Best Western Plus Regency House Hotel

Stayed here on a Saturday night after attending the comedy shoppe which is also in hotel. Checked in and was given a form to sign about not smoking in the room we were given. Went to room opened door and was hit in the face with the smell of old stale smoke. Here’s a hint – maybe check your non smoking rooms before giving them out. Not a big deal. We called front desk and informed them about it and the promptly moved us to a new room that was fine. The rooms here are all updated and always clean. The beds are super comfortable to us so we always sleep well. The staff is always friendly and very accommodating. The free breakfast is a bonus. It’s not gourmet but it does the trick. All this and a suite for $ 79 can’t be beat.

We stayed here for 8 nights during the holiday season, from Florida, visiting with our new grand baby. We stopped by during a visit in the fall to check out the rooms. The gal at the front desk could not have been any nicer. Showed us the rooms and gave us a better price than I had found on any of the travel sites.
We love the room with full size kitchenette. Room is immaculate and the cleaning staff could not be any better. Kitchen had plates, silverware and small set of pots and pans, worked great for us. The room we stayed in was very nicely updated and the hallways and public areas were updated as well.
We LOVED the free hot breakfast that is included, much better than your standard cereal, yogurt or oatmeal.
We have a lovely view of the river behind us and this location can’t be beat.
We have been more than satisfied with this property, great price, nice clean room and very friendly and helpful staff.
We did need help twice with the phone and TV but Alex was at our door within minutes and had everything working.
We will definitely be back. Thank you for making our holiday stay so memorable and comfortable.

I wish I could give a good review… just not possible.
This is likely the worst best western I’ve ever stayed in.
Would have bailed out but for convenience to the memorial service for my wife’s mom.
So the good:
1. staff was excellent, friendly, helpful, and professional.
2. The location was convenient for us.
The bad:
1. breakfast included-​Yuck. Enough to make one Unilocal.
2. First night I had called to be sure late arrival was ok. It was. Unfortunately it also was for the family arriving with two little (noisy) kids at 4:45 am. Our arrival at 1 am was very quiet to NOT disturb anyone. Theirs WAS NOT!!! Very, very rude and insensitive. Sleep was not possible until 5:30 am.
3. We began referring to this hotel as the «out of order» hotel. Too many things not working, broken, or in dire need of maintenance. Note mold on shower tiles, holes in shower curtain (rat chewed?), electric doors, ice machine, soda machine, lights w burned out bulbs, it isn’t even winter.
4. Midnight 2^nd night more intolerable noise. Drunks in hallway just outside our door. Literally running up and down hallway, yelling and loud talking. Asked them politely to let people sleep. Back talk and oblivious to courtesy. I warned I would call the police and was told, «don’t ruin the party mon». I called the front desk and told them we had a problem and I did not want to call the police but would. He said they would deal with it. A few more stomping runs in hall. A few more instances of loud talking — men and women. By 1:30 it calmed down. Another night of lost sleep.
I am rather down on this hotel but not the whole brand. I will stay in a better place next trip to east coast. Maybe Air BnB…

I stayed up in North Jersey for a work trip. I read many reviews for all different places as I wasn’t sure where to stay. Don’t let the «motel» type look on the outside fool you. It was very clean and inside was updated very nicely. The continental breakfast was pretty impressive even with hot food selections. The only downside were the window units. I was here on a Wed and Thurs night also pretty quiet.

We stayed in this hotel for our mini family reunion/​2^nd birthday for my son. My family and I booked 6 rooms!
I would give this hotel a 5 but there were some cons!
Pros– rooms were nice and modern! Sheets were clean! And the cleaning ladies were very nice and friendly!!! The pool is awesome! Big and its outdoors! That is a big plus! The manager for banquet rooms Pat was also nice, and accommodated us ;)
Con– Front desk management. This is only one con for the hotel, but front desk is a biggie! This is where you get the first impressions! Most of the front desk staff were friendly, except for Jackie.
I observed her, she was friendly to some customers and outright rude to others. Rude to me on the phone a week before i checked in, to make sure my rooms were booked. And she repeatedly said the rooms you booked cannot be a joint room. She also said this again when i checked in. She gave me the keys, and lo and behold! The two rooms were two adjoined rooms… Im really not sure what to even make of that situation! But um yeah…
I booked 4 rooms under my name, a lady from the front desk checked me in right away for my first 2 rooms that were awesomely ready at 2pm! She told me nicely to come back to check in to the other ones.
3pm is the right check in time, i came back at 3:45pm the nice lady wasnt there anymore, instead i met jackie. Her facial expression was not welcoming, she again told me she does not know if those rooms are ready and for me to wait, she helped another customer and told them she doesnt know if their rooms are ready but proceeded to print out paper work for them, and did nothing for me. She then looked at me and said rooms arent ready.
4:30pm — went back down stairs to check if the last 2 rooms were ready. She looked at me, i guess that means can i help u? I asked if my last two rooms were ready and handed her my credit card, she took my card without saying a word, but proceeded to chat with another gentleman next to me. (I hate people that work hospitality jobs and have no people skills!!) you should not be at the front desk! Down right rude! Even on the phone she was rude!
She was even rude to my family members who asked to changed their room because it wasnt the room they paid for. She had the nerve to say «oh did u touch anything in the room, did you mess anything up?!»
Oops and one more con! During the «free» breakfast a staff member asked my family members and I, what rooms we stayed in and looked very concerned. I thought okay understandable, u have to ask. But i again observed that she did not ask any other hotel guest who came in after us, what their room numbers were.
Overall a great hotel!!! I just would hate to have to deal with Jackie again.

