History
Established in 2015.
I am Michael Prager, the founder of A Better Life Hypnosis of Portland Oregon. I benefited so much from hypnosis: 350lbs to 182lbs in 3 years; insomnia to not one sleepless night in over 2 years; on hyper alert all the time to very relaxed all the time; unhappy to happy; and more.
The last job I had, I created at NAMI [National Alliance on Mental Illness] of Washington County, called PACS [Prescription Assistance and Community Service]. It is a social services program that I created as a volunteer and developed until I was too sick to work in Spring 2011.
Thanksgiving 2010, I was struck with an arthritic condition which left me bedridden, for the most part, until my wife found hypnosis for me in Spring 2012. I went for pain management and I found hypnosis helps with so much.
I know this is the absolute best way I can help others.

Business Owner
A Better Life Hypnosis of Portland Oregon’s focus is a better functioning, how you want it, life. All anyone could ever offer me before hypnosis were patches, Bandaids for giant wounds.
I see hypnosis as a plant metaphor sometimes:
Imagine a person is a plant in the ground. If the plant is lucky, from germination to adulthood, the plant would go undisturbed. If something happens and some leaves get torn, that’s okay for the plant. If something happens and the plant gets uprooted, even somewhat, how is the plant supposed to grow properly and stand strong. Hypnosis is gently replanting, the soil is the subconscious and hypnosis is the way to thrive.
I hope that metaphor is okay, that is how I see my story of hypnosis. I feel as if I’d been repeatedly uprooted and even though I was barely hanging on and the roots of me were subject to the elements for decades, hypnosis replanted me.
