7-Eleven

This 7-​Eleven is a welcome part of the neighborhood. It is also customized to fit local tastes, since it stocks up on Hot Lips Soda and Kombucha along with their usual products that the world is now familiar with. Prices are not bad.
I went here while I was walking around the Hawthorne District. The clementine soda in a can that I had was $ 1.29, and it was San Pellegrino. Their cashier was efficient and friendly. The store is of a medium size, giving it plenty of room for things such as chicken sandwiches and taquitos.
7-​Eleven in the Hawthorne Neighborhood manages to transcend its inelegance.

Although it has not happened yet, it is reasonable to assume that this is the 7-​Eleven that will sell me my winning Powerball ticket tonight. No need to congratulate me in advance. I just woke up feeling particularly lucky this morning, so 1:175,000,000 odds mean nothing to me today. Okay, so the truth is I purchase about 5 lotto tickets per year. Somehow a jackpot under $ 500,000,000 doesn’t seem worth a post-​tax-​dollars tax contribution, even if only $ 2.
When I am not pre-​declaring myself a lotto winner, I visit this Sev for their Red Box kiosk — conveniently located outside where you can freeze your ass off while trying to decide how, exactly, you will waste a lazy Sunday afternoon. It’s the «there’s 4 hours I will never get back in my life» kiosk, typically. One might say I am to blame since I tend only to rent movies where shit explodes. A lot. One might be right.

I seem to only hit up this 7 – 11 around 6 in the AM when I’m desperately in need of cream for my wake-​up coffee. Hence, I am usually stumbling through the store looking somewhat lost and disheveled. I have noticed that on most occasions, the clerk asks if s/​he can help me find something. So that’s nice, if a bit embarrassing (after all, it’s not that big a store and I always buy the same thing). They have a funky ATM that looks like it was beamed there from another time and place. And they have propane. And there’s a flock of pigeons that hang out in the parking lot. Birds are cool. Heh. I like this 7 – 11 just fine.
