Lake Oswego urgent care is delivered by AFC Urgent Care, in a state-​of-​the-​art center that is comfortable and inviting. Our waiting area is spacious and relaxing. We have private exam rooms, a small pharmacy, an x-​ray room and a lab. AFC Urgent Care provides treatment for injuries and illnesses — such as colds, flu, allergic reactions, infections, minor burns, women’s health, skin rashes, sprains, minor fractures, cuts, scrapes, bruises, sports injuries and minor surgical procedures.

AFC Urgent Care provides Occupational Health services for employees and employers. These services include treatment for workplace injuries, DOT certified physicals, both DOT and Non-​DOT drug testing, both DOT and Non-​DOT Breath and Alcohol testing, as well as travel immunizations, and pre-​employment physicals.

Here at AFC Urgent Care we have a culture of compassionate and convenient medical care. Patients experience minimal wait times and receive outstanding medical care!

Business Owner

Dr. Perretta is an experienced Emergency Physician who has seen the value of Urgent Care centers in helping patients with urgent medical problems get care quickly and efficiently. He believes Doctors Express, in particular, is able to provide this care in a calm and caring setting. As Medical Director he oversees all of the daily operation of the centers in Portland. Dr. Perretta has been practicing Emergency Medicine in the Portland medical community for the past 25 years. He has worked at the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital as well as the Kaiser Sunnyside hospital. Dr. Perretta graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He has served as the Medical Director of EMS for Columbia County in Oregon and currently serves as the Medical Director of the EMT program at Clackamas Community College.

Honestly one of the best medical places in Portland and I have been to many ! The receptionist was very helpful and welcoming (very important when you are in a lot of pain) and the nurse was really attentive and asked several times if I needed anything and then Dr. Patrick was beyond amazing and understanding

The initial visit was fine (although they were a little pushy about filling out a customer satisfaction survey before I’d gone through all things the survey was about). After that, no follow-​up or the needed referral, despite me calling several times over the course of days.

Both my daughter and husband had their immigration health exams done at this clinic (NW 23rd pl), with good quality and in timely manners. The staff were friendly and I received both reports quite soon after the exams are completed.

When you’re the same type as me who will attempt to let a cold run its course, only for it to run into your sinuses and lymph nodes, there comes a time you buckle and need to get antibiotics. After a couple days of a sore neck, and gradually realizing my constant exhaustion and clogged up nose were from my first encounter with seasonal allergies, I looked for the closest clinic and traipsed over.
Previous doctors usually keep me waiting on average from half an hour to an hour, but for a walk-​in appointment, I was in in around twenty minutes after they took my information. The waiting room was clean and mostly empty. I had to wait a little longer in the examination room since they were having trouble translating for a patient, but again, the room was clean and I was invited to watch TV while I waited. The doc came in and checked the usual vitals, confirming it was an infection. I got my prescription, had it filled, and a couple days later the doctor called to see how I was doing and to remind me to take all the meds, even if I was feeling better.
It’s so easy to get used to the tedium of trying to get your health treated, but they made it relatively painless. I’m relieved they’re in the area for future visits.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. From the front desk saying the wait time for walk ins was 30 – 60 minutes (so I made an appt online while she talked). After making the appt my wait was 15 minutes. My friend needed an IV (which under common procedure pricing they bill for), instead of telling us we don’t provide this service they told us that the LPN was in so although they don’t do it often they would be willing to. The whole time it was obvious that they did not know what they were doing. Between poking and blowing a vein, to using the wrong equipment, it was a joke. I thought for a second that we were being punkd. Please no one come here, I do not know how this place runs. To top it off, the next LPN on shift came in to give it a go. She was probably the most professional and well trained out of any of them (although I have never seen saline used the way it was used post entering a vein). Honestly they could care less if they are well trained or not because they get paid no matter what. This was so bad, we downloaded the form for the medical review board. DO NOT GO HERE!

The front desk staff was friendly, but one person was in training so it was a bit awkward. Still, no complaints with front desk.
The doctor I saw I think was a smart man, but had absolutely terrible bedside manner. He was impatient, bordering on hostile and clearly thought I was a complete idiot. Not the doctor you want interacting with patients. He ruined the otherwise decent experience.

I just wanted to say that I had a great experience here a few months ago. I was very hesitant to try it with all the negative reviews, but my toddler woke up one morning screaming and crying about his ear hurting. And we live across the street.
I booked an appointment online an hour from then, got him dressed, and headed over there early. We did not wait long. Everyone was super nice, the doctor recommended waiting a few days to see if it cleared up before taking unnecessary antibiotics. But he went ahead and wrote the prescription in case we needed it. We went next door and got some homeopathic stuff instead.
The doctor even called us to check how he was doing, it was great.

