Morgan Hill Getaways

The Morgan Hill Loft is great! Clean, well stocked, great views, and very comfortable. Anne, the owner, was there to greet us, very nice and helpful in telling us all the do’s and don’t’s for the town. Tonight we are taking in a live play called, The Mystery of Erma Vep.

After reading some of the negative comments visitors to Port Townsend should keep in mind some things about the town, people and community:
— Port Townsend is an eccentric and eclectic hippie community that moves at its own pace; timelines are not linear around this part of WA
— The walk from Morgan Hill to downtown goes relatively quick and is quite nice if you are not on «city time». Take in the charm of a small community, the beautiful Victorian homes and wild deer that surround you.
Opt instead to take the staircase that connects Uptown and Downtown vs. the Monroe St. hill that runs directly into downtown. While on your way to the stairs swing by Aldrich’s for a cup of coffee.
I would encourage anyone that has had a negative experience to reach directly out to Ann with your concerns. Port Townsend’s main economic driver is tourism. All B&B owners in town are sensitive to visitor experiences in the area and want to make sure all of them are positive.

What a total and utter dump! I don’t k now whether the other reviews on Unilocal are «real» or not — but this place is anything BUT 5 stars or any stars, really.
Arrived at 1:00 on Sat. to hopefully park outside. I called the number in the email, no answer, left a message. I’m still waiting for a call back (which I asked for). Just on a whim, I went up to the front door and went inside (because they told me it would be unlocked). I was utterly shocked when, at 1:00 and check-​in is at 2:00 — this place was an absolulte disaster! Beds were all askelter, mattress pad on the Queen bed looked like it had been peed on several times, garbage bag full of beer cans, crap everywhere. Needless to say — made a hasty retreat.
It should be noted that you really CANNOT walk to downtown Pt. Townsend from here. This place is up at the top of the hill. You might be able to walk downtown (probably at least a 20 minute walk) — going BACK uphill would be a nightmare.
So…parked downtown and went to our event.
We finally went up to the Cottage about 8:00 p.m. Walked inside and wanted a drink of water. Unfortunately, the glasses were dirty, unwashed. I declined to drink anything.
Looked around, changed clothes, and wanted to play games at the «kitchen table.» Only there IS no kitchen table. It’s a small table, with two rickety chairs covered with fabric that has been spilled on, stained on, etc. I really didn’t want to sit down anywhere but the only other choice was the wicker/​rattan outdoors patio furniture (2 chairs and one ottoman) — which, likewise, had never been cleaned as there was ketchup, blood, I don’t know what kind of ick and crap all over the arms and back of the chairs.
Well, took a look at the antique t.v. — forget it and the «VHS» videos including a porn one of some kind (or it appeared to be). Interesting…
The beds are horrible as the single bed — you can see the dip in it from the door. The Queen has these 2 strange electrical tubes coming out of the wall with a lightbulb stuck on them and then a shade that someone tried to «make» fit — because they don’t. Didn’t want to move them because the whole darn thing would’ve come down.
Climbed the ladder to the loft where it looked like the dirty laundry had been thrown.
Refrigerator was «stocked» with Lucerne (Safeway brand) yogurt, a red apple, a green apple, one orange, and some grapes. The rest of the breakfast was a clearly day-​old scone and a hard crusty bagel. I guess it was granola or something in containers that anyone could’ve stuck their hand in, etc. No thank you. Coffee pot wouldn’t turn off or on — but when you plugged it in, it made coffee that smelled like bacon. Hmmm…- no.
Showers the next morning were interesting as the tub is extremely deep but the shower is short. My husband actually stopped up the toilet when he went to the bathroom (interesting).
Nasty, dirty, awful, terrible, someone’s idea of trying to have something but clearly doing it on the cheap — which is too bad, really — because this could be so cute.
Will NEVER go here again or to any other thing owned by this bunch. If you’re smart — you will heed the bad reviews and throw out the «good ones.»

The View Loft is a wonderful, out-​of-​the-​way retreat. It’s not a typical B&B, but I love the location, amenities and, most of all, the view! We’re repeat visitors and would recommend it to others for a romantic getaway.

Overall, our stay was nice. The place was comfortable and the food provided for breakfast was basic but good. The space was a bit different than pictured, it seemed a bit dated and didn’t have the basic features other bed and breakfasts do. The three star rating is mostly based on the price we paid. During our trip we stayed at two other bed and breakfasts, paid less, and received a lot more space & amenities.

Called today and asked if they allow dogs at their cottage, and they said no. The funny thing is they have a picture of the cottage with puppies with a caption «Bring the Fam» on their website. WHY would you put picture with dogs on your site if you don’t allow dogs? Not to mention the design of the site is horrible.
They lady then told me that they allow dogs at the north beach location, but they don’t have any availability. Wait… I didn’t even tell her when I want to go yet. Maybe she is a psychic?

My husband and I stayed at the Morgan Hill Guest Cottage in July and it was just what we wanted.
It is a small cottage, but the space is well designed so it didn’t feel cramped. There is a refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave in the room. The soaps, shampoo, etc., are all in reusable bottles so it is not as wasteful as a hotel room. The no-​shoes policy made me uncomfortable at first, but the floors were so clean I could walk around in my white socks without picking up dirt.
We walked to restaurants (about a mile round trip) and to Fort Worden State Park (3 miles round trip to the lighthouse), which is a big plus for me. It is up a hill, but that makes for good views of the Sound and keeps you far enough away from the main streets to enjoy some peace and quiet at night.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and strongly recommend it to anyone staying in Port Townsend.

My husband found the Morgan Hill View Loft after sorting through a lot of Victorian-​style bed and breakfasts in Port Townsend. We wanted to stay somewhere modern and without the pinks and floral prints of the other places. We stayed two nights at the View Loft and had an awesome time. We only saw Ann once but that was fine as it really felt like we had the place to ourselves and weren’t a guest. She was friendly and the loft was in near perfect condition when we arrived. Aside from wind, bells in the distance and the occasional dog bark the loft was quiet and the view unbeatable. It’s location is near enough to downtown to walk but tucked far enough into the neighborhood to feel like you are relaxing at home. The stocked breakfast was tasty and nice to have as an option instead of leaving for a bite to eat.
After our time I found myself wanting to stay just a little longer, maybe another night or two. I would love to go back and hope that I do.

We stayed in the retreat cottage on the Morgan hill property this week. It’s a really nice little cottage (it’s a restored/​greatly upgraded shed that was on the original property). You can fit a family of 4 – 5 easily in the cottage, but it’s also great for just a romantic retreat.
It’s within walking distance to downtown PT, and the cottage is private even though it’s on the main house property. The proprietor sets up the cottage for you (and re-​stocks if you stay a few days) with breakfast foods and bevvies, then leaves you alone. (but is just next door or a phone call away if needed).
I don’t know about you, but I don’t stay at b&bs any more because after a hectic week at home, I don’t feel like talking to a bunch of strangers in the early morning on vacation. If this is you too, you’ll LOVE it here.
