I’ll get the one negative observation out of the way before I gush about the barista’s kindness: they charge about 40 cents for switching to soy milk. I think a lot of places in the Olympic Peninsula do that, but I’ve never seen that in Seattle. So. Maybe they didn’t have a sign up, or maybe they did and I didn’t see it. But when i stopped by Brewed Awakening this afternoon, I didn’t have any cash, and they were only taking cash. I forget why the barista said she couldn’t take my card, but i think it’s only temporary. Anyway, I pull up. I order. The barista’s friendly. She makes a good soy americano, and goes to hand it to me. I try to hand her my card. She says they’re not taking cards right now, and before I can spew my dumb explanations/apologies/etc, she’s handed me the coffee and given me a «nevermind» face. I make more promises about eventually paying, and she grabs a stamp card, stamps it, and hands it to me. So nice. Thank you. I’ll absolutely drop by soon. EDIT: Some places in Seattle(starbucks) will charge you for the soy milk if you’re having a latte that requires a lot of milk. If you’re having an americano or drip coffee, where it’s just a splash, they won’t charge you. I don’t know if this is the case with Brewed Awakening.
