Marcus Ornellas Salon & Spa

I initially stumbled upon this salon through Groupon in an effort to find a new hair stylist. Marcus absolutely exceeded my expectations and I have been coming back for about 2 years now. The salon is very modern and Marcus keeps up with the new and upcoming styling products and techniques. The staff is very professional and I am very happy I found this salon!

I had a less than pleasant experience here. We got groupons for mani/​pedi & gels. We had 3 people & there’s only 2 chairs, which is fine. But upon completing the first mani/​pedi, the girl did not take our other person & made her wait until the 2 others were done to start. So we spent about 3+ hours in the salon. The pedis were awful & we basically left with new toe nail colors, not a real pedi. Actually one person did not even get lotion on her feet & legs. Then the manicures were okay. 12 hours later, the one mani already started chipping ! Then another person who got gels, the color totally faded.
To make it all worse, the one tech ended up having another client come in, & when watching her, she treated this person so much better.
I felt as though we were a bother to them. & I certainly will not be returning ! & I hope everyone sees about our experience!

This is the first time in 30+ years (!) that someone other than my regular haircutter in NYC has taken scissors to my hair… and it was a great success. I was very pleased with the overall ambience and professionalism of the salon. Marcus is the man!

We are in Florida for a few months. That meant finding a salon I could trust to do color and cut. I read and reread the Unilocal reviews over and over again. I am so so happy to have tried the Marcus Ornellas salon. The minute I walked in I knew I was in the right place. The salon is white bright and very stylish and super clean. After a detailed consultation Marcus made sure he got my color exactly right and then gave me a great trim. I decided to go do the keratin treatment as well. Since he is Brazilian he knows exactly how it should be done. Everyone at the salon was warm and friendly. I also got a great gel manicure. My husband also got his haircut. We were both very happy and feel better that we have a place to come to that we can trust when we are in Florida.

Marcus and his team are incredibly professional. The service and their expertise exceeded any of the much pricier salons’. I trusted them from the first second although I didn’t exactly know what I want to do with my hair. I couldn’t be happier and definitely will be back.

Let me start off by saying that when I made my appointment they were super friendly and fit in THREE appointments on short notice and one of them was close to their closing time but they still took us. Secondly, I made the mistake and thought they said 10:30 but my appointment was at 10! They still took me! The owner Marcus is super friendly and nice. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! This place really is amazing!

Very mixed review… At first the owner seemed frustrated that I asked questions about the steps he was going to take. When I advised it wanted something else he got very upset. Eventually warmed up after he realized I was 2 mins away from getting out of the chair and walking away. I came in with a picture n left with nothing like it. They kept convincing me that it would look different after I washed it a few times. Now in my head I thought, «aren’t u supposed to leave a salon with exactly what you want, not wait a few weeks for results». Let’s just say 5 hrs, yes I said 5 hours, and $ 140 later, I left with what looks like a basic hair dye and random unnoticeable highlights… When your a mother and barely have time for yourself, a few hours away from the kids and a possible new and refreshed look is something you so look forward to. That wasn’t the case when I left here. Was actually so upset that I wasted a whole evening away from them and $ 140 on something I could of done myself at home… Only positive was the Brazilian products they use. Apparently made with natural products from what I was told

Customer service is horrendous. I bought the groupon for a gel manicure. They supposively open at 10. I called 6 times between 10 and 11 to book an appointment and left two messages, and nothing. I don’t know if they’re out of business, unprofessional, or just rude. Either way, I cancelled the groupon order and they lost a potential returning client. Took my business to Venetian Nail Spa where they do an EXCELLENT job and answer the phone within one ring!

I just went to Marcus today after redeeming my (first!) groupon ever. I never get my hair professionally done and I’ve never used groupon before so to say the least I was very apprehensive. I traveled really far from my town to get to the salon (about an hour) but I figured it was worth the trip to treat myself. No regrets! I got full highlights, a hair cut, and a blowout.
The entire staff was skilled and attentive. The girl at the front desk/​who did my blowout (didn’t catch her name. Possibly Fabiana) was so sweet and made my hair look fantastic. I don’t know what I’m doing with my blowdryer at home but it’s definitely not what she did.
For the most part I let Marcus do what he wanted with my hair. I brought in photos of Elizabeth Olsen’s shoulder-​length bob as a general idea. He glanced at the photos and managed to give me exactly what I wanted. He works so quickly and my hair hangs so nicely now. The layers are perfect, not too straight and not too choppy.
My hair is already blonde, but with multiple shades because after dyeing my hair for years I’ve decided to give it a break so it’s growing out. I was a little worried about the highlights because of this, but they pull everything together! They’re the perfect thickness (I was worried about getting stripey Kelly Clarkson-​esque highlights) and they’re dispensed very naturally. I haven’t been able to stop messing with my hair since I left the salon. Lovely environment too, very classy but doesn’t feel uptight.
Oh, and something else I think is important — after I made the appointment with someone on the phone, Marcus called the next day to verify, which I thought was very professional/​reassuring. He also called today (day of) to confirm. Very impressed with the level of professionalism.

I had the most perfect Keratin Treatment ever. I’m from Brazil and I live in Florida it’s been 4 years now. During these years I have never been able to find a good salon, good service, good people and the most important, a good brazilian keratin. If you are brazilian you will understand what I’m saying. It’s not easy to find the perfect keratin out of Brazil. But ladies, I have found the place.
Marcus Ornellas salon is great. The space is clean and well organized, the people are super friendly, the price is fair and they all do a great job.
I’m super happy with the result I’ve got. I totally recommend Marcus’ Salon. They’ve just got a regular client.

I had a mani/​pedi with Minellis today and it came out beautiful. First she helped me pick out the color that would go well with the dress I was going to wear. She also gave me an accent finger, which I was unaware is the trend now (I don’t get my nails done often). I’m sure I’ll be back to get them redone soon.

Marcus is awesome. My hair looks better than ever. I went in for a simple cut and blow dry; he suggested I do long layers so I went with it and it looks great. It’s perfect to give my hair a little more bounce. He knows what he’s doing! I have been going to the same salon (another one) for years but I won’t be going back there again… I’m 100% with Marcus now!
The salon itself is cute and clean and the prices are good. Apparently when I went he had a groupon special so he gave me the discounted price too :)
Overall, excellent.

Marcus did such an exceptional job with my hair (gave me a great cut for my wedding) that I brought my wife along the second time. He can handle both men’s & women’s hair equally well. Won’t go anywhere else for haircuts from now on.

Wonderful hands!!! Had exactly what I asked for my haircut. Not more, not less. Excelent staff, Cozy space and good prices! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
