I recently hosted a baby shower at The Secret Tea Garden! If you are looking for a whimsical atmosphere to host a party or just have an afternoon tea this is your place! Food was delicious, service was amazing! Planning with Katie was easy, stress free & terrific! I even purchased my favors through Katie! My guest are still speaking about the fantastic time they had! If I could have given more than 5 stars I would have! The Secret Garden experience was on the same high level as my afternoon teas in England! Thank you, Katie for insuring my baby shower was such a success!

My friend and I were soooo looking forward to having a lovely tea here, and we were so incredibly disappointed with the strange and awful way the staff treated us. Will NEVER go back. We stopped in for tea and waited to be seated. Normal, right? The lady at the counter totally ignored us and totally ignored our attempts to get her attention. OK. Not a problem. There were two servers in the dining room resetting tables. Of course seat us, right? They also ignored our attempts to get their attention. One of them even made eye contact with us, and just walked away. So, we seated ourselves. The two servers continued to reset tables in the dining room. After they did this for a few minutes(not kidding here) one of them finally stopped by the table to inform us that they were no longer serving tea that day. Seriously? And the message wasn’t even delivered very nicely. I’m thinking that basic customer service training is in order. BIG time! Or maybe just a complete overhaul. Pathetic.

I attended a baby shower held at this quaint and beautiful tea café this weekend and was so impressed! I know the owner assisted the hostess with many details, from seating cards, décor and favors. All were perfect! The food was fresh and delicious, the service was professional and attentive. The tea was delicious. You could order from a beautiful list and enjoy the tea either hot or iced! You could then try another one if you wanted Fine English China was used, adding to the the wonderful ambiance. I loved the concept of a formal tea for a shower, and it exceeded all my expectations. a worth while consideration for a special gathering Denise D

Brought my 6year old daughter here for a fun tea experience. We loved it. She was delighted she could have hot chocolate and her own tiered pastry/sandwich server. The food was very good and the scones were some of the best I’ve ever had. The tea selection was impressive but I received good suggestions from our waitress and the one I eventually chose(with fruity highlights and hint of rose) was delicate and very much to my liking. My daughter and I tried on several hats and took pictures of each other. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Great place that I will definitely be revisiting despite the 50 min drive. There is none better closer to our home in Great Neck.

I treated my mom to lunch here for her birthday. After watching seasons of Downton Abbey, we were in the mood for high tea! The décor is lovely and whimsical. The scones were delicious, and so was the tea. I would love to come back here with friends.

Complete rip-off. $ 190 for 2 adults and 3 small children only to leave the place starving. The scones were awful too. This place is a joke!

This place is fantastic! In the storefront that was once the infamous Moore’s — a gourmet deli I grew up on — I do hope that the Secret Garden sticks around. The food is tasty, service is great, the tea selection is extensive, and the environment is fun! They have sweet hats you can dress up in during your high tea experience. I would recommend checking this place out!

This continues to be THEBEST tea room ! I love all the small touches that add to the experience: the note card on your plate, the fresh flower on an artfully folded napkin, the beautiful dishes, the seasonal décor, the list goes on and on. Of course the food, scones and teas are delicious and they all change seasonally so you must visit often! Although I’ll be sorry to see the pumpkin spice tea leave the menu(I did buy some for home to help with withdrawal), I’m looking forward to their Christmas season menu and décor. And you can do your Christmas shopping there as well!

Amazing. My mom and I went on a day trip to port Jeff and made reservations here in advanced. We both got the high tea, and when i told the waiter I was a vegetarian, they made me 5 special sandwiches to fit my diet! They were so nice and the food was amazing. The scones were fresh, warm, flavorful and not dry like most can be. The sandwiches were amazing, I don’t remember the names of all of mine because they aren’t on the menu, but one was a pesto, and another had apricot. All of them were amazing. They have a large list of teas, I got the cream earl grey and it was excellent, I got over 4 cups from the pot! The desserts were also amazing, the almond biscotti was delicious. If you love going to tea, this is a great spot.

The wife and I stopped in today, it’s so elegant when you walk in, the staff is very friendly! We got the almond sugar cookie tea, it was soooo good! We also ordered a some scones those were ok, pretty small though. They don’t rush you in here which is nice. All in all this is a great place to go with friends or your significant other and enjoy good conversation, and some awesome tea. We will definitely be coming back here soon.

What a lovely spot! Though the Secret Garden is not large, it’s one of Port Jefferson’s delightful surprises. The décor is elegant and it’s full of floral motifs and cool pastels, which make for an extremely pleasant dining experience. Although the place is tastefully decorated and the teapots are charming and the prices are extremely reasonable. The panini that I ordered was cooked to perfection and came with a fresh salad. Although the food was good, the best part of my experience was the excitement that came when I saw the extensive tea menu, there were many to choose from, but I had a chocolate mint tea, which the waitress told me would taste exactly like a mint chocolate girl scout cookie, and she was right! It was the perfect drink to go along with my meal. If you’re feeling a bit Downton Abbey after eating, go towards the back of the store you can try on their mélange of hats and both adults and children alike can play dress up! Thinking of bringing my mother back here for their Mother’s day special.

