History

Established in 2013.

We looked at the seafood industry for many years. We have spent considerable time with salmon, halibut, cod, haddock, scallops and lobster. It dawned on us that things could be better in each of these markets. But lobster was near and dear to our state, our friends and ourselves. AIKIDO Bay’s unique approach to marketing can be used in any industry, anywhere… but we will start with lobster. Adding a real-​time online marketplace to the lobster industry is innovative and necessary. We looked at issues, and presented solutions to broaden the market, increase the margins and improve the quality of live lobster sold around the world.

Meet the Business Owner

Kevin, Ivan and Alex S.

Business Owner

Kevin Murphy has worked around the world in the seafood industry for the past 27 years. In order to keep our industry sound for the future he wanted to develop and utilize new technologies which reduce energy use, protect our seafood resources and protect the catchers and markets around the world. With AIKIDO Bay, Kevin is promoting that cause and inviting the seafood industry to jump onboard. Ivan Sokolovich has a degree in Information Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology and spent the last 10 years working as a web software developer for various clients across dozens of industries. AIKIDO Bay, Inc. allowed him to bring technical expertise to the table and develop a sophisticated real-​time Internet-​based auction capable of revolutionizing how seafood sales are transacted. Alex Shavialevich has a BA degree in Economics, seafood experience with groundfish in Maine and IT programming expertise. He endorses sustainability and wishes to improve the lobster market in general.
