R & M Hardware is one of the last remaining «old-​fashioned» hardware stores in Northern NJ, and I can absolutely see why it has been able to survive for over 30 years even with the ever increasing presence that Home Depot and Lowe’s has.
Everything about this store is perfect. They have so many products; every single nook and cranny is filled (but in an organized fashion). What they don’t carry, they can easily and quickly order for you. Besides being associated with True Value, they are also a Benjamin Moore paint dealer.
Perhaps the greatest aspect of this hardware store is the staff. Every single employee is knowledgeable, incredibly helpful, courteous, and personable. These are the type of people who you can become friends with and have actual conversations with. Every employee (Rick Sr., Madeline, Rick Jr., Jeff, Ginny, Harold, Frank, and Kevin) have different skill-​sets and knowledge which makes the entire operation run smoothly and efficiently.
I highly recommend shopping at R & M Hardware.
