Been to Mack’s a couple more times now and need to add another star to my original review. Bar staff is very friendly and accommodating. Recently tried the burgers myself and thought they were pretty decent. Also really enjoyed their goat cheese and beer appetizer and spinach dip. Glad I have given them another chance.

What a wonderful place this is. The food is absolutely amazing and delicious. Something out of a cooking show. Pork chops to die for, salmon so so good. Dessert, just everything that comes out of the kitchen is perfect. And Craig was so friendly, engaging, and goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Love it here! Would drive the 2 hrs to come back in heartbeat. Thank you for a great lunch and experience

Have had lunch and dinner here. This is reasonably priced quality food. The Happy Hour is terrific, but don’t skip the dinner menu. The steak is terrific, the remainder of the menu is wonderful. There is something for everyone. Sincerely: try it — you’ll like it.

The tuna was an awesome starter. I had the skirt steak which was perfect. My wife had the shrimp over spinach which was very good. Even the side Cesar salad was with homemade dressing. I would definitely recommend this place and I’ll be back.

Really surprised at how good this place was. I didn’t expect them to have the extensive menu they did and so I hesitantly ordered the shrimp dinner, which was a really big portion and really, really good. Service was good, place was clean… definitely one of the better places to eat in Pompton and the surrounding area. Definitely will be back.

I’m here quite frequently. It’s the only nice restaurant in the Pompton/Wanaque/Ringwood area that is south of Skyline. Their wine list could improve but it’s better than most places. It’s a nice bar at which to sit and enjoy a lunch. Great bartenders and creative cocktails. Their menu isn’t that adventurous but their specials are usually spot on. Everything is very well-cooked, great burgers and steak sandwiches. The dining area is clean and dark, a nice intimate place for a date. They have a *very* well-priced Sunday brunch with Bloody Marys and Mimosas. The parking situation is just fine and the building itself is cute, a nice ray of hope on that avenue, where the shops go in and out of business regularly and the locals aren’t always the friendliest. Great sign and marketing. Not five stars because the menu and wine list could always improve, and because they’re not always consistent with the quality. Their servers could know a little more about the wine pairings.

If you are looking for a place to whoop it up and lets yours kids run around crazy and screaming this is the place. The food is average-decent. The prices are towards the high end. The service is VERY slow. The restaurant was ¾ full and we waited 50 min. The noise from kids and the bar was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation. Ourselves and the tables to our sides all said we would never come back. For the prices they charge, there are much better options. Complained to the owner and he was very indifferent and callus.

This place was recommended by a friend. The food was ok. We just had some salads. The service was terrible! I was there with my 1 year old and I had asked for some rolls for the table and the check came and the waitress asked if I still wanted them. The waitress seemed annoyed that my daughter wasn’t getting a $ 7 kids menu item and they we asked for water to drink. She also stood over my while I signed the credit card receipt which I thought was very rude. They are WAY over priced for the area. I will never go back again.

Too bad the music was unbearable maybe we could have enjoyed our burgers. We ordered the Mack burger and a regular burger both medium rare. They were both juicy and pretty good. If I had to criticize the Mack burger I would say keep the bacon uniform. Why would you send me one strip crispy and the other rubbery? They had the acoustic guitar channel on SiriusXM playing. Holy smokes… the music consisted of whiney depressed performances. I swore I was in Portland Oregon contemplating suicide. We couldn’t run to the door fast enough.

I had high hopes for this place but it didn’t end up being a success Let’s start with the really long wait for our food to arrive. When it finally arrived, my burger was burnt and my wife’s steak sandwich was also burnt. I was so starving I had to eat it. The waitress was great and offered to replace them but I said I was to hungry to wait. He manager did the right thing and took it off the bill, but that’s not what I am looking for when I go out. I would rather a great meal, than a free meal. So after eating there I looked up what fellow helpers said and yep, they mostly said burnt food too! I can’t risk coming back. Sorry Mack’s, get a cook that doesn’t burn your food. Keep the waitress, she was great!

