Well, if the wares peddled here are actually Anna’s favorites, Anna has some pretty low standards. Today was the first time I’ve actually seen this cart opened while visiting Cartlandia, so I decided to get two cookies and a mini carrot cake. These all set me back a total of $ 3.00(50 cents for each cookie, and two dollars for the carrot brick(or uh, carrot«cake» as claimed). The cookies were on the«good» side of average… not the worst, but far from the best. I REALLY wanted to like the carrot cake. Carrot cake done correctly is amazing; done well(a la «Bridge City Café»), it is out of this world. The friendly proprietor of the cart was literally beaming with pride as she served it, telling me it was«Grandma’s carrot cake». It was presented expertly decorated with a genuinely tasty cream cheese frosting, which was very soft, and disappointingly, pretty runny. The cake itself, however, literally tasted like it was made a week prior to it being served. «Dry» cannot begin to describe the desiccated brick mortared with the all-too-loose frosting. It was ghastly. My son didn’t like it any better than I did, his adjective of choice was, «Terrible». Look, just because it is your grandmother’s recipe or her practice of aging the cakes for a week prior to service does NOT mean that it is good. I would have been less insulted if you’d served me a carrot cake from Fred Meyer. I’d rate this place«zero» stars on the inedible carrot thing, two for the slightly better-than-average cookies. Don’t waste your time, you’re better off visiting any convenience or grocery store.
