggest client, we were frequent clients. Our problems arose when we noticed a distinct change in the quality of the business cards we were ordering. First, there was an obvious decline in digital quality. Text printed on top of solid colored backgrounds appeared pixelated and askew. Secondly, GreenerPrinter traded their standard card stock for an inferior product — one which made the cards appear to be cheap and flimsy.
When I first called GreenerPrinter with my complaint, I was told a manager would call me back. After a week with no call, I decided to follow up. When I spoke with Jeff, he agreed that they weren’t happy with the paper quality and would be discontinuing its use. Rather than asking them to reprint all 15 of the business card orders, I compromised and asked that they reprint 2 orders — those for our CEO, and those for one of our lead sales people — using the old card stock. He agreed to this and I sent our design files directly to him.
After another two weeks of not hearing back from him, I followed up again via email. No response. Enough is enough. This blatant disregard for customer service is why we won’t be using greenerprinter anymore. I suggest that you save yourself the headache and find a different printer.

Fantastic quality, sturdy cards! The colors look amazing, they did a beautiful job. I was ordering business cards for the first time ever, so I looked at reviews online for printing places. I stumbled upon Greenerprinter, and saw the reviews were all pretty good, so I gave it a chance… I got my cards exactly as planned (the turnover date, shipping time were both exactly accurate!), and the quality is really fabulous.
The customer service replied to my emails super promptly, and super professionally. I will definitely be recommending Greenerprinter to all my friends and fellow artists… anyone who needs to print things. I’m very happy!

I could not be happier with the service and quality on my first printing project with Greener Printer. I called on a Tuesday for a project needed on Thursday. Not only did the posters arrive right on schedule but they looked absolutely fabulous. The colors were vibrant, the packaging sturdy so they didn’t get damaged in transit, follow up emails confirming receipt of my files and delivery of the final product, competitive pricing — it all added up to a great experience. And the environmentally friendly production is just the cherry on top. Thanks for the great service — I’ll be back.

I’ve used Greenerprinter several times now and I’m very happy with their high quality work and excellent customer service. The web interface is easy to use and provides immediate price quotes for whatever products and options you choose. Their customer service team is very helpful and easy to work with if you have to change an order or need additional assistance. Their product pricing is competitive and fair. Considering this is all Green-​Eco friendly printing, I am very pleased with this company! I’ll definitely be using them for all my future print jobs.

I used to love this place, but they have slowly and definitively left my good graces. First it was a template of theirs that was laid out really badly — misaligned. We threw the cards away, ate the cost. Okay. Next they protested my bringing a $ 1200 bicycle inside (had not brought a lock) for a brief pickup. Annoying but whatever.
The last straw was today, they cut my business cards incorrectly so one margin is smaller than the other. Instead of apologizing and agreeing to fix it, they are giving me the runaround.
You have lost my business forever. Not a smart move — I am a marketer and had been recommending you widely. Now it’s the opposite.

Not a neighborhood type of place where they remember your name and ask after your family, but they print well and they are not very expensive. They graciously accommodate rush orders.
While their upload tool is easy to use I do not recommend using the ‘design center’ track of their online ordering system. Do choose the soft proof option – they won’t check if the file is okay before going ahead with your order.
