History

Established in 1982.

David started in 1982 as a partner with Chem-​Dry here in Portland. After a year, his partner moved to Texas and David bought his first Chem-​Dry carpet cleaning business. We mainly focused on investment properties including apartment complexes and commercial properties. Realizing that Chem-Dry’s process was also favorable for homes over the competition, we turned toward the residential market. Because Chem-​Dry solutions were developed way back as a safe and non toxic, «Green» cleaning was what Chem-​Dry has been about from near the beginning.

Over the years, Chem-​Dry kept improving the solutions and the technology of cleaning carpets, upholstery and area rugs. Quickly, Chem-​Dry became the largest carpet cleaning company in the USA and the world. With that said, our competition would like you to believe that we are a large corporate operation, in fact every Chem-​Dry business is Independently owned and operated cleaning over a billion square feet of carpet every year combined.

Business Owner

David graduated from Parkrose High in 1974 and received a degree from Mt Hood Community College in Civil Engineering in 1976. After being in the land and construction surveying business as a technician for several years, the recession at that time found David with the opportunity to join a co-​worker that was starting a Chem-​Dry business in 1982. HIs wife, Marcia joined the U.S. Army after graduating and served as a nurse over seas. She is still nursing and helping veterans at the Portland Veterans Medical Center
