Anchor Bar

My wife said she noticed this place advertise all you can eat Taco’s for a couple of bucks. I am not crazy about the mini video poker world of Jantzen Beach, but I am always open for a new place to try.
Well, my wife didn’t notice that the Taco’s were only on Tuesday, but instead of leaving we sat at the bar. The bar maid was very friendly, we ordered a couple of beers and looked at the Happy Hour Menu. A fellow next to me said the food was great. The place looks like a back alley dive bar, but we gave it a shot.
We ordered two cheesburgers (I think they were $ 4 or $ 5 each) and wow, they were good. Better than the over-​priced burgers you get at Applebees or McMenamins. Giant, real burgers, not patties, cooked as we requested.
It seems these places make a great living off of the video poker so the food and drink can be above the usual quality and below the usual price!
We left very satisfied. It’s not a place to hang out or take a hot date, but if you want a good portion of good quality, good tasting food at a low price, this is the place to go. I was told they have amazing breakfast plates and bottomless mimosa’s.

Great Bartenders! always on top of things. Service is A+ every time I come in here. Stiff drinks and great food as well. Good burgers, salads, and breakfast (in the morning). Prices are about average for a dive bar. The clientele here is mellow and there is a security guard that walks in every half hour to check the place out, otherwise they’re walking around the property outside. All and all pretty safe place to drink and eat here.

Waitress was amazing! Totally hooked us up with what to order and killer drink choices. Clearly a local bar that was chill to hangout at.

Excellent service, their prices are good, fried pickles are frozen the better falls right off I would not suggest that.

I was looking for a place to chill while waiting for friends who were at the event center and managed to find this little gem of a bar! When I parked I had a little view of the marina which was very pleasant. I was greeted kindly by the bartenders (very beautiful ladies). They had such a great selection of food and drinks for happy hour and since I’m on a budget, I was vey pleased. Lots of friendly older folks in this bar on a Friday afternoon, but it was nice to be in a less busy place than most of the sports bars in Portland. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m on Hayden Island.

Lost a potential ongoing customer. My fiancé and I are still new to living in this area so always looking for a good happy hour spot. Stopped here on our way back from Target before riding our bicycles home. Just as we sat down we were asked if we could «stash» our backpack somewhere. When we said no, we are on our bikes we were told they don’t allow backpacks so we had to leave! As we walked out the lady sitting there had a purse almost bigger then our backpack.

Its bar food, nothing to get excited about, one step above mcdonalds. STAFF/​SERVICE? LoL, ugly big assed girls struting around like like they were finalist at the dog show. I have been there 13 times, the bar was sparsley occupied by senior citizens, old men, and wierd people. Except fight night then all the place is packed. Hit or miss… id pass!

I really want to love this place, the atmosphere is great it’s divey but not to the point where it feels dirty. The staff is really nice, they have an extensive specialty cocktail menu, and several TVs with various sports on but the food sucks! We ordered the tacos and the meat was mush, and the onion rings have a weird sweet — salty batter. Thank God there are buckets of peanuts on the tables!

So, I got off work early. Friend says to meet up at Anchor at Jantzen Beach. I take the bus. Walk in the door. Was told by wait staff bags aren’t aloud. Explained my situation, asked if they could hold it behind their bar. Was told no, and asked to leave. Won’t be going back.

Love the Anchor bar! Their food is fantastic and the prices are just as good! The happy hour menu has a lot of options and all at $ 2/​¾ dollars! You can order breakfast all day and the service is amazing!
Even though it may look like a hole in the wall, I would highly recommend you try it out! Besides… everyone loves a place where you get free peanuts and can throw the shells on the ground!

Awesome hangout close to Vancouver drinks specials are an attraction as are the patrons. Taco Tuesday! all you can eat after 9pm! Ask about the beer specials you’ll be impressed.
When you are served they know how to help you and return to check on drinks food etc. The bar tenders were attractive and overly helpful. We had a group that just kept getting bigger and they made us feel welcome even though it was considerably more work keeping track of all the different drinks we kept ordering. Even if a few of our party became obnoxious, It didn’t phase our bartenders. I’ll have to add this place to a monthly calendar even even if it is a trek to get there. We came for fun and the service made it fantastic. I don’t recommend you bring a group of more than 6 of your closest friends for convenience.

Amazing drink and food specials at this place. The servers here are great too. Can’t go wrong with the Philly Cheesesteaks or Taco Tuesdays when everything is awesome! So good makes me think about moving to Portland. Don’t let the mma theme and somewhat sketchy surrounding area scare you away! Great place to catch games too. Watched World Cup and other sporting events here during my stay in the lovely city of roses and had a blast!

The anchor has a great happy hour menu, yummy food huge portions and friendly people too they are the full package… where else can you eat till you want to die and get a buzz for under $ 25 – 30 bucks for a couple?
Only down fall is the service those poor girls work their butts off sometimes maybe more help when its busy just one waitress/​bartender

Awesome environment for sports!!! Wait staff is especially friendly, attentive, and incredibly affable. Rikki and Michelle are great, friendly, patient and helpful. Would recommend this to anyone that lives in the area for Sunday brunch/​hangout

What a fun local bar! Chill atmosphere, throw peanuts in the ground. Great prices for beer. You can get a 32 oz beer between 5 – 8!!! Great staff as well! Will be back when we come down to Portland again!

I give 1 star because it is impossible to give none ! We went there to have a drink and watch soccer (28 and 31 years old) the women at the bar asked for our ID and told us that we couldn’t stay if we didn’t have a US driving license or passport ! So I guess that the people in that bar don’t want foreign people !!! A bit racist I guess

I have no issues with the Anchor Bar. Granted, I don’t go there after the sun goes down, and we’ll typically stroll in there on a weekend mid-​morning, but never an issue for us here.
Breakfast is surprisingly good with an albeit short menu, and drink specials galore!!!
Of course, it’s Oregon, so a full compliment of video lottery games and keno if there isn’t anything on the 6+ flat screens to keep your attention.
It’s a little understaffed if the breakfast/​lunch crowd is heavy, but the staff run their heinys off to keep up.
Give them a go!!!