I found this spot on Unilocal and wanted to go for dinner on Valentine’s Day with my family since we just finished snowboarding at Mountain Creek but unfortunately, they were all booked up so we decided to come back the next day for brunch. It was luckily, quite empty, and we had no problem securing a reservation when we were just 5 minutes away. It’s definitely a kid-friendly place and I enjoyed everything I ate there. The grilled shrimp cocktail came with huge shrimp that tasted great and I really liked the mini hot dog sliders. My sister claims the fish tacos were the best she’s ever had and I also loved how huge the portion was since I got the fried fish and she got the grilled fish. The owner(?) even came over and brought my nieces their ice cream with a complimentary side dish of strawberries with cream, which was a very nice gesture(I snitched some strawberries). We left deliciously stuffed and happy and I’m very glad we agreed to come here instead of the chain restaurants that my brother-in-law wanted to go to like Chili’s or Applebee’s, which A and I’ve never liked. :)

Well I am only giving two stars because currently we are STILL waiting for our food to arrive! It’s been an hour!!! And we ordered burgers! I will add more if/when the food comes out. Ugh. Not looking good. Had high hopes.

I had driven past this place thousands of times, so I figured, why not give it a shot. The first thing I noticed is there’s two entrances; one for the bar and one for the restaurant, which is nice if you want to just go directly to the bar. So after, we were seated I noticed there was a wine menu, which not only offered a large selection of wine bottles, but also had a good selection of wine by the glass. I didn’t see anything about craft beer, so it’s pretty safe to assume that they don’t carry any craft beer. We ordered a fried calamari appetizer, which was pretty good. I liked the fact that it not only came with marinara sauce, but it also came with tarter sauce. Most of the people at my table ordered Burger and sandwiches and my wife had ordered Pasta Primavera. It took forever for our food to come out! I’m not sure why, because it doesn’t take long to make a couple of sandwiches and burgers. My fish sandwhich tasted very good, but my friend and his wife’s food was burnt and the carrots in my wife’s Pasta Primavera was undercooked. Our server was super attentive and friendly plus, she comped both my friends dishes, but clearly the kitchen staff needs to get their act together.

My wife and I go here twice a month. They make killer fish taco’s and a very decent burger. The drinks and food are also fairly priced.

I have been to Macks multiple times and I am a huge fan… Chris the manager is always there to keep an eye on things and thats always a great thing. The food is really pretty awesome for pub fare, the Crab Mac n Cheese, The Burgers with Chipotle, The MARTINI’S are to die for! just go for them! Its a great after work, pop in for a fast bite, have a quick girly gossip fest over drinks, take the kids after their soccer game kinda place. Parking in lot down behind, ladies DONOT wear heels you will crack an ankle walking that hill to get to door, best to find a spot on Wanaque Ave… Fri and Sat nights reserve a table because theres a 2 hour wait at 6 pm… maybe not in winter, but this summer it was jammed! AND check Groupon, Living Social or Amazon Local for deals always running for this place… you will be happy you did!

A nice small bar/restaurant with a good atmosphere. Good appetizers and the best burger I’ve had in a while. I would have given a four star review but our service was mediocre. I will definitely go back

Discovered Mack’s about a year ago when I was in the area on business. Now I go there every trip. The filet is outstanding. Service likewise. Nice atmosphere. Specials are always a cut above. Can’t say enough good things. You won’t be disappointed.

I have an absurd amount of love for this place. The food and drinks are very fairly priced, I’m surprised to see people complaining about the prices. On top of that, it’s just excellent quality all around. The food never disappoints and everyone who works there is delightful. The bartenders are attentive and make you feel welcome and really, the same goes for the waiters. The atmosphere itself is also very pleasant. If you want great service and a delicious meal, then this should be your go-to spot in the area. It’s also a great place to go to after the shows over at the Rhino Theatre right down the street!

Drinks — Yes(bring your wallet), Food– No I am from town and have eaten here a handful ot times and each time come away with the feeling that the prices are high and the food so so. Menu is very limited and the portions are generally small for the price charged. The entrees do not come with a salad and the sides included are spartan. I am happy Mack’s came to town and renovated Riddles and the place is very nice inside– Drinks are good(if overpriced) but still not in a hurry to go back any time soon for dinner. You will get a better meal at a much more reasonable price at Thatcher’s or Mr. Sushi right next door is a great option too.
