YMCA Port Arthur

I haven’t been to the YMCA in Port Arthur, but wanted to give them a plug her on Unilocal … I was a member for about a year and found that it was a great place to go and unwind from my (at that time) stressful call center job … Unfortunately i was not there when they remodeled the building … I now own my own business and don’t get over that way too much … IF I did, I would probably rejoin them … I sure do wish that there was a YMCA in Beaumont. There was at one time, but it didn’t do well, and then they were going to open a new facility near the Social Security building in West Beaumont, but that failed completely … Sad … Maybe YMCA Port Arthur could open one in Beaumont … That would rock … !~

I love this place but they need to find a way to keep non members out of the members area. Coming to watch soccer or basketball my butt.

I really didn’t expect much from a YMCA, so I was really surprised! Top notch equipment, and plenty of it. They have a good schedule of classes, trainers available, a huge pool, TVs on cardio equipment. It seems to be a clean, well managed facility, and I look forward to spending a few hours there every week.

The YMCA has always been a very nice family environment to be a part of. They had been doing renovations to improve the facility. I must say, the whole process has paid off. The weight room has more equipment, so you don’t have to wait to use them. All the weights are new. I don’t lift weights, but its tempting. There is a walking track above and several racquetball rooms.
The long wait, correction. Well worth wait, is just that. Very much worth the wait. The locker area has colors are bright and exciting. The design and layout make the locker room spacious. The shower area is very neat and has alot of room, and several stalls. The steam room is REALLY nice. The steam comes out so strong it sounds like a PRV going off. The seating in there is unbelievable. The sauna is totally state of the art, something you see on TV. Don’t get me wrong the old wet areas were nice, but this, its so comfortable I almost didn’t want to leave. The whirlpool is sunken walk-​in area. I was very delighted about my visit to the facility today.
The staff is the same friendly people. Helpful to any and all your needs. With all the work that was done, was worth the wait. I wish the YMCA the very best.
