A good place to work out. 70 year old men may try to flirt when they pay hand ball but these types of men, while being a nuisance, are unavoidable and entertaining [posting under my husband’s name].

I used to go here 10 years ago, so this review is for 2005. As far as I can remember, I liked this gym.

Yes, this is an older gym and has some pretty outdated equipment. Why the 4 stars? Because of the staff. Everyone from Andrea the owner to the instructors for their group fitness classes makes it feel like a family gym. I’ve been going to this gym for about a year and a half now. I’ve lost a huge amount of weight because of the support I’ve recieved from the staff here. They are the reason I keep coming back. No the equipment isn’t as fancy as the YMCA but who cares? It all works the same right? If you want fancy equipment, taking classes with 50+ people in there so the instructor could care less if your doing the moves correctly, and stuck up people go else where. This gym is all about helping people like me be successful. Classes are limited and small but thats the beauty of it. Instructors get to know you and help push you to limits you had no clue you had. The other patrons become your friends and cheerleaders. I’ve met a lot of nice people here. Like I said equipment is old and its pretty common to walk into the cardio room and something is broken. But I’ve never had to wait for a piece of equipment when I go to the cardio room. Weight room is pretty standard, again nothing fancy. Not a whole lot of evening classes, but what they do offer works for me. They do have child care in the mornings I believe 9 – 12 Monday-Friday and evenings 4 – 7 Monday through Thursday. $ 3 an hour or a punch card for $ 30 and you get 11 visits.

I love this gym it’s kinda like cheers without the beer… I have been to almost every class and meet all the trainers. They are all wonderful. Fun place to get in shape and meet new like minded people.

I go here several times a week for the classes. They have a decent variety including Body Pump, Zumba, Yoga, and CX Works. Several different times during the day and different instructors for each. I think I paid $ 135 for three months, which is a good deal for all the classes I get out of it. Definitely the best selection of classes in Kitsap that I know of.

I get that Port Orchard is a(very) small town. I get that many people in Port Orchard could care less about their health. There are however, those us who do. I chose to join Olympic Fitness because it was conveniently located close to my home. That was the only good thing about it. Gym patrons have very little to no courtesy or gym etiquette(ie WIPING the equipment after you’ve sweat all over it… can you say STAPH/FUNGAL infections!!!). Tony was the only staff member that I witnessed who put effort into cleaning and caring for the equipment and facility. The staff(with the exception of Tony and Josh) were completely devoid of customer service skills. Yes I am putting them on blast! One female staff member(rhymes with Hara) was just completely bereft in the customer skills department as well. Accounting definitely had issues too. My dues were paid up but for whatever reason never posted to my account. When my family and I entered the gym we were«red-flagged» for non-payment. On more than one occasion I had to call to rectify these issues. The following day… nothing had changed. The equipment is dated. Period. Kids are roaming the weight room/equipment room unsupervised, which is a safety issue and a health issue as well. I get that there are martial arts classes(etc.) going on but parents need to be told to handle their children and staff should be monitoring as well. The last straw that broke me was the first week in July. The gym had closed for a whole week without prior notice. No signs, nothing saying they were going to be closed. My son and I drove to the gym and there was a piece of paper taped to the door stating the closure for a full week. Well enough said… there’s not much good to speak of when it comes to Olympic Fitness. I’d drive the extra mile and even take a chance with Westcoast Fitness.