Last night’s visit was just above and beyond. I’ve had quite a splitting headache all day, but my husband didn’t get home from his work until 7:30 p.m. I can’t drive myself there because of the aforementioned headache.
Usually, they don’t accept patients anymore after 7:30 because of all the check ins and other information they would need, it will be past 8 before the doctor even saw me). We were there at 7:40, they strongly suggested that I just make an appointment tomorrow, but the ladies up front went ahead and asked the doctor if he’s willing to see me that night. He didn’t seem very happy about it (understandably) but he saw me anyway.
The doctor (Dr. Perretta) is a trained emergency doctor and has been working at urgent care for a long time. He was careful to check for all other symptoms, asked questions and made sure to check my balance. I was in a lot of pain at this point, but I definitely felt taken care of by this doctor.
Thank you guys so much for your kindness last night! I really really appreciate you. I’m sorry I don’t remember the names of the two M.A.s, but I definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Dr. Melvin was my doctor today. He was helpful. Did a good exam and is helping me feel better quickly. I was seen quickly and Dr. Melvin answered all my questions. I feel like he listened to me and was considerate. I wasn’t rushed. I almost forgot, the front staff and the MA were all nice and empathetic.

Horrible information given, wasted trip when they told me on the phone my insurance was excepted (even had her double check). Don’t trust what the operator says. Asked for a manager, we will see if they have the decency to return my call and do training follow-​up with an ill informed staff.

I have never been to such a quick and easy doctors visit. I had an appt. at 12:30 (which I made day of on their easy online scheduling system) and they got me in at 12:26 and out by 12:45. The whole staff was extremely friendly and professional and I will definitely be going back for future doctors appts.

The first time I came here the nurse and doctor treated me really nice. But the second time I came there they made really big mistake on my TB skin test. I can’t stand a clinic make this kind of mistake and I think they should knowledgeable of immigrant medical examination if they want to do this business !

I have been in twice here, the first time very frustrating, that I sat in the little room after they put you in that gown for about a half hour before the doc came in and then wanted to give me a chest X-​ray because I had a cough. I said no. Well, the second time I went in I called ahead so didn’t have an hour wait to get in but for a doctor to cone in and listen to my lungs and prescribe me what I asked for cost $ 325. Insurance covered this one but pretty expensive for a 20 min visit to get some antibiotics.

I came here last February for some serious pain I was experiencing in my hip (I’m 26). All around Horrible service and I go to the doctor a lot.
Anyways, saw the doctor who was uncomfortably handsy. I said my hip… not my groin. After a 5 min appt. he said I needed to see a different type of doctor and they don’t assist with chronic pain. MAYBE tell me that before?!
Few days later get a bill for $ 159. So I paid for nothing and got groped. EFF you Doctors Express.

Please be cautious. I went in early on a Saturday morning — the receptionist was so sick — she was coughing everywhere and looked like she had a fever. The PA who saw me did not listen or seem to care. I ended having to go later to Good Sam emergency because I got worse. That sinus infection was almost $ 400 — Doctor’s Express charged more ($ 294.00) than Good Sam emergency. This is my second very sub-​standard visit to Doctor’s Express. Not recommended.

Could not have had a more negative experience. Make an appointment online, as well as completed my paperwork. I also told them the purpose of my visit was to get a health assessment for insurance.
Appointment is at 5pm. I come in early, have to fill out the paperwork again. They put me in the waiting room. I get admitted, with no one else in the waiting room at 5:20.
Then they tell me that I need to come back because I should have been fasting for 12 hours. This was not told to me when I made the initial phone call to see if they provided the service.

I came here for a tetanus shot after a work injury with a rusty snaggy screw. My boss made me the appointment although I’m sure I could’ve walked in. Parking over there is great. The strip mall is an upscale one with Pharmaca downstairs and a Ben and Jerry’s. Cool location.
Keurig in the lobby, plenty of options (tea, cocoa, coffee). Lots of promo items (magnets, pens). Plus one.
TV in the patient rooms? Plus one.
Quick process, even with a trainee being shown things, plus one.
I’d def go back here if I had a minor injury again. Also the doctor there introduced me to DermaBond and I’ll never go back to dirty soggy bandaids again. Overall, I’m a fan. I’ve been to 4 – 5 diff ZoomCares and would’ve picked ZoomCare again if I’d had the choice but Doctor’s Express was a really nice experience.
I can’t comment on billing since it was worker’s comp but I assume it’s like ZoomCare with upfront pricing due day of service.
