In response to Evan’s review. Really? A stabbing? And Drugs? Seems to me that would have been reported. And 1020 people can’t be wrong but I am sorry you feel that way. Must be your favorite bartender was fired? Sorry you feel the need to spread rumours.

This is a lengthy review. The short version is this: «Drugs, Knives, and Spoiled Regulars» Of the half dozen times I’ve gone to this bar, I’ve felt uncomfortable and disappointed each and every time. Here are some of the reasons: — Nowhere have I seen such absurd over-serving. — Every time I’ve gone here alone, and on two occasions with friends, I’ve been stared down by other bar patrons in a less than friendly manner. If you are not a regular or a single woman, it is quite clear that you are barely welcome here. It can be tough to get a drink if you aren’t a regular, and several bartenders walk up to you with an impatient, bored face before approaching a group of loud, apparent regulars with facial enthusiasm that would put a mime to shame. — I’ve heard multiple stories from friends who have walked in on people doing cocaine in the men’s room; not surprising based on how many patrons there are going to the restroom every 20 minutes. I know this happens at a lot of bars, but it is out of control at this business. — Once, on a Friday night, a group of apparent regulars got upset when the bartender attempted to cut them off. Members of this group had been purposely jabbing people with their pool cues all night because it was quite crowded and there are seats a bit too close to the pool table. One of these drunks had knocked over 3 beers in a row shortly after getting them, sending beer flowing down the bar towards my and other patrons’ belongings. The bartender had a lengthy argument with the group, and when she saw that they were not going to go quietly, chose instead to call last call at roughly 1 a.m. with a crowded bar. Last call lasted approximately 5 minutes before almost 40 people were rushed out the door. — Karaōke and live music are so loud as to be distorted, because every square inch of this bar that isn’t a bottle or a seat cushion is wood paneling, the least friendly surface for listening to anything. — The last time I visited the whistle stop(which I find unworthy of capitalizing), I found more of the same and chose to try another bar down the street. I later found out that a stabbing occurred during a bar fight on the patio shortly after I left. The majority of customers here are mill workers and other union-ites, whose macho personalities and above-national average drugs habits would prompt action from any bar owner… if not for their fat wallets. In my opinion, the bar owners are selfish and reckless. The regulars run this bar, not the ownership, who are more than happy to turn a blind eye if their customers continue to drink as much as someone making 60−100k a year can. The ONEANDONLY positive thing I can say about this bar is Kaitlin the bar tender. I’m sorry if that’s incorrect spelling. She is professional, friendly, and hard-working. The only people I would recommend this bar to are people looking for a fight or amphetamines.

Five stars because it fits the bill and meets all my expectations. This place exceeds my expectations because of the great people and gorgeous decorum.

Nice local joint. Fun crowd of locals all very friendly. Staff was nice and you never wait for a drink. Great prices. Even the karaōke singers were decent.

A cozy small-town bar with some decent dranks and friendly service.
