Great Family Atmosphere to ice skate or play hockey. My 2 boys started with Learn to Skate and now play Travel hockey. Although Glacier may not have the neon lights or bells and whistles, it is Much more of a value for your money than the other ice rinks in the area.

Everything looks old with urgent maintenance needed. Lockers don’t work, skates are horribly destroyed, staff is unfriendly and looking bored all the time. There’s no support at all for first timers, considering that people can get hurt with no first time guidance.

BADFACILITIES — BADEQUIPMENT — BADSERVICE. We went on a Saturday morning. I was in line about to buy the Groupon(skating, skate rental, popcorn, and drink), and asked the employee if she’d rather give me the discount and not have to pay Groupon. She said, «I don’t care. I just work here.» I bought the Groupon. The rink was being used for training, so we only got to use the kiddie rink which was about the size of a volleyball court, and in horrible condition, the rental skates were destroyed, even worse than most rental skates, and the snack bar was out of popcorn and fruit punch. LOL. It’s hard to imagine a more disappointing skating experience.

How are you going to have a special and not be able to support it? This place ran out of popcorn which is part of the weekend skate special but they refuse to compensate for not having popcorn. But what makes it worse is that some of the employees are rude about it. That is really not good for a business to be this way. I won’t be coming back Let me add that an older lady is the one that refused to compensate for not having any popcorn. Another lady understood but could not because the older lady is in charge. No this place is not that nice at all and I am not being picky… just honest

I hadn’t been ice skating for a while when I came here. Popped in during late October, on a random Friday evening later in the public skate session. If I remember right it went from 7 – 10 and we got in around 8:30. Skate rental plus admission for 2 people was around the $ 20 range. Not bad for a cheap date night. Hey-forces you to stay semi close to each other if you suck(and hold hands) or starts some healthy competition! In my case I have a born and bred Minnesota Hockey player to compete with and a bad knee on my side so I knew I was losing, but all in all I’m not a bad skater. The ice was pretty choppy by the time we got there, but it wasn’t SOBAD that you couldn’t skate on it. For a Friday night there were a decent amount of teenagers and kids there later at night which was surprising, so beware if you’re trying to skate slowly to «endless love»…not going to happen. Not my cup of tea, but there was one couple who looked peeved that there wasn’t hearts on the ice and rainbows. Andddddd there was Nicki Minaj and Drake playing LOUDLY the entire time. Except for the last song which the DJ called the«last dance skate» or something cutesy like that, but it was still a rap/R&B song that was mildly romantic you could hold hands with your boo and skate to. By that point me and BF were off the ice. I would probably come back here but on a less crowed night like Wednesday when there is a lesser possibility of it being crowded with high school kids on sucking face in public dates and music that is so loud that is screeching my eardrums-and I’m not even 30.

