As a veteran of the United States Air Force I receive the GI Bill and with this bill I am to get my education covered. I have been out of the Air Force 9 years and have received my cosmetology license and massage therapy license. Getting each certificate was rather easy through the community colleges I chose. When I went to Unity cosmetology school the first question was, «do you except military benefits» the women was very kind and said, «yes.» I then made an appointment to see the admissions counselor and she said that the school jumps through hoops and got certified for veterans… she even pointed to a picture on the wall showing me that they took military benefits. I went through my teacher education program and that itself was a JOKE! I was bullied by some instructors and was told by previous students and previous students going through the the teacher education program to be careful around the educators. I personally went to a Paul Mitchell school and saw how a teacher educator program should be ran and Unity’s was a JOKE! I learned absolutely nothing here! I felt extremely sorry for the students here because I compared my education to theirs and they learned NOTHING… i would never hire a student from Unity because they all lack education they did not receive. All in all, two days before my graduation date I was told that they DIDNOT take military benefits!!! I did receive my certificate to be an educator, but was showed how to take out a student loan!!! When I confronted the owner of the school I was told I(as a student) should have done MY research!!! They were laughing because of my misfortunes and had no sympathy. To all future students… I promise you there are better schools out there. KEEPLOOKING!