My friend Rebecca is wonderful at finding new places for us to enjoy. She has be RAVING about this tea place in Port Jefferson. I live and work in Port Jefferson and drive by this place every day and never noticed it and I am not a tea kind of girl. I am more of a hunting fishing dirt bike kind of chic! Recently she brought my mother and I here. I am so happy that she did. I walked in by my self and was greeted by the owner. She was dressed in a cute dress and a hat! She looked like a elegant version of something you would see in an Alice and wonder land story. Since the first thing you see when you walk in the restaurant is her it really set the tone of the place. Then we were seated and every table has its own unique setting. One table of ladies all were dressed to the nines and had one crazy hats! On each table is a napkin folded like an envelope(this is the best part) inside the envelope is a love quote!(for valentines day) I ordered the Lemon Raspberry tea. with lemon on the side. My mother got the coconut marshmallow and Rebecca got an earl grey. They each came in there own pots. I was thinking you got a cup of it but I was able to get at least 4 cups of tea out of it. I ordered the quesh of the day. It was cheese, bacon mushroom. The portion was HUGE. I had a little trouble finishing it but did because it was so yummy. We got scones also. They had one raisin and one strawberry chocolate. I didn’t like the chocolate one it was a little over whelming. The magic of this place is in the details. There were hats in the back you could use and all sorts of things to dress up in. Each shelf in the place had valentines day tea pots and cups and fresh flowers. The guest checks are home made! Instead of being a black leather book it had a little cozy sewn on it! The last thing I will leave you with: I run a business so that is why this place impressed me so much. I personally know how much work goes into those little things that could easily be ignored. I am surprised that so many reviews are bashing this place for going up in price or cutting portions or having an $ 8 min. It said it on the front of the menu and its a REALLYSMALL space. They were maybe 20 seats? I didn’t count just guessing. Its only open for lunch. How is place going to make money if they let someone sit there for 2 hours and only get a pot of tea. Its not a dinner– It doesn’t have 100 seats and open 24 hours. If you want a $ 2 cup of coffee go to dinner and skip this place. If you want a fun memorable experience get your friends and give this place a try.

I absolutely love afternoon tea and everything about it! I’ve done quite a few all over New York, Long Island and even one in Canada. The one thing that makes or breaks the tea experience is the atmosphere and service. The Secret Garden has a great atmosphere, is nicely decorated for the season and the people are warm and welcoming. I went with a few friends and we loved being able to pick different hats to wear. Everyone did a tea and we all enjoyed the scones, sandwiches and desserts. I loved the scones… pumpkin pecan and raisin. Both were great. I loved the Thanksgiving sandwich with turkey, stuffing and cranberry and the mushroom sandwich was interesting too. My only complaint is that I wanted Chai tea and I was told it was extra even though I was already paying $ 30 for the full tea experience. I found that weird but I just got the crème brûlée tea which was good enough. I loved the little shop in front. They have great gifts for tea lovers. I will definitely be back for more! I want to try the different flavored scones and teas. It’s a lovely place and I would recommend it to everyone.

A rare find! I came here with my 6 year old daughter and we had a delightful tea and lunch. The food was great. The service was great. The décor was spectacular. The little things also make this café amazing — table settings, clothes to try on, a gift shop full of affordable and really cute items. If you have girls aged 4 – 14, you must stop in!

This café was a very cute sweet place for a nice girly get together. I visited with my 2 girls 6 and 8. They just adored the fancy décor. Table is set with lovely china along with a rose and inspirational quote on decorated note card. Girls were invited to wear one of their fancy party hats and feather boas. Menu had extensive tea list. In addition to traditional afternoon tea there were soup salad and sandwich options. Service was friendly and fast. Please note that on weekends or during school breaks reservations are a must. On a side note I noted that there was An $ 8 dollar minimum per guest. Did not effect us on this visit but it may for other guests. Would return again as a treat for my girls or as a girlfriends outing.

Oh I love this place. The tea menu is a mile long so you’ll find something for every taste. The first time I went there, my sister and I brought our mother and grandmother for their special Mother’s Day high tea which includes three tiers of scones, tea sandwiches and desserts. You can also just get salads and sandwiches which are good too. It’s a perfect place to go with girlfriends because it’s unbelievably cute and girly inside, as a tea room should be :) There are even feather boas and hats in the back you can wear which is just adorable. The staff is very nice and there’s even a little gift shop in the front.

I’m sad to see where this place is heading. Their scones are now about half the size they were when they first opened. The price did not go down like the size. I’m disappointed. Also I don’t like the you have to spend a certain amount each person or they will charge you extra for nothing. I hope they are not getting to comfortable, the way they are going, people will stop going. I won’t be frequenting this place often anymore. Till they start serving the right sizes for the price they charge.