I went to a sweet sixteen for a relative of my wife. The food was much better than I anticipated. Also, the service was professional and attentive to the guests needs. This is a very good place for moderately sized events of around 75 people. I can’t say how it would be for a larger group.

I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised with this hotel for the price I paid (under $ 100).
Jocelyn at the front desk was very friendly and helpful after a long day for me. The décor in the public areas of the hotel was very nice; and my room was A+.
The restaurant was fine — had a glass of wine and a hamburger for less than $ 20. It wasn’t fine dining, but it saved me from having to go out somewhere else.
I travel to NJ ALOT, and will definitely return.

The hotel it self was not bad at all. It is actually a nicely new/​renovated place and the rooms were nice and clean. The problem however lies in the less than adequate staff.
We recently did a group booking for our wedding guests. I should have known it was going to be quite an experience when it took 3 weeks to get THAT done. Nothing was ever clear and we were just kind of given these mumble responses to any questions we asked… not at all reassuring. Half of our friends didn’t even know that they had a reservation for sure, no confirmation number, no call or email to confirm etc.
Upon check in, the lady behind the front desk was very very rude. I simply questioned their policy of paying upon check in rather than check out and I got a sarcastic smirk and eye roll. We then headed to the bar to continue our celebrating, and being that we needed no more staff interaction, had a fantastic night!

Review is only for a conference I attended. Did not stay in any of the rooms.
Conference room was spacious and accommodating. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They have completed some renovations to give it a fresh feel. Food/​drink served at the meeting was better than other conference’s I have been to. Location was right off Rt 23 which is very convenient for most travelers.
Rooms are reasonably priced. Worth a look for your business meeting needs.

My wife’s overall assessment of this place was spot-​on: «having the appearance of elegance but lacking the substance thereof.»
We called the national reservation number and were told we would get a non-​smoking king bed room on the first floor. When we arrived, we were assigned a smoking room on the second floor, and the little girl at the front desk — from India or somewhere else close by — seemed annoyed that I wasn’t happy with that. She did, however, spend much time clicking on the computer and found us a non-​smoking room on the first floor.
The physical appearance of the lobby, halls, and room was impressive and immaculate — we typically stay at discount motel chains, and this was an order of magnitude nicer in that area. However, beauty is only skin deep.
We couldn’t get the TV to work — all the channels were surrounded by a menu screen and the image itself was very small. After fiddling with the remote for 10 minutes, I trotted back to the front desk, where the receptionist told me I was supposed to use the «other» remote in my room. Well, that would have been nice, if there had been one. Ultimately found a button on the cable box itself that cancelled the menu screen. The following morning I asked the day receptionist about the remote, and she said there’s only one. I don’t know who was telling the truth.
We didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean and attractive. There was a small excercise room with a treadmill (out of order), an elliptical, a recumbent bike, and a universal gym. I was hoping to use the treadmill, so I was disappointed there as well. The free Wi-​Fi worked well, however, and was a plus.
The bed was clean and comfortable. However, when I went to shower in the morning, I realized that someone had replaced the shower head with an eyedropper. Seriously — there was so little water coming out that it was almost impossible to get clean.
Breakfast in the morning was B-​grade — there was a good assortment of stuff: powdered eggs, microwaved bacon, home fries, a waffle-​maker, toast, bagels, danishes, and a selection of hot and cold cereals. The breakfast room attendant was the only one in the hotel who seemed to give a rat’s south-​40 about what she was doing; she was attentive and hard-​working. The rest of the staff seemed rather put out that we were there.
Running a hotel is a tough business, and very few people get it right. 95% of things can be A-​OK, but if the last 5% of the details aren’t attended to, a customer can go away feeling unhappy about the whole experience. I’d say some room maintenance and a hefty dose of employee training could bump this hotel’s rating up by two stars without much effort.

Overall I would have given this hotel an average rating but a very creepy staff person plummets this rating to one.
My fraternity has used this hotel for our formal for a few years now. On the last occasion my date had to arrive late and planned to drive us home. Unfortunately a huge storm hit and she talked to the front desk to get negotiate a deal on a room. The guy asked for her number so the manager could call her after he thought it over. Believable.
Unfortunately that was not the case. My girlfriend received texts from this guy saying if she stayed with him she’ll get a deal. No, she does NOT want to room with you fucking creeper. I’m pretty sure it qualified as harassment but she won’t tell me who it is. I will never step foot in this place again.
I won’t dignify this place with a review of the facilities.

The place is absolutely beautiful! However, the website is very deceiving. We booked a room with a king size bed and a hot tub. When you look at the pictures of rooms, the room with the «hot tub» is beautiful! And we thought we were booking that room. We drove all the way here, and when we entered the room, it was the regular tub with jets… Assuming it was just the wrong room they gave us, we went down stairs to talk to them. Only to discover that was the room we ordered, the description of the room was very deceiving… & it was very disappointing to discover we had to pay more for the room we drove all the way down here to have.
& the room they moved us into at the higher price, the hotel tub was VERY small and almost awkward for two people. So this was even more upsetting because we paid the extra and it wasn’t something we could really relax and enjoy.
When looking at the binder of paper-​work left on the desk of the hotel, I discovered the email address to contact the GM, so I did — to make him aware of our disappointment. He called back within 15 minutes, and brought us down to see this lovely room, which would normally be double the money we already paid. He moved us into that room, which actually had a beautiful hot tub inside the room, so no extra cost (although like I said, we had already paid about double we were expecting) & he brought us a beautiful fruit platter, and two pieces of this yummy cake as an apology for what happened.
So while we were very disappointed from the beginning, the GM did do his best to make up for it — so I do give them some credit for that.