My boyfriend has suddenly become obsessed with ice skating. He moved his very own pair of ice skates from Massachusetts to Florida, and three years later decided it was time to use them. I haven’t ice skated in a number of years, but it is a cute date night idea, and since we were putting up the Christmas tree, I figured it would be a good way to kick off the holiday season. The Glacier Ice and Snow Arena offers quite a variety of services. They have hockey leagues for all ages and skill levels, learn to skate classes which range from beginners to figure skating, they offer birthday party packages, snow play/skate time, and a public free skate, which is what we were there for. The public skating schedule is pretty open with morning and afternoon slots daily, and evenings open four days a week. Sunday night is cheap skate night at $ 9 a person, with free skate rental(skate rental is usually $ 3). We arrived on Sunday evening for the cheap skate at 6:40. Be careful, the parking lot is a little tricky(or maybe I’m just an idiot) because the lines weren’t too obvious to me and I ended up just parking next to another car, which happened to put me right in the middle of the fire lane, so I needed to move. Entering the rink it is very dated. The automatic doors don’t work anymore, and you approach a glass counter where you pay. The service was a little awkward(most of the staff seemed to be high school students, who just don’t have that friendly customer service attitude) but we got our wristbands and headed inside. They do take credit cards, which I was relieved to find, because once I saw the old school nature of the facility I was afraid it would be cash only, but the card machine was a little slow. The girl at the skate rental counter was friendly making for a much less awkward transaction than at the front door. The girl informed us that there were lockers available but warned that they don’t really work well, and suggested that we were better off just leaving our shoes at the tables on the side of the rink. I don’t wear expensive shoes and left my purse in the car, so I had no issue with this. There are two rinks here, a larger and a smaller, and the cheap skate Sunday is done on the smaller ice as there appeared to be a hockey practice going on on the large ice. I’m not sure if Sunday nights are usually so quiet, or if it was a result of the end of the holiday weekend, but we had the ice to ourselves for the first twenty minutes or so, and then a few more people started tickling in, but I don’t think there were ever more than ten on the ice at once. Skating was a little nerve wracking at first because I wasn’t sure what would happen if I fell(visions of breaking every bone in my body came to mind) but I caught on pretty quickly with childhood memories of ice skating on frozen ponds coming back to me. There were a few more experiences skaters practicing some of their figure skating moves on the ice, so it’s good to watch them and what they do with their feet… it helps. There was a younger, probably high school student, watching over the rink, and coming out every once in awhile to check on things. There weren’t too many falls, but he was there right away to make sure everything was ok when there was. We ended up skating for about an hour and a half. It felt like a pretty good workout and once you get the hang of it it’s a lot of fun. The rink is definitely a little chilly, so you may want to bring gloves and a hat or scarf, and wear long sleeves, but once you get moving you warm up for sure. I definitely had at least four stars worth of fun here, but the dated atmosphere kept me holding back a little. From the lockers, to the skates, to the tables and chairs, to the sound system, everything looks(and sounds) like it had seen much better days. That being said, for less than $ 20 we had a great date night, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Just be aware that you’re not walking into a state of the art ice arena and you’ll have a great time.

This is a very nice skating rink but that’s about all. I am currently looking for a better alternative to this place. $ 9 admission $ 3 walker rental $ 3 skate rental This places changers for everything and yet is it so old and dirty… thankfully the ice is clean and they usually have a staff member on the ice to help little kids if they fall. For a first-timer this is good and fun, but for what I pay for, I would like it better.

I brought my teenage nieces who have been playing on hockey leagues for years. The rental skates we were given were so worn and the blades were so dull that we requested other pairs to try. After changing 3 times, we asked the staff to sharpen the blades which they did manually(didn’t make much of a difference) and they told us if we wanted to have them properly sharpened, we could… at a cost of $ 10 per pair — policy of Glacier Ice. Why on earth should we incur that expense. To maintain their equipment? More to the point, wearing dull blades makes for unsafe skating as my nieces claimed it was virtually impossible to stop in a reasonable distance and to essentially control the skates. I do agree with previous reviews; the arena is not just dated but in disrepair. We could have overlooked that aspect but after our experience, we will not be returning. Do not waste your time or money.

This is an older ice arena and you can see it in a few details. However, it’s clean, the ice surface is decent, and ice skating fun isn’t about newer tables and pro shops. My daughter’s rental skates worked just fine, but at her young age almost any skates in the right size would work. If you are in the area, give skating here a try.

I had a great time here. I don’t know if its because i was there during the day but it wasn’t crowed with a bunch of little kids falling in front of me or riding around the wrong way. There’s a small arcade area with an Air hockey table, lockers for your shoes, a place to buy some refreshments and all the usual things you fins at a rink. I grew up ice skating in the winter up north so being able to go ice skating any time of the year in FL wearing shorts is awesome in my book!

Went here last night with my great boyfriend and his co-workers and had a blast! Although you can’t really tell from looking on the outside, there is a great deal of inexpensive yet daring fun to be had. I have not iceskated in almost 10 years but was sooo excited to be back on the ice! The place is clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly! There is a small concession area for ‘the usuals”: french fries, corndogs and etc. Prices seem pretty fair… didn’t try any though… maybe next time. $ 6 for iceskating makes it a GREAT place in my book! Try it! Enjoy it!

It’s a small older rink and everything there shows it. But they have solid adult & kids hockey leagues as well as plenty of open ice time. The sheet is smaller than your regular NHL size rinks at others in the area, but the price bears it and the leagues are great. Staff is friendly & the pro shop has plenty of supplies, although you’ll more likely find better prices on bigger ticket items online. They have your average rink food, but great prices for beer, which is a must in an adult hockey league ;).
