On a cheesesteak binge lately, after having the most delicious cheesesteak at Café Matorano’s and Fascino’s down in Hollywood… This cheesesteak was not bad at all. It was quite good… Though, unfortunately, it didn’t blow me away like the above mentioned or even CityPub for that matter… However, I will certainly give it another shot!

I was looking for a sandwich shop close to Broward Health North Hospital. Based on a nurse’s recommendation I chose the The Steak and Sandwich Shop on East Sample Rd in Pompano Beach. I called ahead and placed my order to be picked up… The owner Niko was very pleasant and easy to deal with… This is not your typical deli, they have a nice variety of sandwiches and salads on their menu. I ordered 2 cheesesteaks with the works. To my surprise they were large and loaded with steak, peppers, onions and melted cheese… My cheesesteak had good flavor and I only was able to eat half. I ordered another cheesesteak this time as a combo meal. This sandwich shop doesn’t skimp… My meal came loaded with French fried and it was enough for the 3 of us to share. The other sandwiches I ordered were corn beef, and pastrami… My pastrami sandwich was piled high on a toasted sub roll with spicy brown mustard. They were out of rye bread. The pastrami was very lean and flavorful… The other sandwich was corn beef, it was also very lean and delicious… For dessert I got 2 pieces of baklava. It was equally good… If your in the area and your looking for a place for lunch or grab takeout this is your place to come.

We stopped by the Steak Shop on our way to a concert in Pompano Beach. A friend recommended it. It was delicious! We both ordered the Philly Cheesesteaks. One with mozzarella cheese and mushrooms and one with mozzarella cheese, onions and peppers. Everything was yummy, and the rolls had the perfect crunch. The half was big enough to fill us up — but we wish we had leftovers! It’s a family run business and 2 of the owners(brothers Niko and Lupo) were there — very nice guys and passionate about their food. We will be back very soon!

I ordered a cheesesteak and got pretty much a slice of cheese with ground beef. I asked them to put more cheese on the steak and I got with an attitude so there is cheese on the steak. I asked them to put more cheese on the steak again and they threw two slices on and put it in the microwave. They gave me back the sandwich and the cheese wasn’t even melted. What a waste of 10 minutes waiting for sorry Philly cheesesteak.

Ok I rarely write reviews but new year. Parking and access to this place are fine. I was excited to go here because the owner was rumored to be from Philly. This place does a serious business from what I could tell. I had a old school cheesesteak and my friend had a hoagie. Hoagie looked good and my cheese steak was well nasty… Grease dripping off it like crazy and the meat tasted awful. Not to mention this place which has been around since 1986 looks like it hasn’t been touched since 1986 and hasn’t been cleaned since 1986 it was dirty as an understatement. Won’t be going back.

After the last experience I decided to try this place for take out. I ordered a half veggie sub and what I received was basically onions, green peppers, and two slices of cheese thrown on top. I couldn’t even eat it so I just threw it away. Great waste of food. It looks like whoever works there today does not care at all because I’m unsure how they can serve this respectfully.

I’m always in search for a really good cheese steak. So when my husbands friends told us about this place we decided to give it. First walking into the place I wanted to turn back around. Its definitely a hole in the wall. I really love finding holes in the wall because they usually are the best but this place not so much. Its very outdated and looks messy inside. It needs to have a complete redo of the entire place. It says Cash only at the counter but while we were there a family was walking out because they only took cash and the owner told them he will take there card, so i guess its up to the owner if he wants to take credit or not. They do have an ATM in there but its just silly that they just want to take cash. I ordered a half chicken philly with peppers, onions, lettuce and tomatoes and fries. When I got my philly i was not impressed at all. They put way too much lettuce and huge tomatoes on top of the sandwich instead of dicing them. Every time i took a bite of my sandwich i hardly tasted any meat. It was basically bread with lettuce and tomatoes. There fries i got to give it to them were excellent. I ate the whole basket! My husband got a whole philly cheese steak with onions. His was piled high with meat and looked really good. I had a bite and It wasn’t the best but it was good. Definitely better then my chicken. He enjoyed his, so that’s why i give them two stars.

This place is a hidden gem. I’ve had their burgers as well as the Philly cheese steak and it never disappoints.

I’ve been here some time ago, and I will say the food is okay. The smell will mislead you. One bite and you realize that it has no true flavor but simply unseasoned meat as a taste. It was greasy and just not so palatable for my liking. Friendly service and cook but the food just didn’t bring me back, even the fries. I love fries no amount of catsup or bbq needs or can hide the bland taste. It was a one time thing for me. I wasn’t convinced enough to go back for round two. I live near here and I simply opt to go to Maryland Chicken if I hanker for something naughty to eat.

My bf and I got a philly cheese steak and a gyro and the philly was probably the best I’ve ever had so cheesy and juicy! And the gyro was packed with meat super delicious. Only bad part was that it was cash only. Soo good!

Looked like a nice place for lunch. Dove there ordered and handed them a credit card and they said cash only. It’s 2015, take a credit card already, what are you kidding. I wish they would have indicated cash only before I drove all the way there.

So I wanted something different for lunch and found this place here on Unilocal. No words besides OMG. At least what I got was great. Cheesesteak had great taste and fries were good too. A cash only place and a bit pricey as a combo was $ 11 but at least the food was worth it. I was not disappointed at all. Will be going back.

Best chicken philly in broward! The wine sauce they mix the peppers and onions with is really amazing. I support small businesses being a small business owner myself, I know the importance of this! Try them out u won’t be disappointed

Great hidden spot! Excellent Philly Cheesteak sandwiches. Family owned business. Owner is very nice! Small place(on Sample Rd. just west of US-1) and easy to drive by of your not paying attention. Worth a try!

Been here a few times and very rarely do they disappoint. I would avoid ordering a salad personally. I had a Caesar salad with gyro meat. While the gyro meat was unbelievably flavorful, tender, and abundant, the quality of the lettuce was not that great. Not romaine(pretty essential for a Caesar) and just not that crisp. I think they just use the same lettuce they use for subs which is not great when required to be the focus of the dish. I’ve had their wings with both hot and teriyaki style with garlic. Meaty wings, great flavorful sauce, garlic added a nice kick. Was also able to get them to make me a «buffalo chicken tender» sub which isn’t technically on the menu which was overflowing but the chicken tenders were still very crisp. And as I’ve mentioned before their gyro meat was phenomenal despite any gripes I may have had with the salad itself. Their chocolate chip cookies might also be the best cookies I’ve ever had. They were so hot, soft, and gooey I couldn’t even hold it up. While they might come off a bit straight forward/blunt upon first visit they’re definitely the type of people that will get to know you and your order and will go out of their way to accommodate you.

Amazing philly cheese steaks! The owner is so nice and the food is great. It’s easy to miss from the outside, but I’d eat here again for sure!

The second you walk in you will feel that comfortable feeling of being in a family owned business. Their menu offers a great variety of sandwiches, wings, salads, and greek delights. The philly cheesesteak is their signature sandwich, made with onions, peppers and cheese, just as «any Philly» steak would, but steak and shop uses an original greek olive oil that makes everything on their menu taste original and delicious. Their prices are way below average, especially for the quality of the food and service, with subs ranging from $ 4.00 to $ 7.00. The first time I went there I ordered the meatball parmesan, the restaurant manager told me it was going to be the best meatball parm I’ve ever tried and he was absolutely right! SODELICIOUS!
